1. Bump - would also consider trades for a decent g**tar
2.
I was under the impression that he used 3 SVT-IIs, one which ran a clean 8x10, and then two 4x10s which were at two different levels of gain, and he switched between them, rather than what you suggested? But I'm not entirely sure.
That's what the thread on talkbass suggests - although back in the day he just used 2 svt's and 2 8x10's (and by back in the day I mean around the time Evil Empire came out, on which he has simply the best sound ever)
3.
AFAIK (and someone will probably correct me) He has 3 rigs, one is always running, and it's clean, another is running most of the time and he chooses how dirty it is with pedals, another is switched in and out and is seriously dirty.
Sounds complex! and heavy!! But then again he has one of the best sounds - saw them at Reading in '96 and was blown away by how good his bass sounded.
4.
Timmy C does it with similar amps doesn't he? There must be a reason for that.
Timmy C does use more than one amp, although I think he may have had them set up for different sounds, rather than having a seperate one for fx, he'd have one set clean, one set for drive etc.
5. Since when was it a competition? - Flea isn't my favorite bass player, but you cannot deny his influence. He has reached a much wider audience than Wooten and to be fair how much has Flea done in terms for raising the profile of the bass player? - there aren't that many succesful bands I can think of (and by that I mean properly succesful bands) where the bass player is as well known as the guitarist. (to the general public I mean, of course any one on here will automatically look at the bass player in any band.) Flea's a rock star with mass appeal, Wooten is a session player who appeals to a very niche market- there is no real comparison.
6. Good to see people spreading the Ashdown love - never been let down by my ABM and have always had nothing but excellent customer service from them as well. Sounds f***ing amazing as well!!
7. Just got all of the bits and pieces together I need to make one of these - it's going to be a long weekend!!!!
8. I wouldn't buy one - as far as I know it has the same Pre as the ABM's which I do love to bits, but for that sort of cash my money would be going to Orange or Matamp.

10.
My kick drum sounds seem to be my biggest issue. Could I make a sub kick out of a hi-fi speaker and a drum?
You could - I used to use an old Yamaha NS10 woofer with an xlr cable soldered to it!! Gave pretty much the same sort of results as the Sub Kick (although I'm sure the Sub Kick is a little more refined!!!)
11.
Goodrich H 10K also Bespeco are nasty imo
How much for a volume pedal!!! That's verging on the ridiculous.
12. I need some advice on volume pedals - basically I need to get one, but I'm slightly confused as they seem to come in active or passive versions, but I use active AND passive basses. Also any recommendations on what to go for - I really don't fancy spending all that money on one of the EB pedals or similar (I'm thinking budget end of the market!!)
13. check out www.johnnyshredfreak.com - decent power supplies at a fraction of the cost of the diago.
14. He's gone to BC Rich - They'll have his signature version of the beast out soon.
15. Ashdown rock!! Seriously good amps and I haven't had single spot of bother with my ABM and it sounds fantastic, plus they have the best customer support I have ever come across. (some c**t nicked one of the knobs and the ends of the eq sliders off the front of mine while it was at my old bands pratice rooms - contacted ashdown to see how much replacements would be and they sent me the lot free of charge the next day!!)
16.
Nice - I'm looking for a reasonable priced (read cheap) flanger for a couple of songs we cover, is the Behringer worth a punt? Whats the setup withyour A/B box and looper?
It's not that great to be honest - I use it occasionally when I'm using my fretless and it sounds OK, but it's quite thin and metallic sounding and only really does subtle flange- it's awesome with the looper in feedback mode though, makes some crazy sounds. It's something I'll probably be replacing in the future though as I tend to use my phaser a hell of a lot more. The A/B box is just used as a tuner mute and the looper a true bypass for the pedals I have that suck tone (most of them) plus one sound I use a lot is with the Jackhammer running through the Wah about 75% of the way forward then thorugh the bad monkey and then the phaser - it's an awesome synthy distorted sound but a complete pain to switch to from clean, so the looper kind of comes in handy for that.
17. My pedals kind of outgrew my old board, so I knocked together a new one out of some wood I had lying around:
18. johnnyshredfreak sells them http://www.johnnyshredfreak.com/store/inde...df08092e05198be
19. I used to put mine in front of my compressor.
20.
Their power supplies are ridiculously marked up too... especially as you can get the identical unit from johnnyshreadfreak - they are just laptop power supplies at the end of the day...
Johnnyshredfreak don't seem to have them listed on the site anymore. I bought one a while ago and was looking to get another one They do sell some pedalboard attachment stuff that looks quite nifty though - http://www.johnnyshredfreak.com/store/inde...df08092e05198be and +1 for the bit of 12mm ply - I found my pedalboard in a skip.
21.
I have here the above mentioned Gotoh bridge. It has been on my Squier VMJ and I'm changing to a Badass. So it's up for sale.Boxed and with mounting screws.£20 + £3 postage.
I'll take it
22.
Thank you. Yes. A good amp should give you a useable basic tone without having to crank the sh!t out of all the EQ knobs, sliders, buttons, whatever. Especially when you don't have the brain power to figure out a mix of sliders and rotary controls, apparently.
What a load of bullshit If you can get a good sound out of an amp, whether you need EQ to get there or not is highly irrelevant.
23. I think an ABM 900 plus 2 810's is my ultimate rig.
24.
Umm, can't the 900 run 2 Vintages?
Yup - the 900 is basically the ABM pre with 2 500 watt power amps.
25. Well............ I was in Oxfordshire but not playing a wedding not me.
