1. I would turn up wearing something appropriate for the band. If the band was playing mainly rock/pop covers then I would wear smart jeans and a clean shirt or possible a plain t-shirt and shoes. If it was an originals band I would have to look carefully at their photoshoots and their gigs and wear something similar. If it was a functions band that always wore suits I would wear suit trousers and an open-neck shirt. However - if in doubt why not ask the band what to wear? If I was in a band an we were auditioning a new member, I wouldn't think any less of an audition candidate for asking what would be appropriate. In many respects I would look on him/her more favorably as they are clearly keen to get things right first time and not afraid to ask if they need something.
 2. Good post. I agree that a lot of music that has positive spiritual influence or is focused on something other than drugs, women and naval gazing often feels different at many levels when you listen to it compared to ostensibly similar tracks with more mainstream or secular themes. IMHO that goes for more or less any type of music too - metal, ambient, dance, soul etc...
 3.
Excellent, cannot wait to hear/see/read how you have all got on.
This!
 4. Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of 'Rocksmith'? This is an XBox/PS3 game which follows the principal of Guitar Hero but the main difference is that you get to plug your own guitar or bass in rather than some tiny plasticy fake guitar with only four 'notes'. I thought it might be a good idea to pick up a copy on the cheap and use it for finger exercise and practicing - its gotta be better than playing by yourself to a metronome eh? OTOH I have heard it is a bit laggy and you have to download an expansion pack to play bass with it. I just wondered if anyone had used/played it with a bass with/without the DLC and if it was any good?! Cheers folks.
 5.
EDIT: 5 String acoustic bass still up.
Yeah - I really nearly bought one the day before yesterday. If it had been a four string I probably would have.
 6. Cocktail/Martini Fret marker inlays? that is cooooool!
 7.
I fit a thumbrest on my tacoma and it really closed the gap between that and the comfort of an electric.
That sounds promising...can you post a pic?
You could always get a 5 stringer and rest your thumb on the unused B....
Yeah - that was what I did with my OLP MM3 5 String!
 8.
I'm GASing like frack for a Sandberg P bass, even though I have absolutely zero use for it. It's just as well I can't find a UK-based Cali VS to try, otherwise I fear I'd be a lot poorer...
Me too - I especially like the zebra striped P with the MM humbucker in the bridge position!
 9.
What I really really want is a great, original, powerful metal band....BUT with a singer who actually sings....not a grunt/screamer. Don't have to be all operatic, cos that gets on my nerves too, but Hetfield style, even some Anselmo stuff is great, but enough with the wierd noises!!!!
Try Tesseract and Skyharbor!
 10. With a certain other thread about deko guitars going for cheap I am wondering whether to aquire an acoustic bass. I had the pleasure of playing my first acoustic bass last weekend and I realised that when I play my SR300 or P Bass, I use the top of the pickups to anchor my thumb on and hang my fingers over the strings, but this bass obviously had no pickups so my hand just floated and as a result I found it more difficult to play. Given that acoustic basses don't have pickups what do people do? Is it something that people just get used to or Is it wise to fit a thumb rest on to the front of the acoustic bass guitar or might this cause issues?
 11.
any more updates
This
 12.
Although Strong Punch Willy has more of a ring to it.
Surely that would be a prince albert?
 13. Rock Paper Scissors (Lizard Spock)?
 14. This is funny. http://imgur.com/gallery/R9NCh
 15.
Sadly the music industry is not one where the cream always rises to the top.
Its more like a badly poured cask ale where you have to get through the froth at the top to get to the really tasty stuff!
 16. I'm quite interested in one of these! I have been looking for one of those Tanglewood Elfin basses and this looks similar (Although not quite as small).
 17.
Looks tidy...just over a day to go http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3cf3f1f0cc
I'm not sure about those interchangable scratchplates for photography nerds.

 19. Looks lovely! - I am seriously considering that as and when I get a new bass, I will probably go for this, an Ibby Artcore, Fender Starcaster or some other semi hollow goodness!
 20.
Hmmm debating if i should get a deko bass as its almost a free bass, but knowing my luck it would have a hole in the back haha.
If you have bass with a hole in the back you are actually holding an acoustic bass back-to-front!
 21. Not quite sure what possessed the photography to take pictures in the cold, damp snow. Can't have been too healthy for it!
 22. I have the SR300 which looks similar to the one you mention except that it has twin humbuckers and is active. You won't go wrong with an Ibanez and mine is my favourite of the three bases I have had. The main thing is that they are great value but also they tend to have really slim necks which you will probably either love or you won't. Build quality is great and you can't really go wrong. The main thing is to try before you buy so you can see if you like the slim neck.
 23. Worth considering the Ashdown Tourbus range - I used to have the tourbus 10 which did the job for what you need.
