1. The nightmare that is a Floyd Rose bridge. Will take you a day and half to get the thing in tune especially after a restring!
2. Really nice! Brave - as that bass is so nice to start with but it looks like its paying off! Love to see more pics of the finished product!
3. http://www.thomann.d...ampstaender.htm *EDIT* 4 x 10" may be a bit much for it (35kg max load) but perhaps not...
4.
I'll chuck in 50p towards it - how we going to carve it up if we win?
Bagsie the second tuner from the end on the top.
5. Ouch... sounds like the "singer-cum-songwriter-cum-band-leader-cum-rhythm-guitarist" has jumped the gun in sacking the drummer. I suppose he isn't going to want to come back even if you asked him because of the potential politics and bad feeling?
6. Cool job! I have been thinking about putting a MM pickup on my P bitsa. Is yours in the right place to get the Stingray tone?
7. I was speaking to a guitar playing friend of mine about it and he said that Matt Belamy of Muse fame uses/used one on his electric guitar and he actually had the unit integral to the guitar to use for live performances. Looks like it might be quite interesting if you have money to experiment with!
8.
It's a Kaoss pad, which is essentially digital modulation controllable with a touch pad. It's not really an fx unit in the way that stomp boxes are
It says it is "...loaded with 100 dynamic Kaoss effects..." What is the difference between digital modulation and an fx unit? I don't get it.
9. First time I have seen this.... It looks like it has a little effects unit built in. Not really sure about it myself....more details here: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/u_eb_page15.php?year=2015&cat_id=2&series_id=59&data_id=98&color=CL01
10.
My cable makes a difference to the tone: With the cable it sounds quite good. Without the cable it sounds really quiet.
I wondered what I was doing wrong. All my basses and cabs sounded the same until I tried a cable to join them together.
11.
Time for a new quest then: What is the best bass for Prog?
http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_b_650_black_progressive_series.htm
12. I got a whole playlist on Spotify called "Amazing Covers" chock full of cover versions which outshine their original counterparts.
13.
I saw a Squire Classic Vibe 50's P bass and loved the look of it. So I tried it. Really nice bass, nice sound but I couldn't get away with the pickup shape as I couldn't rest my thumb on it and I'm just too used to that. But the sound kinda rang with me so I picked up the nearest P bass and tried it. It was brilliant. Sounded just as a P should and played so well that I sat there for a while having a go. I couldn't find a thing wrong with it.
Nice bass! Welcome to P-land! I couldn't quite understand what you meant here. Do you mean that the Squier CV P pickups are placed differently or have a different profile so can't rest your thumb on them, whereas the fender pickups are different shape or position somehow which means you can do it?
14. Don't like the music however the bassist is pretty good! I am a long, long way from having the balls to start a funky bass riff unaccompanied!
15. Nice! My wife is from nottingham so you will have to let us know when you are playing! BTW has anyone else noticed that the singers top magically changes from black to white and back again....!
16. I had one of these too! Loved it - someone will be happy with this!
17. Sorry guys - both me and my Dad will not be able to attend. It is my niece's first birthday so we will both be required there. Have a good one and eventually I will be able to make one of these things!
18.
I'm actually in the midst of converting a Progressive 5 String to Fretless, so can't really justify two Fretless Basses...can I?
Probably yes - if it was two fretless bass guitars then fair enough. But this is fretless bass Uke! Very different from the bass guitar in every way other than the tuning of the strings! Edit - ...and for deko prices it would be rude not to!
19.
I do not want a fretless Ukele Bass...... do not want a fretless Ukele Bass...... do not want a fretless Ukele Bass...... do not want a fretless Ukele Bass......
I think you're lying....I think you're lying....I think you're lying....I think you're lying....
20. It would be interesting to see if we had a list of all the basses ever built how many would be left after this list! We might even be able to find a holy grail bass that whilst not everyone will love it - it would be a bass that we would all consider and not discount for the reasons above!
21. Modern Single cuts (more traditional ones are ok), Danelectro Longhorn (i'd be afraid I would break the horns!), comedy guitars such as the axe or machinegun ones. There are other basses which I think look amazing on other people but simply wouldn't suit me or the music I play.
