I'm so stoked about this! Will be going tomorrow and I'm taking my dad for his birthday, who is a waaay better bass player than me. Do we have a Basschat stand this year?

If you can find an OLP MM3 5 string then these are well worth a punt. They look virtually indistinguishable from an actual stingray and they play very well indeed. The other plus is that some people love them so if you get a bargain on one you will probably sell it for what you bought it for. I bought one for £150 and sold it for £150 18 months down the line.

Purely from an imagination point of view I would love a Sandberg P bass with dual humbuckers (one in the MM position) with the wood finished in blue. I forget the name but there is a custom air rifle stock maker (gary something or other) who does some amazing stuff and I'd love a Sandberg bass that looks like his work.

I think it is very possible not to have a drummer. A 'non-conformist band line-up can be something of a talking point. On the other hand - I dare you to post that OP on a drummer's forum!

Whats the point of using flame maple when you just paint over it? Surely they are not telling us that flame maple makes a tonal difference?!

Last year or the year before I saw Napalm Death support Children of Bodom at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Napalm Death were horrendus! All noise, no definition or finesse.

Its a bit like what I would expect a Jazz bass from Tattooine to look like!

I really like that! Two questions: What is 'ebonised'? Are the pickups really rusty or have they been made to look that way?

Interesting - I wonder how well he will package it for postage for the £2.80 P&P he is asking for! It definitely has the dingwall kink on the bridge end of the body!
