Not quite on @JPJ's epic scale but: Social Club on Dorset's Coast, Mudeford just east of Bournemouth. Our second gig there after a two year break, we went down well the first gig but the old Ents Sec wanted a "refresh". New committee comes in and we areback and boy did we rock the joint. Rig was my usual, Marcus Miller M2 Bass, Bugera Veyron 1001M Amp, LFSys Monza Cab, Zoom B2-Four. Fp vocals I use a Sontronics Solo through a TC Helicon Mic Mechanic 2*. You can see the heavy curtains I mentioned above in the background. *MIc Mechanic has reverb, echo, a bit of built in voice EQ processing, bit of this a bit of that and up to 0.5 semitone pitch correction if needed. Of course my voice does not really need it..... The PA is the singers. I disown it completely.

Last night we played a club where the stage had a window at the back. Owing to noise complaints from the residents, a pair of very thick, fully lined curtains covered the back of the stage. Fo the first time ever, I did not hear a hint of feedback all night, even at set up.

I am another K&M stand Fanboi but I have boughgt two stands recently that were not K&M. Speaker stands. Novopro. These have a limited amount fo air cushioning but for heavy12s and 15s it only helps a bit. However, rather than those silly metal rods that poke through holes in the stand, the Novopros have a latching system that works really well. I also bought a mic stand that was not K&M but that was a stock issue.

A slimmer ABM would be nice. Widthways that is not height.

The problem is that bass speakers beam with any HF going to your knees. A well designed cab with a tweeter will push the lower HF up towards you ears.

I have the Mic Mechanic 2 and I love it. It makes me sound quite good.👍

I am not sure exactly how lightweight you need but a better 1x10 to monitor in a similar fashion to the FoH would be the LFSys Monza. That depends on whether 11Kg is too heavy although I know @stevie is working on a lighter version.

I have just received another version called the P1. It looks identical but also comes with a case.The battery design is much better than the Behringer. Will give it a run out later in the week.

I would love one of these but its just too wide.

I agree about your sound and I was going to ask the same questions.

Reducing the smoothing caps will mean that the power supply rails sag or drop earlier. In valve amps sag is often considered pat of the Tube amp sound. Of course large smoothing caps are expensive so I suspect that was also part of the reason for going with a lowish capacitance.

The Ampeg PF500 were the problem ones. The 350 and 800 had no problems but the PF500 went through 8 or more mainboard versions.

Ours does, in fact we often syncronise rhythms for fun, no planning it happened organically. Rhythm guitarist however must lock into som other-wordly rhythm

Amen to that. Yesterday I realised I was digging in too much to keep up with two guitars. Turned up the volume and finger plucked quite softly for the rest of the set until Born to be Wild. Then I dug in.

If you are going for an economy option try Wilkinson. IMHO better than the MHs on most far-East basses. However I would measure three dimensions on your bass, the distance between the pairs of screw holes at each end the distance between the two rows. If you look at say the GB-640s from Gotoh you will see the dimensions that I mean. Gotoh GB640 The alternative style is the GB520. Fewer holes and smaller backplate but from memory better retro-fitting to Japanese/Korean/Indonesian instruments. Both of theses are Res-O-Lite series so expect to pay around £100 for them. They are very light though and if you are happy with standard weight machine heads, Gotoh and others have that covered. I would finish by saying check the dimensions before buying as it nearly led to a costly mistake in my case.

I have just ordered my 3rd and 4th pack of Newtone Platinum Rounds. Not quite as zingy as the Diamonds but with reduced finger noise. The great thing is that Neil at Newtone will advise you on what string to order if you tell him whet you want. Considering they are hand wound in the UK, they are a bargain. I tried Elite Detroit Flats last time and they were OK but I went straight back to an old set of Newtones.

I must say that the old Picato Groundwounds were my all time favourite but they are no longer available. It is wise to go down 5 thou or so when changing from rounds to flats, especially if not going for one of the low tension brands. I have tried Elite Detroit Flats, Picato Flats. Olympia flas amaong others and IMHO the Picatos are the best. of those.
