1. For me Beck is technicaly better and constantly moves with the times. But I still love Page.
2. I used to see Magnum almost twice a year in big venues, back in the eighties. Storytellers night was awesome. They even rocked up to the Edinburgh playhouse in a Limo once! Sad to see them play small clubs now but I can't bear to see them now as personally I think Bob lost his voice 10 years ago.
3. Welcome to basschat Camille, Were always happy to meet fellow fretless players, I have an Overwater but I hav'nt been playing fretless for that long so i've not gigged with it. jump in and share your tips. Cheers Leen.
4. Ok so I'm not sure about starting from scratch but what we did to get a singer and guitarist was to email a track minus their part and get them to record it and send it back. If they couldnt do that then move on. Then get the good ones down to meet us at a practise. Drunkards and druggies polite thanks but no thanks, weirdos depends on how weird. It worked for us as our singer has been with us for 5 years and the guitarist for 2 and still speaks to us!!
5. I just panic when i don't remember what comes next, although most of the time it just comes to me in time. A couple of 'fluffs' per gig and nothing that anybody seems to notice. I once screwed up behind a big guitar solo oooops!
6.
E-bert (I still only play the low E, but have just received a tip on trying a flat B or something, Idunno).
Yeah Bert, how is that progressing then?
7.
Thanks Leen. Fifer eh? My wife is a wee bit familiar with Kirkaldy having done some of her growing up there. They invent some good music north of the border,we nick it (and hope we do it justice)
I used to gig in Kirkcaldy when I was younger.....a long time ago! I think there must be a problem with uploading pictures, its just not playing!
8. Welcome to basschat Tuone, Lovely choice of basses you have. I had my overwater fretless in for a refurb down at the workshop and found the guys really helpful. Darn it, i was trying to upload a pic too.......your not the only one hopeless with computers! Cheers Leen.
9. Mine is "Force 10" by Rush on Hold your fire, pretty much all the bass on that album are great to play, not too hard for Geddy but fun to play.
10.
"staart"
"Start"

13. I have a few recordings of Sean Malone who always plays fretless, mainly in extreme weird tech metal jazz stuff. He's also on a Rush tribute CD called working man where he does all geddys stuff on fretless, It's pretty good, good too is his band Gordian knot.
14. Hello and welcome Simon, I too swapped from guitar although that was 20 years ago. Talking of mark King I just sold a jaydee, nice it was too! Your never far from decent banter here. Enjoy Cheers Leen.

16. I had no idea how expensive straps were as I'm still using the ones i got 20 years ago! Recently I bought a new Ibanez and the sales guy said to pick a strap to the value of £30 I thought great! until i picked the one i liked and found it was £62!! In fact most of them were £40 so I got a cheap nasty one which now sits in my bag in case of emergencies.......of which i havent had any strap malfunctions in 20 years!!
17.
next thing you see'll is a guy from Glenrothes or Aberdeen welcoming you.
Welcome Joe, This is the place for you. 19. My band use some backing tracks, we use some keyboard and vox. We have had the discussion about getting a keyboard player time and time again but always find the HDR is way more reliable. This is no different to a lot of profesional bands out there. Rush for one uses them and who calls them karaoke?
20. I saw the musical box a couple of times and they were fantastic, they even have a balding left handed drummer who sings!! I read that Peter Gabriel even took his daughter to see them to show her what Dad used to do. Check em out if you can.
