  3. Thanks for the info 4000 - I stand corrected. Happy to acknowledge my mistake. Chris
  4. And now 4 becomes 5 - with the sddition of a MapleGlo Rickenbacker 4003. The first time I saw one of these live was a band called Stray at The Kings Head, Romford in 1969. IIRC Gary Giles played a FireGlo Rickenbacker and unleashed a sublime solo in a song called "Move On". I've still got my vinyl copy of Stray's 1970 debut album. Next live sightings were Chris Squire's SnowGlo Rickenbacker in 1970 (Colchester Corn Exchange) and 1971 (Royal Albert Hall - support to Iron Butterfly).
  5. Thanks for some elegant and fluid bass playing Rocco, you opened my eyes and ears. RIP.

  9. I used to play bass in a band called 'MUSTARD' (c. 1973 - 1975) ; playing Pop & Glam Rock - great fun. We were based near Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, and I'm still in touch with the "MUSTARD DRUMMER". Happy days.
  10. If only they were Plain Chocolate Oaties ................................

  14. Greetings. UPFRONT ADMISSION - I'm not a fan of Reggae/Dub/BlueBeat/Ska etc.. but reading some of the posts in 'The Reggae Thread' elsewhere on this Forum got me thinking. Way back in the 70's I used to watch a TV programme called 'Reggae Sunsplash'. IIRC, the programme showcased the 'authentic' side of Jamaican Reggae. The only band name I can recall is 'Chalice'. Anybody else remember the programme? There seems to be a lot of respect for Sly 'n' Robbie on BC so I listened to a few of their tracks recently, and I remain underwhemed (I did say that I'm not a Reggae fan) - but my interest has been piqued and I would be interested in checking out some good un-commercial reggae - any suggestions please. Chris
  15. You beat me to it Meterman. I've been listening to this track since 1970 when my Dad bought the album - and it's on my iPod. 2' 25" of percussion-istic (?) exuberance, excitement and sheer joy. Play it loud and then play it again
  16. Thanks for the clarification Muppet, I missed that ! Chris
  17. Extract from https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/the-visitor-economy (Last sentence of paragraph following 'The 14 Steps That Will Usually Be Needed') "At this time, venues should not permit indoor performances, including drama, comedy and music, to take place in front of a live audience." Dammit. Chris
  18. Oh - so many good solos out there but my current faves are both sax solos Steven Marcus' solo (starts at 2' 30") is a bit tasty AND Richard Elliot's sax playing .................. - pick the bones out of that.
  19. I've recently taken delivery of 2 x StewMac catalogues from Keith. Great communications and prompt delivery. Thanks for a smooth transaction Keith.
  20. Been playing for church services for a while now. I've managed to incorporate bits of the bass lines from 'Another Brick In The Wall' (Pink Floyd), 'Do It Again' (Steely Dan), and 'South Of The Border' (Doobie Brothers). Generates grins from the other band members and positive comments from musically aware members of the congregation. Chris
  21. Oh go on then, I'll give them a new home - PM on its way.
  22. Had the pleasure of seeing Sweet live at Woods Leisure Centre in Colchester when Blockbuster was top of the charts (around 1973 ish). Great band, and they really rocked the place. They played a Who Medley which included My Generation with accurate Bass Breaks. I got their autographs for my sister. RIP Steve Priest - a fine bass guitarist and a nice guy. Chris
  23. Right now I am listening to Crossroads by FREE - live in Sunderland
  24. Ideally - tonight. Realistically - when situation and circumstances permit, and even then it depends on whether the band members are still up for it. Chris
  25. Welcome back and hope you make a full and speedy recovery. Best wishes to Mrs NFF too, must have been an ordeal for her. Take care and stay safe. Chris
