  1. Farewell In The Rain - The Shoes (a memory from the good old days ! !)
  2. The Runaway Train (Michael Holliday from September 1956 ish ! !)
  3. Also with the proviso that valve front-ends are OK, my two choices would be: MESA Walkabout - 'nuff said. A very early Genz Benz Shuttle 6 (into a Schroeder 410L) - I really should have kept this rig, it was fairly easy to move and sounded awesome.
  4. Gimme A Pigfoot (And A Bottle Of Beer) - Bessie Smith
  5. WOT ! ! no Donald Fagen - I'll put that right immediately. From Steely Dan's 'Two Against Nature' album here's the last verse of "Cousin Dupree". The whole story is told in the song, and the musical groove is Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat. One night we're playin' gin by a cracklin' fire And I figured I'd make my play I said babe with my boyish charm and good looks How can you stand it for one more day She said maybe its the skeevy look in your eyes Or that your mind has turned to applesauce The dreary architecture of your soul I said, but what is it exactly turns you off?
  6. Just taken delivery of a Palmer pedal board from Jake - a nice, smooth transaction with good comms and prompt delivery. A pleasure doing business with you Jake, thanks.
  7. Thanks for the info 4000 - I stand corrected. Happy to acknowledge my mistake. Chris
  8. And now 4 becomes 5 - with the sddition of a MapleGlo Rickenbacker 4003. The first time I saw one of these live was a band called Stray at The Kings Head, Romford in 1969. IIRC Gary Giles played a FireGlo Rickenbacker and unleashed a sublime solo in a song called "Move On". I've still got my vinyl copy of Stray's 1970 debut album. Next live sightings were Chris Squire's SnowGlo Rickenbacker in 1970 (Colchester Corn Exchange) and 1971 (Royal Albert Hall - support to Iron Butterfly).
  9. Thanks for some elegant and fluid bass playing Rocco, you opened my eyes and ears. RIP.

  13. I used to play bass in a band called 'MUSTARD' (c. 1973 - 1975) ; playing Pop & Glam Rock - great fun. We were based near Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, and I'm still in touch with the "MUSTARD DRUMMER". Happy days.

  18. Greetings. UPFRONT ADMISSION - I'm not a fan of Reggae/Dub/BlueBeat/Ska etc.. but reading some of the posts in 'The Reggae Thread' elsewhere on this Forum got me thinking. Way back in the 70's I used to watch a TV programme called 'Reggae Sunsplash'. IIRC, the programme showcased the 'authentic' side of Jamaican Reggae. The only band name I can recall is 'Chalice'. Anybody else remember the programme? There seems to be a lot of respect for Sly 'n' Robbie on BC so I listened to a few of their tracks recently, and I remain underwhemed (I did say that I'm not a Reggae fan) - but my interest has been piqued and I would be interested in checking out some good un-commercial reggae - any suggestions please. Chris
  19. You beat me to it Meterman. I've been listening to this track since 1970 when my Dad bought the album - and it's on my iPod. 2' 25" of percussion-istic (?) exuberance, excitement and sheer joy. Play it loud and then play it again
