I went from a Markbass 1x12 to 6x7 (Phil Jones 27 plus 47). Different tonality but I like both and found them about equal in oomph. If I drop the 47 and play just with the 2x7 I find that pretty weedy. if that helps?

This is because we hear ourselves through the bones of the skull, others hear us through the air. When we also hear ourselves through the air it sounds like us but not like us. And that scary strangeness is what throws us. I media trained people to go on radio and telly for 30 years and the phobia is almost universal.

Anyone else discovered that while recording yourself can be fun and helpful it can also be deeply depressing, revealing that what you thought was your totally tight pocket is actually a shallow bomb crater?

Di route worked perfect, thanks gents
-
Ah, it's on the front. With DI written in large black letters. I take it if I run an XLR cable from here to the mic input of my Scarlett this may sort things out. Many thanks

Ooh, cripes, that's pushing my brain power envelope a tad. My brain has very high impedance. Er, how would I DI from my amp into the Scarlett?Just l;ooked round the back and my ancient Ashdown doesn't have an 'ole marked DI.

Just learning myself how to record multitrack for the first time. It's all going OK-ish, but a very odd thing - the piezo pickups on my bass record very thin and scratchy, whereas if I dial in the Barts we're OK again. Through my head n cabs they sound alright, it's just through my interface the piezos sound rubbish. I can't for the life of me see why piezos should be handled any different by the interface/software, but then there's a great many things in life that don't make any sense to me so that's nothing new. Bass: Ibanez SRF 705 Portamento, Computer: Macbook, Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, DAW: Pro Tools First.

Greetings from Phil Mann (...some chatty Londoner!)

I stood next to you during Henrik Linder's session at the last London Bass Show. You dug me in the ribs so you could have more wall space. I haven't washed my ribs since. -
Which "Famous" bass players offer 1-2-1 online lessons?

My problem with Steve Lawson is I never understand a thing he says, at least on video. He talks in staccato machine gun bursts, very fast, and swallows/mumbles his words. Don't get me wrong I'm a SL fanboy, I just only get one word in three. Maybe he's different 121. -

Interparcel gives you choice and recently an intelligent and empathic response if things go mammaries up.

When I see a 'beer belly rig' I shudder. Then I think, 'no this guy/ess is a pro, function over form'.

That's Barefaced's argument, and why they haven't made a 15 incher for a while. I use 7 inch drivers with a low 5 string. Just saying, like...

You have to know your scales
-
Delish innit? Not sure this is me saying this, but I suspect you'll enjoy this more than you would the five wot I've got. Wider string spacing (?) and monstrous E string.

I'd say they have a lifetime warranty. My MAG300 is apparently 30 years old and they serviced it for nowt

I went to Ashdown after the 3x2 episode. Yes, twice the size and possibly twice the weight of an MB, but still manageable. And the quality of sound and controls is top notch. Plus if anything goes wrong a tin of biscuits will buy you a service from a guy you can have a friendly chat with. I run my MAG300 through Phil Jones 6x7 speakers and I lerv it to death. It cost me £150 and I think I paid over the odds.

Oo nooo... an overhanging head. Most of the quality electrons will leak out and run onto the floor.

My Markbass LM2 got dropped and started an intermittent distortion. I approached several reputable and professional repair shops, all of whom refused to help. As stated above the only repair option in the UK is Real Electronics, and I'd had experience of them before: my TC head gave up on me suddenly and Real charged me more to fix it than it cost to buy. In the end a local guy solved the distortion by hitting the LM2 with a piece of 3 by 2 [not joking]. Although that worked, remarkably, he still charged me £30. And I don't know the precise specs of the lump of wood he used so can't help on the DIY front.

This is a question left unvocalised by keys players who've kindly 'moved over' to give me a go, with the unspoken inference that I have devoted my whole being to something they're perfectly capable of doing as an afternought with their left hand. Otherwise I agree with Lozz.
