1. That reminds me - I have one of these sat in a cupboard somewhere. Like Chris's, perfect condition since only used for a few minutes (but mine came in a cardboard box not a tin). £75 delivered as above - first to reply in thread gets it ... Edit: Sold to Leuan pending the usual.
 2. Blimey Peter, you gave that away! How's university life?
 3. It was factory specified not to have a string tree, and there doesn't seem to be any dead spots due to the lack of one, so I wouldn't bother. Are you leaving the V/T setup as it is? I wondered about a dual V/T stack for more control but never got round to it.
 4. No, I'm not offended at all. If you had sold it (other than traded) for £350 I would have been what's termed "scunnered" in my neck of the woods. This is because at one time 'stuff' sold on this forum at generally less than ebay prices (I guess this is still true) on the generally understood (by me anyway) principle that if the 'stuff' was consequently sold on a profit wouldn't be made (and it would be offered to forum members prior to going elsewhere). This allowed a circulation of bass stuff amongst the users. But this doesn't seem to be true anymore, especially since the new site went online. I sold 4 amps at about the same time as this one, and all bar one was subsequently sold at a markup (OK this one didn't but it was advertised at a markup). It's one of the reasons I no longer sell stuff here (having sold several thousand pounds worth of kit in the past). It's one of the reasons beedster disappeared, and also one of the reasons I'm following suit. This isn't an attack on you at all - after all it's your amp to do with what you wish (for anyone who's interested Mark's always been a great guy to deal with) but just a personal observation on the way this board now operates. Anyhow - all the best, enjoy the 'Funk.
 5. Do you mind if I asked how much it went for? Given that I sold it to you for £300 I was rather disappointed to see you asking £350 in your original post...
 6.
Thanks for that everyone - a simpler answer than I thought! It does beg another question though. With the amount of boutique, high end, expensive amps out there, why aren't at least some manufacturers making amps with power supplies that would be capable of delivering the kind of power needed to make the most of the amp? Expense and/or weight? Or am I answering my own question again?
Most instrument amps are not designed to drive a load continuously at their rated output power. For instance the Genz Benz shuttle 6.0 (which uses a 500W rated class-D module) will go into thermal shut down if asked to deliver a continuous load of greater than 70W into 4 ohm, or 200W into 8 ohm. Manufacturers do this because of the nature of the signal to be amplified (large dynamic range with low average signal level).
 7.
With the 600w RMS 2 ohm mod, just rescently serviced by Genz in the U.S. Like the G&L imported from the USA and sold on here, I havn't actually recieved this amp yet... so it's not because I don't like it! I've just been offered a GBE750 by a friend who has bought a Shuttle 6.0, so I wanted to see if there was any interest in this light-weight hard hitting and extremely cool amp (those will know what I mean who've played with it's features). As with all the gear I sell, i'm happy for people to come up and have a go or just collect. I'm also happy to ship this item at cost If everything goes to plan I should be having the amp delivered tomorrow, so pics will be up then. Here is a vid to wet your appetite, not very high quality but a good display: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH1MTsM08SM Price: Not sure what they sell for so just hit me up with a fair offer
Just pointing out the typo - these are rated 500W at 2ohm (not 600W). Highly recommend them - build quality is better than the shuttles. Also sound better at volume IMO.
 8.
Here you go ,mike. http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php4?t=29184 Have a look at the post from Kal Rubinson, a well respected audio journalist who writes for Stereophile. He says: "Yes. 1/2 wavelength is the generally accepted spacing maximum. Dunno about d'Appolito's standard but ANY two drivers spaced more than 1/2 wavelength apart and reproducing the same signals will show destructive (and constructive) interference in the plane OF their displacement." There's plenty more if you look for it. I'm bowing out of this discussion now, as it is getting nowhere and I've had enough of the insults.
Stevie, you need to read a bit more on the subject to understand the physics, before you get the full picture. So does Mr Rubinson.
 9.
1 wavelength is way too much for interdriver spacing. Anyone who familiar with the laws of acoustics would know that where the time displacement between two low frequency drivers corresponds to one-half of one wavelength, the outputs of the two low frequency drivers will null. 180 degrees and all that. Spacing needs to be less than half a wavelength. Back to the Loudspeaker Cookbook for you. It's interesting that you use the term 'debate' here, because I have not seen you debating on any of the threads you have been involved in on this forum - merely pronouncing, and belittling others.
I wish you wouldn't bait Mr. Fitzmaurice, because his posts are always worth a read. In your case a little (or should that be no?) knowledge is a dangerous thing.
 10. £350?
 11.
It seems reasonable to assume Babbit has a roadie so does not have to hump the daleks around.
He's had neo cabs out for nearly a year, at least two of them are lighter than WoT's Schroeder.
 12. Maybe PJB cabs as well? I know their reputation took a knock this forum due to an ill advised email allegedly from PJ to a member, but the small combos I've played through have been great. Allways wanted to try the Dalek cabs. Babbit is happy with his (ask him on his forum).
 13.
It's a shame that the vast majority of these specs are fictitious, extremely optimistic or carefully incomplete, otherwise that would be a useful document. Whatever you do, don't let the makers' creative writing skills affect your final decision! Alex
+1 Unless they publish a SPL graph assume the figures are dreamt up by the marketing department (and the cabs are designed by the receptionist when she isn't answering the phones). May as well stick EA cabs on your list (mine worked well with my walkabout when I had one). Haven't checked the Bowlus blog recently, perhaps he's revisited 12" cabs.
 14.
Where on the neck do i find a signature; on the crome plate (neck/body) I´ve "W 2114".
Unbolt the neck, there'll be a signature on the neck beside the neck shims.
 15. From memory I think I have a fretted Wall with a serial number just one away from this. Whose signature is on the neck?
 16.
I have been tormenting myself with the owners manual: POWER INPUT – VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH - The SHUTTLE 6.0® utilizes rear panel switch selectable universal power supply that operates from 100V to 240 volts, 50 to 60 Hz for world wide use. Simply set the switch to the appropriate AC mains voltage (BEFORE connecting to the power source), and utilize the proper IEC cord-set appropriate for the country the product is being used. For countries using 100V, 110V, 115V and 120V AC mains, select the 115V switch position on the Voltage Selector switch. For countries using 220V, 230V, and 240V AC mains, select the 230V switch position on the Voltage Selector switch. There is no externally accessible AC mains (line) fuse, the internal fuse is integral to the SMPS power supply and is not user serviceable. This fuse will not fail except under very unlikely fault conditions to the SMPS, and if this occurs a qualified service technician is required to correct the problem.
US models will work fine in the EU. There is a distinct design for Australia.
 17.
Well I tried a GB Neopak 3.5 at Bassdirect and Mark said it had the same preamp section as the Shuttle 6.0. I preferred the sound of the Neopak compared to the MarkBass Little Mark and F1 heads so my decision certainly isn't based on hype. I don't know about you but I use an amp so I can hear myself against the drums and guitar.
Yes, it's close to the Neo. It's the Neo preamp feeding an icepower 500W asx2 power amp. What I meant is that reading talkbass you'd get the impression that it's a quantum leap in bass amplification, which it isn't.
 18. I must say I've never seen such a positive response for an amp as the shuttle has received on talkbass. It's a nice amp but it doesn't deserve all the hype.
 19. I like tort guards if the antigua has turned green.
 20. Actually, I guess they are worth that. I was wondering today if I'd sell my favourite Wal for £2700 --- and I wouldn't.
 21. I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't bend over backwards to help a user of their kit, whether in warranty or not. They helped me in the past when they had no obligation to do so - which is one of the reasons I sold all my amps and replaced them with GB.
 22.
justt got back into playing after a few years, reckon i should get a tutor as ive never had one and should really get some music theory under my belt.# i live in peterheah but i am in aberdeen regularly so that isnt out of the question
There's music schools in Ellon, Inverurie and Aberdeen - I have been told they are crap at teaching bass. I know a chap in Fraserburgh who you could call - drop me a PM.
 23. Is anyone up to date with the value of Mark 1's? Is this sale out of the ordinary or is it a typical price. (I have some in much better condition that this - one of them could pass as new.)
 24.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=020 cool or not cool? sexy or not sexy? overpriced or bang on? i cant decide they sounds great from what iv heard, and it seems like a rare beast, what do we think?
That used to be my bass - I sold it on ebay a few years ago to a guitar shop in the IOW, for about £425 if I remember correctly (and it had no nicks or dents at that time). Note that the '98 SE didn't have the humbucking pickup under the scratchplate.
 25.
Clarky I know, I wasn't trying be the police here, just a friendly reminder that your invalidate your guarantee if you import these types of products from the USA. I did not realise this until I became a dealer and this became apparent. Anyway - I think for your purposes the R500 is perfect. R = Rock Mark EDIT - Having just checked the advert he states it comes with a full guarantee. As he is not a dealer that is not true!! Just trying to look after anyones interest, not profit motivated
FWIW I've imported all my GB kit direct from the US (from official dealers), and GB have told me they will stand by the warranty.
