My old one, with a gorgeous GOT neck.

Actually it's interesting to read the comparison between the L2000 and the Wal. I've a pair of Mark 1 Wal's and had a L2000 tribute. I wouldn't say the L2000 sounded anything like the Wal's. Not even close!
I've never tried a G&L at all and look forward to having a go - I'm amazed that nobody on here has a JB-2, it's a modern jazz bass from the inventor after all.
I had a US JB2 for a couple on months. It's interesting to see the post above commenting on the powerful pickups, as my experience was the opposite. In terms of output the pickups in mine did not produce the same output as a typical Fender Jazz pickup, but it did seem to have a wider frequency response and a larger dynamic range than a Fender pup. They seemed to be less prone to hum as well. I liked it a lot, but the one I had did suffer from a bad dead spot across three frets on the G string. They are very comfortable to play, and the one I had was the lightest jazz I've ever had, at a shade over 8lb.
I've no idea. Put it this way, after speaking to TC themselves I'm very happy with their customer service. Their amps are good prices for what you get, as are the cabinets.
I'm not knocking them, I own a rebel head myself.
Mesa are great, but the UK prices are just plain silly.
The prices certainly are steep. I'd like to know if the high price is reflected in the UK dealers profit margin, or if it all goes to Mesa.
My TC amp had some minor problems after 4 months and I got a brand new unit, no messing about.
Their policy (TC's) in the US seems to be to replace warranty returns. Once repaired the returned units are then sold to dealers to resell as B grade units with a healthy discount. Presumably Panic Music do the same?

One thing to keep in mind about the RH450 heads, for those of you with paying gig commitments, is that when they fail they can be a lot trickier to fix that conventional analogue or other class-D amps. Pretty much any local amp tech could fix a Walkabout when it goes up in smoke, but the RH450 digitises the analogue input and does the audio processing in the digital domain in a Motorola DSP (think of it as a fast single chip computer). Most amp techs wont be able to diagnose or fix that anymore than they would a fault on a PC motherboard, so you're looking at sending the head away for a warranty repair. Most class-D or so called digital amps are in fact all analogue, and are usually pretty easy to fix with parts on hand.

Well, if anyone is looking for these squalydan on ebay seems to be the man. I've just bought a few and they should be about £10 delivered. -

I had a bass on loan to someone for a month, and just got it back today in a hello of a mess. I'm looking for these things to stop that happening again. I don't recall ever marking any of my basses myself, apart from one accident with the lid of a hiscox case. -

I thought there might be a few similar products on the go, since it seems like a good idea, but there don't seem to be any. Thanks for the ebay info, I'll set up a search and wait until one turns up. -

Does anyone know of a source of these in the UK? -

As I said above, the only new part required is a 5p fuse. The tech will reconfigure the transformer so that the 120 and 110 primary windings are in series. It'll take him longer to open the case than to make the actual change.

I took delivery of this bass from tredders yesterday, but it's not for me. The neck is just a bit to skinny from front to back for my liking, and I get a pain in the back of my fretting hand after playing for 15-20 minutes. The original thread is here [topic="88694"]Duck Dunn[/topic]. As Mark said, the bass is pretty much immaculate, I can't see and scratches or dings at all. It has a quarter sawn neck is well, which is a bonus. Looking for what I paid (£630).

If you don't know what you're doing take it to someone who does.

One of Mark's ex's came to stay with me today (a cracker of a Duck Dunn). It's the first time I've dealt with Mark, and I can only echo the previous comments that he's a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Mark!
The pickguard thing is a moot point anyway, 'cos there's no-one out there makes them like they used to.
Tony at pickguardian does nitro guards that are pretty damned close.
