Last one I converted was made in 2005. Assuming they are still the same they have a power transformer with multiple primary windings. Connection to the pcb is made via push on spade terminals. IIRC tap selection is also done on the pcb with push on spade terminal links, which are marked for 110V, 240V etc.
I have an American market GK 700RB-II. I use a step down transformer to run it and was wondering if it's possible to have some sort of conversion done so it can run from the UK mains. If it's possible, is it expensive and perhaps more trouble than its worth? Thanks in advance.
It's trivial to convert the 700RB to 240V. It shouldn't take a tech more than 10 minutes from start to finish. Apart from his time the only thing you need to pay for is a new fuse.
Well, specifically, I'm thinking about the two BB3000 examples I own. Both made in Japan - one with serial 125659, dating to late '83, and the other 129881, to early '84. Both feature two pots and a pickup selector toggle, unlike the BB3000S with its three pots. And both have 39.5mm nut widths.
Interesting, both my BB3000 basses are about 1.75" (as are my pair of BB2000 basses and the BB1200 and BB1200s I used to have). I've only ever seen the narrow necks on BB3000s basses. It was certainly introduced with a wide nut and is still produced with a wide nut today. Can I ask how you dated them with the serial numbers? I've never been able to find an accurate reference to date some of my basses. The online Yamaha one doesn't seem to be too accurate, since it tells me I was playing a bass 2 years before it was manufactured. Are your basses stamped made in Japan?
Didn't the BB3000 feature a 39.5mm nut width - whereas the BB5000 featured a 44 mm nut width? Wasn't the neck for the BB5000 derived from the neck featured on the likes of the BB1200 and BB2000 models?
The BB2000 and BB3000 have a 44mm nut. The BB5000 has the same neck dimensions as the BB3000. You're thinking of the BB3000s, which has a jazz type neck.

Took delivery of one very special Precision from Rich today, and I'll have to join the chorus in saying it's a pleasure to do business with him. (I'll have to add the proviso that he must be seriously nuts in letting this bass go!)

Personally I'd leave it alone. Given that these are collectible it could prove to be a costly mistake further down the line, if you keep it long enough. You've bought into the old Fender bullshit, so you must have (even if subconsciously) had the investment potential in mind. Think of the Beedsters to be, and their inheritance! If you do go ahead, whatever you do, don't cut the wires.
Well, I can't talk for the fretted verison, but the two fretless TFs I've had have definitely had C necks..
They're supposed to be 1 5/8" according to their specs. Weird. Anyway it looks like that's the nut width the OP is after.
Yes it does. I and several other BCers have owned one of these beasts.... (although it is active with lace sensors you can switch off the pre-amp and play it passive, and IME it sounds better!) 40th Anniversary CS P bass..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Custom-Shop-4...=item4a99f4791c Enjoy. Oh and this but not sure about how good they are....... http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0130095306
Isn't the OP after a C neck (ie a wide P-neck) rather than a B?
Hi, I'm looking for a Fender with this spec: 4 string Passive Wide P-neck P and J pups Does such a thing exist, please? Steve
No (if you mean a 1.75" nut) Closest non Fender would be a Yamaha BB2000 or BB3000 - the neck widths are about Fender C size (actually slightly wider).

Bruce Millers had some on display the last time I was in (mind you that was several years ago...). Anyway they're about a Fender B width.
Hi This bass is as new not just in good condition and it was built by the people who made Wal great. A new one is just a bass built under license, very good but it's never going to be the same as owning a real Wal. I think it is priced about right, it will cost you £3300 for a new one, you'll have to wait a while, it's a voyage into the unknown and it never have a collectable value. This one however is a classic, £3500 seems a fair price.
I nominate you for arse of the month.

Fretless Ibanez 'P' bought a month ago from Clarky [topic="80173"](original thread here)[/topic]. Having noodled about on this for the last couple of weeks I'm now going to invest in a fretless neck for one of my other basses (possibly with similar side fret markers to this Ibanez). I'd like to get back what I paid, which was £295 delivered (with a hard case).

Bit of well chewed gum will cure that. Put's the taste back in too as it dries out.
-
Recently did a deal with Clarky. Sent the cash, got the bass. What more would you expect? Nothing - so it was a nice surprise to see he had sweetened the deal with a selection of strings. Until next time...

Get youself the foot switch as well. The parts are less than the sum of the whole. Or something like that.

Stop faffing about and get yourself a Walter Woods.
