1. What's the payment like with them Clarky? I know it's cash up front, but beyond that I've no idea. Do you get to keep everything of any ticket sales beyond the £140 mark, and is there any payment from people who turn up to see you but pay on the door?
2.
Hey Veils, email this lot for bookings at Hope & Anchor, Islington and Dublin Castle, Camden: [email protected] and call this guy for Underworld and Barfly: Al Douglas of www.wildplum.co.uk Office: +44 (0)207 193 6783 | Mobile: +44 (0)777 1777 998
Are you sure about Wildplum? Might be Ok if you don't mind having to buy tickets up front, but personally I'd avoid.
3.
Hallo Bass People, I'm thinking about importing a MIJ Jazz from 'Jo's Music Shop" in Japan. Has anybody had any experience with these guys? ebay.com/Jos-Music-Shop
I've no experience of them, or even heard of them before, but you'd be better off buying from someone like the Guitar Emporium. A JB62-US costs £734 + about 22% in tax and duties from ebay (ie about £900). The Guitar Emporium is doing them for £759 +£20 delivery.
4. +1 for everything that's been said here. Especially the humfrees since the problem seems to have started when it was bolted together.
5. You can always trawl myspace/the web for other rock covers bands operating in the SW London area and see where they're playing. It doesn't actually mean that the venues are any good, but you can always solicit opinions on the venues once you have the names.
6. That didn't last long. Anyone here grab it?
7. If the chip has gone down to the wood you can use a spot repair as detailed on ReRanch.com. If it's just a light scratch you've got then T Cut and elbow grease should do the job.
8. Actually I think the Bandit might be OK for practice duties, though obviously not ideal. As long as the volume is kept to sensible levels and is the sound is CLEAN, you won't do any damage. I've used a little marshall 40w guitar amp for bass without any damage.

Confused

Is this a combo? Usually amps have a minimum impedance, typically 4 ohms, and you're ok using it with any combination of speakers as long as the total impedance is above the stated minimum. If it's a combo, maybe it's supplied with a choice of speaker impedances because it doesn't have the option of an extension speaker?
10.
Looks like a Kay.
Yep, a KB24. Heavier than depleted uranium.
11. Like Bloodaxe says, you really don't want to run two 4 ohm cabs in parallel (which is the way cabs are usually run) with the Ashdown. If you rewired the cabs to run in series to give you an 8 ohm total load you'd get about 375w from the amp.
12. There's the Bass Cellar in Denmark Street, but other than that there's nowhere else with a decent stock in the Smoke.
13. One of these maybe? http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?cat=...pe=71&id=80
14. It looks like the original pickups have been replaced and the the routing for the larger footprint filled, so it might have come with MB IIIs. Luke, what's the serial number - the first digit (or possibly the first two) will give you the year.
15.
It's worth noting that it's not 1000watts at 4ohms, it's 1000watts at 2ohms! Si
Not quite - it's 2 500w amps at 4 ohms each. In practice though, you'll still need two 4 ohm cabs to get it's full power.
16.
Do any of these get sold on eBay, or do they just get booted off? My turquoise one isn't selling on basschat, but I'm worried about the Rik police on the Bay.
As long as you avoid the dreaded 'R' word I think you've got a reasonable chance of it getting through, particularly if you don't go for a 10 day listing. The downside to that is it's not going to draw as much attention as it might have got otherwise.
17.
well this would appear not to be the bass for you then
Yeah, but knowing Jon he's probably got an old Jazz bass he's looking to shift as well.
18.
That's pretty much what I have been doing haha. The sansamp has been a total godsend!
You'll probably have to boost the mids with the sans amp anyway - with the EQ flat it has scooped mids. The idea of playing about with the graphic in your media player is a good one, but you might like to look at this site for a graphic representation of what's going on as well.
19. Second one is sounding good to my ears.
20. I haven't used a superfly myself, but if you do a search of the forum you'll find a lot of people have had problems with reliability. I think most people recommend removing the amp from its outer casing as that seems to help prevent overheating, which was speculated to be the root of the problem. The Little Giants which replaced it don't appear to have reliability problems, but some people have found them to be a bit quiet for the wattage.
21. No possibility of returning it to where you bought?
22. All the cabs are 8 ohms, right? In which case you can do exactly what you're proposing. The speaker inputs are usually wired in parallel (I've never heard of extension cab sockets being wired in series unless modified), so daisy chaining the cabs will result in a four ohm load on each channel. http://wiki.basschat.co.uk/info:amps:imped...peaker_cabinets
23. Here you go. It's a live version with a bit of bleed, though I don't doubt you could clean it up a bit if you're so inclined. Edit: Attachment deleted 12/3/11 to save some disk space!
24.
Sounds like the Hofner to me. You can only really tell on the first few notes. Elsewhere, the bass is doubled with guitar. I could be wrong, of course.
Got to admit it sounds like the Hofner to me as well. Edit: Attachment deleted 12/3/11 to save some disk space!
25. There's also Greenboy's Fearful designs, if you're handy with some tools. The 15/6 is quite similar is quite similar in terms of size to the Big One.
