1.
My (first) wedding cake was in the shape of a white P Bass, lol. Must have an old pic of it somewhere in the family vaults!
Reminds me of my first custom commission in 2003. My bride plays the piano. The black notes tasted nice!
2. I did turn up but no sign of a band so I left. Simon owes you an explanation, me thinks. Funnily enough, we (Joez Cafe) were originally offered tonight's slot but then got asked to make it the 13th. Guess I'd better double check now. Sorry about your bust up. These things do happen from time to time, but surely you're on the same side!
3. for trading, is there anything listed in my signature that you'd be interested in?
4.
cheers for the replies chaps. looking forward to it now (as long as there's no scrapping) be nice to see you Phil,if you can make it. thanks guys
I'm out with colleagues from work on a leaving do in Leeds centre, which is why I can't make it tonight to the World's End to see Yorks5stringer's gig (he says, deflecting Kieth's chagrin :brow: ) but the D&D is near to the bus station so I'll try pop in on my way home.

6. I can see that being useful for a pre-amp box to sit on for easy knob twiddling.
7. i'll try to be there tomorrow. We are there next friday & I'm wondering if the house PA is useable.
8. Thank you BGM for informing me of this beauty (Ibanez SR5000 Prestige). I shall keep my eye out for a used 5-string version ...even if it takes years.
9. I think of my Senior Moments as 'Dougal' Moments. As in ... Father Ted: Ah, Sister Assumpta! Sister Assumpta: Hello Father! Father Ted: Dougal, Dougal, do you remember Sister Assumpta? Father Dougal: Er, no. Father Ted: She was here last year! And then we stayed with her in the convent, back in Kildare. Do you remember it? Ah, you do! And then you were hit by the car when you went down to the shops for the paper. You must remember all that? And then you won a hundred pounds with your lottery card? Ah, you must remember it, Dougal! [Dougal shakes his head] Sister Assumpta: And weren't you accidentally arrested for shoplifting? I remember we had to go down to the police station to get you!... And the police station went on fire? And you had to be rescued by helicopter? Father Ted: Do you remember? You can't remember any of that? The helicopter! When you fell out of the helicopter! Over the zoo! Do you remember the tigers? [Dougal shakes his head some more] Father Ted: You don't remember? You were wearing your blue jumper. Father Dougal: Ah, Sister Assumpta!
10. Is replacing the power supply a problem or would it feed off a pedal board daisy chain? In my bits and pieces draw I have a Fender Jazz bass bridge pickup I could P/EX.
11. If I didn't already have one, I'd be up for it. They are a real grown-up bass and one day I'd like a 4 and a 6 string SR to get the set.
12.
Hi all, I looking to buy a 5 string bass, my only concern is String spacing. I have large hand and this seems to make my playing a bit clumsy when playing a 5 string. Currently using a Warwick Corvette Standard but just can’t the same feeling as when I play my 4 string Warwick? Q1. What bass have wide neck but still have that good sound? Q2.Is there any good second hand bass shop anywhere that I could check out. Gee
You probably need the 19mmm spacing of a precision. What's your budget? I can suggest an Indie Swamp 5 for £615 new or half that used. Going up in budget a Fender Precision 5, or a bit more still and do what I've done, which is to get one made (in my case a P5 by Jon Shuker)
13. I've been curiously wondering about outboard pre-amps, which then led me to wondering if there were any light weight power amps that I could couple up with. Then I thought that maybe my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 could act as a power amp by plugging the lead coming out of an outboard pre-amp in to the 'receive' of the effects loop on the amp, thus bypassing the Shuttle's EQ. Or am I talking twaddle?
14.
Knees bend, arms stretch, ra ra ra!
Actually Doc, With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, It is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at the age of 84. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.
15. Top guy with top taste. We did a bass guitar trade and met up to exchange, which made it all the more human and happy.
16. For £16k I think the 82-word description of the instrument and its provenance is a bit brief.
17. Has the Big One Plus arrived yet? Is it any taller than the standard Big One? Looking forward to a review!
18. Now traded, subject to handover happening this weekend.
19. If I'm not too blissed out from the previous Sunday's Bass Day in Manchester, I intend to drive up from Harrogate to the Geordie Bass Bash
20. A seriously tasty bass. If I may ask, how come is it no longer your first love?
21. I have restored the DR HiBeams back on this now. They have hardly been used. Got noodling with it after re-stringing and started to think I'd be mad to sell. So if it doesn't sell I'll have an overdraft problem but a damn nice bass to compensate for it.
22. Ahh. Seen this thread too late. I was going to suggest a new build with Warmoth parts. Those Sandberg Californias are a bit of a turn on though.
