1. If the active treble and bass aren't obvious and the battery is running out so quickly then it sounds like there's a wiring fault somewhere. I've never really heard of a battery losing charge so quickly but I've definitely experienced tone controls that don't appear to do anything. In fact we had a, very expensive, bass in the shop recently with a balance control that was either all one pickup or the other or both in full. Effectively a pickup flick switch rather than a gradual blend. One of the pickups was really weedy and thin as well. Turned out to be a relatively simple re-wire and, I think, a pot replacement.
2. Wow, the black marble finish looks amazing and is very rare! I bet this sounds great too
Don't be put off: try a GR55 with a well set-up GK3B and see what you think. I run the GR55 into a Bass pos XT for other effects. I run the amp flat, only dialling in anything the venue needs at sound check.
The Tobias is still working well then I must admit that I've heard this bass working with the Roland kit and it sounded really nice. Didn't hear any glitching or tracking issues
5. Yep, vid is working on my iPhone and vids here often don't load properly for me
6. What's great about it? Looks like a fairly standard everyday Yam?
7. For small gigs and rehearsals this is a great little combo. £200 is an absolute steal! The saving off the new price generates a decent sum towards one the funky GK powers extension cabs that match this to make a cool 440x 2x12 portable rig
8. Malcolm always was the band for me
9. If you took the feet off would it slot more neatly between the cab corner protectors and the overhang wouldn't be as visible?
10. I've never heard a TH not sound good with any cab combination I was using a TH350 with a DB210 today - sounded huge with loads of low end!
11. I love shell pink, looks great on this
12.
Oh god, thats going to be extremely dangerous for my bank balance! Hopefully I can put some money aside and pop down when these come in.
They've arrived
13. I remember thinking how pretty this looked when it was up for sale once before, love that deep blue with maple look Have a bump on me
14. I remember these coming out and thought it looked quit cool - mind you, I'm a sucker for a shiny silver or gold finish I think this is the same instrument? http://youtu.be/hdPZ7GnNhQ4 MusicZoo has some nice pics of these too: http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/7382/Jackson-Custom-Shop-David-Ellefson-RIP-Signature-Bass-Quicksilver/

bag end cabs

BassGear were officially the exclusive supplier in the UK but there was little demand for them and just let the stock run out Great cabs but universally heavy and just not what the UK market seemed to want. We had to discount heavily in the end in order to sell them. Because of the weight they are sea-shipping only to get any sort of reasonable price and even then you have to order a pallet load to make them viable. We can still get them but placing an order for an individual cab would be pretty expensive I'm afraid
16. One thing I've noticed is how many people in bands aren't particularly musical anoraks. A lot of them 'like what they like' and aren't open to new ideas or looking beyond a very fixed and often quite limited musical genre. By definition this might mean that they aren't 'into' music per the OP even though they are competent musically and out playing public gigs Also - listening to music in the car is one of my favourite pastimes and really helps to expand my musical tastes. I put all my new music here and try things out I might not have time for at home. It's especially good travelling to and from gigs & rehearsals (minimum about 45 mins drive - equivalent to an old-fashioned album). I have a 160GB iPod wired into the car with a decent sound system that even has sub-woofers inside the seats. Adds a whole new definition to 'bowel trembling bass'. . .
17.
The weight is 4,3 kg . @Molan : buy this one too, that way you'll can compare ;-) Fred
Are you reading my mind Fred? It's right on the cusp of the weight I can handle, the Lull is only 3.6kg!
18. Just found a reference to nut width on the Xotic site and they quote it at 42mm (as per the pic) so it is the 'in between' width. Any idea roughly how much it weighs? If I didn't have a Lull PJ arriving on Tuesday I'd be all over this!
19. What nut width is it? I seem to remember it's an 'in-between' width of around 1.625" (42mm). If it was a slinky J width of 1.50" I'd be seriously interested in one of these!
20.
Yup, Markbass are great at discontinuing great stuff like the F series.
Alain Caron combo is discontinued as well now - best combo they made I thought
21.
With only 3 intonation screws, no wonder they're giving it away. Telecaster bass..?
Isn't that a Hipshot B bridge? Has one intonation screw per string?
22.
TH preamp into a good power amp.
Good shout - We've tried a TH500 pre into a Demeter Minnie power amp and it sounded great!
23. All ordered Basswitch / Sonic Spark / both Booster pedals and the Julian! The first three are all RMI products built in association with Lehle and using some shared tech & parts. Everything comes in through Lehle on a distribution deal though. Should be in fairly soon. They are great guys to deal with
24.
that's what I saw too... But if you look at the specs that are different you can see what they changed. While i'm happy to point to the document I've not enough knowledge of amps to publicly pontificate on what it means !
I agree - I think the summary was something along the lines of "our watts are different to other people's watts'
25. I heard a demo last year of MarkBass heads into a Barefaced cab and then the MB into MB cabs. There were about 10 of us in the room and the universal preference was for MB into MB - the only person who disagreed just happened to be the demonstrator - he also happened to be the person trying to sell the Barefaced cab I know Alex from BF said he liked the big clean power of Carvin amps, especially the B2000, to go with his cabs. Most of the Carvins go to 2 ohms as well which is really handy if you have a pair of 4 ohm cabs. We recently set up a B1000 with a vertical stack of 3 Bergantino CN112's - sounded awesome
