1. Does the front section come off completely or is it permanently attached? Looks perfect for what I want but I'm not sure about the front flapping about when I'm using it at gigs, lol.
 2. Too quick for me even to confirm it's only been used at very low volume at home since I bought it from new! Funnily enough I used my Shuttle 3.0 10T at rehearsal tonight and was amazed at how well it coped with a low B at decent volume. It wasn't as cleanly defined as the E at peak levels but it wasn't breaking up at volume from a reasonably hard hitting drummer
 3.
A quick update. As a result of a recommendation from 'Molan' I ordered 5 sets of DR strings from ThePerfectBass in the USA and they came though in about a week (tracking supplied) and saved me a bit on the cheapest price I could find anywhere else. Nice to comment on a good service for a change, I may well start a thread just to make others aware.
Excellent news - shame the exchange rate has dipped recently as they would have been an even better deal!
 4.
Why haven't people got enough imagination to relic one of their own and save hundreds of pounds? Just have a look on www.gbase.com for the right wear patterns.
I thought this one looked quite nice: Only $45K as well. . .
 5.
I cannot understand why people do not just buy new one and wear it out themselves over 20 years.
People will always pay for stuff they think looks cool in whatever way appeals to them. Trust me - I work in marketing (actually if ever you hear the words "trust me" & "I work in marketing" together then the last thing you should do is trust the person that says them!). I can completely see a scenario, especially in the States where there are lots of smaller venues, where a small bar/club gigging band would want a cheaper alternative to look like they've been around the block a few times with their instruments rather than shelling out on a genuine vintage guitar/bass. If the pickups are up to scratch, or decent aftermarket ones are fitted, then I reckon they would sound good & look quite impressive on stage.
 6.
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=35710
Interesting - I actually searched for both "road worn" & "roadworn" from the main search box in case this topic had been covered before and it didn't give me any results?
 7. Anyone seen these yet? http://www.fender.com/roadworn/site.php?language=uk_english (skip the intro it's rubbish!) Relic style '60's Jazz & '50's Precision. I think they are MIM rather than MIA but Fender site isn't clear (unless I'm missing it somewhere). Here's a Jazz: and a P: Both also come in Fiesta Red: Opening price from UK dealers seems to be around the £950 mark so maybe they are MIA after all - or just very expensive MIM?
 8. Quick note from me as I was the first owner of this head. It's essentially a brand new unit, purchased last April (I think) & only used twice at home before Sean bought it. Will still be covered by warranty & I think Sean has all the original paperwork, box, manual etc. I'm sure you could get one for less but unlikely that it'll have had as little use as this
 9.
Okay, so how about £400 for the cabs, £85 posted on the tuner, and £50 posted on the 4u?
£400 for a pair of these is a great price - they come from a very good home as well!
 10. I think Sean (Robinson) has a Fafner up for sale - it was mine for a few weeks so i can vouch for some of its lineage as I was the first owner from new
 11.
why are u selling? 400 for both right? what's your location?
Surely that must be £800 for both? At £400 for the pair that would be an early vote for 'bargain of the year'!
 12. I reckon about £120 Which is, luckily, exactly how much cash I have in my wallet right now so I'll be round tomorrow If it's any help the best offer I got on my Kubicki was around the £625 mark.
 13.
Maybe drum loops would be an easier option? E.g. http://www.mhat.com/phatdrumloops/beats.asp Just loop them in an audio player and rock \m/
I tried this but all my music players have a slight pause between each loop which screws with the timing?
 14. I could do with some interesting drum patterns to practice with and thought about buying a basic drum machine with pre-loaded patterns but thought that maybe there's some free software out there that would do the job? I did a very quick search and came up with a few but some were trial versions only and others were free software but the patterns were quite expensive downloads. Really not looking for anything flashy just a few funky drum parts to play along with
 15. Are you only looking for 5 stringers Trev?
 16. I watched most of it & enjoyed most of it. I'm afraid I thought poor Martha Reeves was awful though. I saw her in the early 80's (which was already way past her peak of popularity of course) and that great voice was still there but there's nothing much left of it now. I thought she looked good & moved well etc. and the backing singers were fine but there were some really horrible warbling noises coming from Martha that put my teeth on edge.
 17.
I was very proud of that wallpaper when I put it up - OK it was some time ago!
I didn't want to say anything. . .
 18.
This one is based on the one made for Benny rietvield (Known as Santana bass player)
I know this is a really late response but doesn't Benny Rietveld play an MTD 535?
 19. Was offered a gig via a keys player & a drummer that's walking distance from my house, 45 minutes set, no money but as much beer as I could drink. Quite fancied it until I discovered they wanted to play a 45 minute funk swampy jam thing with Cissy Strut as a base. Nothing wrong with the basic song but trying to drag it out for over half an hour on a New Year's eve seemed like signing my own death warrant so I pulled out! A friend who was going to play guitar went along for a tentative rehearsal & said it was awful & pulled out as well - this is a man who will walk several miles for a free beer so God knows how bad they were. . .
 20.
Haven't photo'd the ES225 yet but here's a link to an identical one... and similar in condition too by the looks http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prodimages...int%20large.jpg
Now that is nice
 21.
Mark Plattie bowies producer at the time was playing 2nd guitar to earl slick and swapped with gail on ashes, the dvd/video is worth a look too...especially wild is the wind, oh you guessed im a bowie nut, whoops.
I really like this live album, some great versions of some of Bowie's best songs. I always thought Earl Slick was a great name for a guitarist! There's a great bit on the show when Bowie says "Earl Slick on guitar" and it sounds so cool - sorry, also an old Bowie freak here. One of the things I remember about this show was that it was the first time I was able to watch something on TV, see that there was a recorded version available, log on to the internet on a 14.4 modem & buy it from Amazon. It was delivered within 48 hours and the whole process was painless. At the time it seemed amazing but of course it's now everyday stuff.
 22. Had a quick play on this again today, lovely feel, action lower than a very low thing indeed and looks gorgeous in the flesh. Pics don't really do it justice
 23. If the pickups are brand new I'm guessing it didn't have the originals when you bought it?
 24.
Season ticket owner?? That's expensive, think of the great basses you could buy with that. I'm also a season ticket holder but a West Ham ST isn't anywhere near as expensive as an Arsenal ST. As for the trade, now if it was a Les Paul I'd be interested but single coils just don't do it for me. Sorry.
Arse ST is about £1,300 for upper tier, 10 rows from the front on the 18 yard line - second most expensive block. Would only just get me one bass a year and I find the bi-weekly trek to the library somewhat cathartic I'm one of those vaguely rare Arse fans who thinks we shouldn't be spending zillions buying new players all the time and support Wenger's theory of bringing in new young players and letting them find their feet. I also think it's better when we don't cruise to an easy win at every bloody home game - where's the fun in that eh? I had loads of arguments with fellow Arse fans about the 4-4 with Spurs recently. Absolutely brilliant game to be at with an amazing atmosphere, exactly what I think footy is supposed to be all about. Thing that cracked me up was a couple of mates arguing with me & it turned out they'd left before the end and missed the real fun - a bit like 3/4 of the Spurs fans as it happens!
 25. I must admit that parts of this month's comparison did leave me a little baffled as I didn't think that there would be many people out there who would have lined up this particular mix of instruments as a genuine selection prior to an actual purchase. I could see a 'UK Luthier's" type article with GB, Overwater, Sei, Shuker et al or high end continental Europeans / USA super expensive / exotic jazzes etc. etc. but this group baffled me a little. I agree, to an extent, that once you're over £1,500 then price becomes less important to a degree but even so I would have expected something like this to have matched a set of basses within say £200 - £300 rather than the wider gap that meant they were almost having to apologise for how good the GB might have been. It felt to me like someone had come up with the idea for the article but failed to get the actual basses sorted for a really good direct comparison. So many potential basses to choose from but this was a bit of a mish mash for me. Still, made me think I must try a GB some time Maybe they should ask BC people if they could borrow a few basses, between us we could find enough really interesting instruments to fill a few magazines' worth of articles! PS - If there are any Bass magazine journos on this site then I'd recommend a new proof reader, every issue has mistakes in it and, in these days of computerised checking processes, it's a bit crap to spot typo and layout mistakes every month - apologies if this makes me sound a pernickety old git
