1. One is bad enough! 2 I hate, any more and it's just nonsense! And what the hell is a "rhythm guitarist" anyway?????? Pain in the arse!
2. First weekend back after a month off........band members on holiday etc...... The Rhondda Hotel. The guy who does the sound is useless, I'd avoid playing there at all costs. The most unbearable onstage sound I've ever heard, what makes it worse is even when he realised there were various problems he had no idea how to sort them out...A continuous resonating kick drum, a ridiculous boingy feedbacking snare and a very poor DI signal from the bass (so I'm told)....who cares..... that's your job mate and by the way you aint doing it very well. The Martyrs Club Merthyr Tydfil. Punters pleased, tidy enough sound (no sound guy, thank f***!) all happy!.
3. First question I'd ask myself is....Do YOU think the track needs a bass solo?
4.
I think I can do the clicks, thanks, its the drum sounds that are muddying the water, but I am interested in Jase's idea of an ad - I hadnt considered that.
Go for it! WoT and others mentioned the visual thing...that's a huge thing for me, also it's a great way to actually start teaching yourself that you HAVE to listen to the players you're working with. Find your own personal groove and feel, you'll know when you hear/feel it. Good luck!
5.
Playing to a click is an art... it's not easy! Remember, if the drummer's timing is OK, who cares about the click? Jerry Lee Lewis didn't use one.
I'd rather not use one,...... don't think I could actually.
6. You'll be there for ages before you actually get to a point when your in total sync with your Zoom. Maybe place an ad and get with a drummer so you can actually start to get a feel for the whole bass and drums thing.
7.
Saw an ebay listing lately for an Ibanez Musician, ridiculous price, "rare" this, "vintage" that. Just kinda got me thinking, apart from the obivous ones, which basses are gonna be the next 'sought after' ones?
Maybe.. early Overwaters????
8. That looks great without the pickguard and just the pick up cover!
9. It's always down to the player for me, interesting read though. Letting the wood breathe......if this is true, then shouldn't we all have bare natural wood finishes for our basses?
10.
Picking up the Squier tomorrow. Cheers everyone
When you get it slap it in the porn thread
11.
Jase,I hunted through the book"The Fender Bass:an illustrated history" and could find no reference to such a beast.I must admit,it looks pretty sharp.Think I'll go for it!
What! No maple beauties in the Fender Porn mag? What are these book people like?
12. Depends what they're offering.

15. Don't do it!!!! Don't become a GUITARIST!!!! Nooooooooooo, we're losing a brother! Nah! godd luck mate, wish I could play two instruments
16. Another bass just popped into my head....my acoustic, nothing fancy, a cheapish German make, the name I can't quite remember....still, shouldn't have sold it!
17.
Phew ! I managed to pull it off ! OK - I'll stop now - unless me & you Jase turn it into a double ententre thread & see if anyone notices or joins in.
There are a few guys here that would beat me hands down in that dept...legends they are...legends I tell ya!
18.
Sorry, I've been waiting ages to use that line. I couln't help it - it's done now.
Nah, don't mind me mate.....I was just fooling around myself.
19.
The amount of basses and women I've let slip through my fingers :brow:
That's just rude.
20.
Erm - I know it's supposed to wear quickly, I read up on it & and test drove a couple before buying it - I was letting the bloke who started the thread know, Like I said I don't like pretty basses - mine is (was) the midnight wine red. I feel bad owning such a great bass but only being a hobbyist bassist, I should let it go to a better place but it's just really good or I could join a band. I hope sarcastic replies to helpful posts dodn't turn this site into the USA version where everyone tries to look a bit cleverer than the last bloke - let's keep it nice & have lots of love in our posts. Peace be with you - the rest can f**k off. (joking)
USA version...they make an American Basschat Nooooo, you're pulling my leg!
21. Nooooo, not this again! Mine was a 76 possibly 78 P bass with a 57 maple neck. I regret that so much, it gets me down.
22. Can't forget our Jack!
23. Get together with a drummer that CAN keep time and practice, also try and learn counting rather than sitting there with a metronome at 80bpm...drive anybody nuts that!
24. Got me looking at one now! Badass bridge, reinforced neck, 70's logo....yep I want one!
