1. US "made" Jazz Basses came in honey blonde, think they would be H1's with Z...serial no's on the head stock. I don't think the H1's had the sealed F logo machine heads.
2.
Okay cheers guys. I think my old Zoom 506 (if thats what it's called!!) has a head phone input so should get away with using that.
I sometimes use my antique Zoom 607 with headphones for practice, cracking little number I've had it ages still comes with me on gigs too!
3. Pick ups sold. Just the P. Guard left.
4.
He said... "As an all-emcompassing statement, the players who make me want to BE them are Percy Jones, Mick Karn, John Taylor, Nick Beggs, Alun Vaughan, and I loved Squarepusher from the first time I heard it." I was, and still am, enormously chuffed Cheers Alun
Nice one! If my name was mentioned in the same breath a Percy Jones...I'd die happy!
5. There should be more solo stuff going on with bass players, loopers, samples, sound fx, anything that puts bass at the forefront, instrumental, vocal...I think it's great the solo thing is growing. Just like any other instrument bass is entitled to be solo! MORE BASS SOLO! it's the only way
6. Have a look here: http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php
7.
Not sure what's happening with the Singleton these days - they keep starting and stopping music. Jazzland in the Uplands is great on Wednesdays for jazziness
When are you down these parts ARGH? Took my dog to Ponty Park today, the Jazz was rained off then?
8. Just like to say, managed to get my Dimarzios in with not too much bother, although my control cavity on my Jazz looks like an exploded tin mine!!!!
9.
Let me know when you're next in the Hanbury, I'll try and just happen to be visiting her that night Although as I haven't drunk for a year or so, she might see through my "let's go the pub" suggestion Editted for useless typing!
Will do Alun ARGH, I think there's a gig called The Singleton too.
10. I think I'm supposed to use a low B on a Nickelback cover we do......Never Again. I can't be arsed with the Detuning so I bump along the riff in E or sometimes tune down to D and make it up. The Low tuning thing for me is just toooo low but it is very effective in certain tracks/bands.
11.
i do exactly this- i have just a bridge pickup, straight to the jack. actually, i have a killswitch in between it. as shown here:
DAMN...you beat me too it That's what I was going to do!!!
12. Hey ARGH! get yourself down The Office in Swansea for some Rock/Metal bands, not sure who's there shortly, I'm there in a month though! Hang on.... it might be Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Either way it's a good gig generally.
13.
Oi. my girlfriend live in Bargoed - it is a dive though, you are quite correct
My wife is a Bargoed girl, her family are still there too, lovely people, I lived in Henry St for a while....and I still play in The Hanbury
14.
I spent a lot of time in South Wales during the early '90's. I dont think there is a pylon or piece of switchgear I didn't have some role in painting. For my sins I lodged in Bargoed, Swansea, Tenby and Barry and a dozen others. When it came to Brains bitter I refused. When the locals moaned at us English lads for doing all the work, we promptly offered them a start the next day. None ever turned up. I suppose it's hard when you meet blokes from the Black Country though!
What the hell were you doing in sh*tty Bargoed????
15.
odd...i never use the bridge pickup on mine.
Take it out
16.
A slight kind of suggestion; Why not keep the neck p'up, but modify it so it doesn't sense the strings, and just acts as a hum-cancelling dummy? *thinks* Would removing the magnet(s) from it have that effect? If your bridge p'up is hum-cancelling in and of itself, just ignore me, naturally.
Naturally.
17. There's something in the water in Merthyr......mad...all mad!
18. Thanks bigred.
19. So what about removal of the tone pot....what would the bridge pick up sound like with out one?
20.
I was thinking of making a custom Jazz a while back... never got around to it though. It'd have just one bridge p/up, a scratchplate without the pickup cutout and a control plate with just the two knobs, and the ashtray fitted over the bridge.
That's the ticket, exactly what I want to do!!
21. Ello, Does anybody here just use the bridge pup on there Jazz at all times, or has any body just not bothered to wire up the neck pup? I just don't use the neck pup at all EVER, at gigs I just turn it right down these days....I used to have just a slight suggestion of it but nothing worth talking about. So what I'd like to find out is....can I just leave it unconnected, take it out, take the pot out and put a rubber bung in it????? Ta Jase,
22. Is anybody interested in doing a straight swap? My S1 controls from 2003/4 Jazz for your straight US Jazz controls? I can get a pic if anyone's interested.
23. There's a twist in it somewhere, that E string is miles out.
24. I think it's also worth taking into account that they're designed for the Hydrive cabs.
