Price - £260 Hi folks I have a TC Electronic BG500 210 combo for sale In a nutshell - 500 watts through 2 x 10 inch speakers this is a really nice sounding, loud small combo. Features include; Built in tuner Built in compressor Built in tube tone simulator Memory preset function Headphone socket Low, Low Mid, High Mid, High tone controls Preset contour tones (x 2) Condition - very, very good. It is very clean and in perfect working order. It has been used for many gigs, but has always been well cared for as all my gear is. There are no issues whatsoever. Reason for sale - I love this combo however despite being small (easily fitting in the boot of the average family car) it is HEAVY (approx 75 - 78 lbs) and following three slipped discs I am looking to downscale to something much smaller and lighter... I always D.I. through the PA so really don't need this kind of volume anymore. I was happy to lug this heavy little bad boy around because I love the sound and features, but am gigging much less these days. Pick up in person would obviously be best, I am on the West Coast of Scotland in Helensburgh (approx 20 miles north of Glasgow), or alternatively I can arrange to deliver/meet up in the Glasgow area by mutual agreement for no extra cost whatsoever..

I am fond of GMR basses, they are excellent value for money and nicely hand made. In this case I totally agree that the headstock is uninspiring and lets the bass down; I admire your aspirations for this bass and don't think there is anyone better than Mr Shuker to do the necessary. Please keep us in the loop with progress and the finished result. Very cool.

Modern = contemporary, not antiquated... up to date. In my opinion relevance is more important than being modern as modern has a close association with that which is currently fashionable. Modern bass player = up to date, contemporary and closely aligned to current trend (even if that is a trend for old technology or ideology) Relevant bass player = meaningful and impactive (often regardless of the norm or current trend)

Thinking of quitting bass. Opinions please
I'm feeling slightly better. I need to stop worrying and rethink my goals. When I started I would of been really pleased with my current ability.
That's right! Its all about perspective. I get the impression that bass playing actually does a lot for you...so do more of it bro and enjoy the journey. -
I hope your second line was earnest and not flippant... That's quite a lot easier to say than do for a lot of people.
Absolutely earnest and completely sincere. I don't do flippant. -

Recommendations for a light, slim neck 5 string please?
White Cloud replied to lastanthem88's topic in General Discussion
I had an ibanez sr1205 and that was a great bass. Ticks all your boxes.
I have gigged my Ibanez Sr 1205 religiously for 4 years now, weddings, pubs, clubs and parties. I can confirm that it fully meets your criteria. Superb, lightweight, slim necked 5 string. Oh, and it sounds amazing also! -
Seriously good jazz basses, the necks are sublime. Lakland's are on the money...I owned a DJ for a few years and it was much better than my nice vintage Fender Jazz.
^ Cheers guys! It's certainly made me see Cort in a new light; I'd always overlooked them in the past. The Bass Lounge had a very nice Cort Artisan in stock when I visited - this one - which had the quality of an instrument at least twice its price. Really good basses for the money, it seems. PS: I think Jeff Berlin is happy to change his tune about 5-strings when it comes to promoting product...
.....money talks!!! I have a lot of love for Jeff and Cort, he's a legend and they are great basses...I must have a try on one. I used to own the Dean JB signature model and it was ridiculously playable.
Ok When? - I ask, as over the years I've been a fan of JB's playing (well, before he found a chorus pedal) and I can't recall this - what I've read is that a five isn't his instrument and that he prefers passive pickups - but I'd like your source as its an interview that I'd be interested in reading or watching.
Bass guitar magazine, issue 38 - Sept/Oct 2008 (it's in my hand as I type this) Empirical evidence my'lord!
When did he say this?
He has actually said it consistently in most of his interviews to anyone who would listen. He also has a severe downer on active basses. Superb player...outspoken though! ....oh, and that is a beautiful bass btw :-)

I love roundwounds, I love the feel, I love the look and I love the noise they make. Roundwounds are rightwounds. I love roundwounds.

Good stuff - but an awkward name in this climate...

John Entwistle or Chris Squire, who do you prefer and why?
White Cloud replied to The-Ox's topic in General Discussion
Entwistle shades it for me because of THAT sound he generated from the Alembic destroyer and the physicality of his finger style. Despite strongly disliking pick playing on the bass Squire had an almost equally immense sound on the "Close to the edge" recording...phenomenal. He really was a monster. Both bands had a significant influence on my formative years - however I prefer Yes's music to the Who's. -
Beautiful bass, I cant wait to see the results.

Not sure about the washers...but I love the beer. Delicious!
