1. Blimey, what an unusual instrument to have. Ickle, ickle bass
2.
I'm aiming to get a picture of all my non-Spectors together.....
It would be a treat to see the Jackson Kip Wingers and the RJ & RS Peaveys.
3.
Only a few clicks and the postman could bring me something I don't need, but quite like the look of!
4. Billy Sheehan's intro to "Had Enough" off of the 1st Mr.Big album...
5. I've been reading Bass Player since 1991, when Billy Sheehan was on the cover. I have a subscription which makes it much cheaper and easier than going to WH Smith or wherever every month. I've always found it a great read and I'll even read the interviews with people I've never heard of. You always get a different and interesting point of view. I have read the UK's Bass Guitar Magazine, but it doesn't hold a candle to BP. The writing and reviews are not up to the same standard and I don't particularly like the lessons either. As usual just my point of view....
6. This is the worst bit of the waiting. So close but yet so far.....
7. Nice threesome
8. That is one amazing looking bass Can't wait to see the finished result!!
9. Geez, what a great collection Spectors have always been one of my favourite basses. I remember playing an older USA NS2 and it was unreal, so my fave of your armoury has to be the black 80's NS2 !!
10. It's a simple fix. Just make a note of where all the wires go, then detach the pots , buy new ones (take the old ones into a store so you get the right replacements) then solder in the new pots. There's a "soldering 101" video on YouTube and a soldering kit can be had for £10-15. I was terrified of soldering, but bought a kit and practiced on a couple of bits of wire (my wife help a well as she's done some soldering before). Now I'm not great at it, but I can maintain the electronics in my instruments. Good luck!!
11. Try here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...20&start=20 He's one of my students and has a Peavey Grind 6 string for sale in your price range....
12. Carvin's are waaayyy under-rated. I've seen a video of the factory tour and they have some serious CNC stuff. Their QC is top-notch as well.
13. That's one great looking bass!! Congrats on the new addition
14. Those older Thumbs are just fantastic basses!! Congrats on the new addition

MTD 535...

What ya waiting for?? Get on the train
16. You just need to take one of the knobs off and measure the shaft of the pot. Then you can check which knobs will fit. I put "guitar knobs" into Google and few places came up. Good luck !!

wow

You'd have to have some to adjust the tone for you when you play it Very cool bass though!!
18. It took me a fair few years before I ordered my Sei bass www.seibass.com 'Jezebel' (as my wife called it) sits pride of place in my rack. for a 7 string, the Sei is surprisingly light and that, combined with the neck profile, makes it a great bass to play. It sounds pretty good too. The newest addition is the James Tyler bass I bought a couple of weeks ago. I've played a lot of 4 string basses, but the Tyler takes some beating. It's incredibly light (it could be made of Mamywo - waiting for Tyler to confirm this), but the neck shape is unbelivably comfortable. It has an 18v Demeter preamp with switchable mids which I'm still trying to decipher. I'm looking forward to getting an ACG 9 string later this year. The facings of mahogany are going to be teamed with an acrylicised spalted maple 'board. It's going to be an amazing instrument both in looks and sound.
19. It's not raspberry (or pink) IT'S BURGUNDY MIST (as I would say when I owned an Urge Mk1 in that very same colour ). £800 seems about the right price for a Mk1 (I sold mine for a little more than that just a week or so ago), so maybe a bit more for an Urge II... I would say that anyone looking for a quality precision or jazz bass should have a serious look at this bass. Essentially it's the best of both worlds but with more tonal options as it contains both passive and active circuitry. These basses don't come up too often and I'm sure that the person who buys this bass will be extremely happy with their purchase !!
20. Wasn't there an interview with Roger Sadowsky recently in which he said that the pre in Marcus Miller's bass was a Bartolini ??
21. Geez, what a result..... Some great work there
22. Geez, now even I'm getting tempting by these SX bargains (and I don't usually like J's)
23. Blimey, not another one of these questions.... This is all down to personal taste. How would you measure best?? Lightest, loudest, smoothest or perhaps the most colourful. Weight could be a good one as then you'll know how much bass you're getting for your money In that case, my 14lb of Conklin GT7 wins and the Korean factory who produced Groove Tools stuff gets the prize It's a bit like asking "what's the best bass"......
24.
A beautiful job. I've nothing but admiration for anyone who can turn a tree into something so nice. Take a bow.
I totally agree
25. Extremely well done !! Also proves that spares from Warwick don't cost a fortune....
