Wen I repositioned the button on my 'snowy-white' epi t-bird, I put a strap button screw in the hole with a nylon washer under it. Looks like a pointless bit of trim, but neater than a hole and possibly slightly less pointless than a non-used strap button. Last time I was asked what it was I said it was a laser and refused to demonstrate it for fear of blinding someone.

I'd have thought everything you NEED to know about a precision/jazz bass could be said on about four pages plus a few pics.

I have d-tuners on four of my basses, but not had this issue. Would a bit of ptfe tape help?

I had a very noticable dead spot on my highway 1 jazz. A fatfinger clamped to the headstock cured it.

It was a while ago, but they might still have some.

I'd get a standard MIJ alder jazz body from brandoni for about £100, colour it the desired colour with woodstain and then danish oil it - I did this (but with a lighter woodstain) on a brandoni tele body & it looks great and was very easy to apply. You could probably get a suitable neck from brandoni as well. Then build it up with whatever hardware suits the budget.

Headphones are great for practicing alone, but I think there's a need to shift a little air for a rehearsal even if it means using acoustic guitars etc.

Dear Mr Coppolo, would you like me to design a high mass headstock for your basses which doesn't look like a club foot?

If you are making a noise which is a nuisance to other other people, turn it down or use headphones. Its not difficult.

I guess its good for my bank-balance that Warmoth don't do mustang bass bodies & necks. If they did I'd fancy a fenderbird based on a firebird-type guitar body & mustang neck.

I can't stand it when rehearsals are used to practice rather than rehearse. Waste of everyone's time & money. Too many people don't know the difference.

It sounds best with a preamp (behringer ADI-21 works well for me) and the shorter the cable the better. I built an upright one from a length of 2" x 2" hardwood from the local timber merchant. I used a cheapo piezo element from maplin as the pickup, a keyhole cover as the tailpiece and bits of chopstick for bridge saddle & nut.

It looks like the bridge has been cut low as the neck angle has changed. I think the neck needs to be set at the proper angle and then a new bridge fitted. Not that I'm an expert of course. edit - just seen prosebass has said much the same thing
