1. Yes, but what I'm concerned about is the overall sound coming out of the PA. But yes, I take your point. But I think as long as the source is good, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
2. Oh, I was looking at these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shure-E3C-Headphon...7144&sr=8-5 or these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/custome...7144&sr=8-4
3. Hi all! I play with a functions group that plays predominantly Soul music. Last gig I was unimpressed with the sound of my bass out front - I only heard it when I turned my amp right down and played. Very boomy. I played around with the mixer (we do our own sound) until it sounded fine - basically highs and high mids were turned down, simple as that. Now, what I'd like is, when we're soundchecking, to use a pair of sound-cancelling earphones running from the mixing desk (which is close to me on stage) to make sure I'm sitting nicely in the mix. It's important because there's a mixture of fingerstyle funk & slap. Perhaps I could even use these earphones (or just one in) while we're playing to monitor the sound. Now, I know the ideal way is to get wireless in-ear monitors - we will get them eventually, I have used them before and LOVE them, so I know it's a good investment. But will this plan work? Or will it get overloaded or something like that? Any help appreciated :-) Regards Mike
4. Keep an eye out on Gumtree, Adtrader, SOSpubs (Sound on Sound), Freeads and Loot. Though I would tend to prefer to pick them up to avoid being scammed.
5. Er, yes, just doing my duty as a BC Citizen! Bump! Mike PS Or is it Denizen?
6. All completely unhelpful posts, probably causing the threadstarter much anguish when he thinks it's being snapped up, but we're standing around gawking like braindead idiots!
7. Very nice, I just picked up a 5 string of these. Superb instrument!
8. Nice cococobolobo....or whatever it is! Reminds me a bit of some Alembic basses. Specs look great, by the way.
9. That jazz is lush! Yours will be great!
10. Heh - nice. Aren't you going to have those metally twiddling things on there? Or those long flappy thin metal finger rests?
11.
Allianz Cornhill (formerly British Reserve) is regarded as the best. The vast majority of professional musicians use them, myself included. http://www.allianzmusicalinsurance.co.uk/i...ents/insure.htm
Do these guys do bass guitars? Looking at getting a quote, it doesn't appear so. Cheers Mike
12. Have you tried installing/reinstalling the drivers? It worked for me when I ran into problems with my US 122. Try here: http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/download.../US-122-driver/ Or just search "Tascam US 122 Driver" Hope that helps! Mike
13. Nice. I just bought a Streamer Stage 1 the other day. Awesome bass!
14.
Tom sorted out two VIP tickets for myself and Wes. We had, what I considered the two best seats in the house (thanks for that Tom). Three days before the gig, Tom brought his Zoot in for a set up and we also installed a neat little gizmo into the bass called a "Redeamer Install". The gig was fantastic and the Zoot bass sounded amazing as well. Wes & I also enjoyed the after gig party with Tom.
Sounds good, Mike! Tell us more about this mysterious "Redeamer Install" !! Mike
15. Well, I'm hooked. Best of luck with the refin. I love these basses.
16. It seems that everyone's played Herbie's bass apart from me, I feel somewhat left out. Thanks for the interesting thread & responses!
