1.
Pics or it doesn't exist!
I haven't got it yet
2.
Up the Irons
oh yes
The SH bass comes with the 0.50 Rotosound flats right? I can imagine the flats would be very high tension. I can't even get on with the 0.45 roto flats.
It does, we'll see how it goes. I might take it to a Policed gig tomorrow night, see how it sounds during the soundcheck
3. Just received an email from Andertons that it's in stock. So I've bought it. Hopefully Saturday delivery (Ive paid for it) I've been an 'Arry fan since 1981, when Bruce joined the band. Maiden went to Italy to do a few gigs to get Bruce settled in. My brother's band 'The Raff' supported them on a couple of the dates. So I went and bought the first 2 albums. Loved it. I'm also a West Ham fan. I don't need another Precision, which I always think is the best reason to buy it. Pictures when it arrives
4. Occasionally I get my old Steiny XL-2 out. used to have a hohner B2A. I love the headless thing, it's cool
5.
Is it wrong i prefer these knobs over the other 2 styles they have.
It's the law!! no more , no less
6. I'm with Lozz. PF500, set fairly flat, ultra low always on. Some or other P bass derivative (maybe the spector) but always a great sound
7.
I've got one of these in sunburst - first thing I did was take the scratchplate off, in a shameless tribute to him. I also swapped the cheapo knobs from some proper teacup ones, purely for aesthetic reasons. Finally, and most importatly, get some decent strings on it! It will be twice the bass it is now! Mine's wearing Hofner flats, withthe green silk windings. The bass thumps so beautifully now, it's a wonderful little thing.
I've got the Jubilee one. No pickguard, teacups and La Bella flats. It's a great sound. Great bass.
8. pickguard off please a la Macca. I love violin basses and one day I'll buy a German one
9. Chris Slade has played with almost everyone. His Facebook page has a picture of him standing with Tom Jones and Elvis. I was lucky enough to front his pub band for a charity gig a couple of years ago. Very nice chap and a great drummer. Nice to see Stevie Young using Malcolm's old Gretsch too. I thought highway to hell was a little slow tbh but that could be because I've been playing it too fast for the past 25 years!!
10. I thought it was Japan. Very Mick Karn and David Sylvian. Very good though. really atmospheric stuff
11. Anyone tried one? Just curious to see what anyone thinks. They're cheap enough
12. cool, I always thought it was a 50s bass. Thanks fo the info
13.
Steve's number one has a maple body according to mike kenney
Really? is it a Fender body? what year is his #1 bass?
14. just done a quick google, John Gold used to run the shop. Works for Fender Europe now (So it says on the forum I've just found this info)
15. The Fender website says it's got a 2 piece maple body!! Surely not. I like the tinted headstock, looks like the nicotine stained 70's headstocks
16. I thought it was just amazing. It was the owner of Allbang & Strummit IIRC
17. at that price I'll have to buy one. My brother's band supported Maiden on an Italian tour when Bruce first joined and I've been a SH fan ever since. Plus I support WHUFC. COYI
18. thanks folks, that is what I thought but just needed to check
19. does an octave below mean the same as a bass though?
20. How are they tuned. Are the bottom 4 strings the same as a normal bass guitar? Stupid question really but I'd like a definitive answer please.
21. apart from the mis-matched wood, I quite like it. Would prefer normal jazz bass controls and a tort guard though
