  1. I've no idea what that is mate always wanted a CE-2. Still not arrived though, everybody on strike etc
  2. cheers. My friend has used a CE2 in all the 35 years that I have known him. It is THE chorus pedal for me, whatever the cost. I look forward to popping this into my pedal board and removing the CH-1 that I've hated for nearly 20 years (I had a CE-3 and didn't like that much either)
  3. I bid (and won) at the Gardiner Holgate auction recently. Boss CE2, 1981 black label, made in Japan. For me, THE chorus pedal. Eagerly awaiting delivery Pictures to follow
  4. I must admit, that's a mighty fine trio. I'm a P bass man (albeit Mustang mainly these days) but if you need to cover everything, a Jazz and a Stingray alongside a P does it in spades. I've never actually had all 3 at the same time but I have considered adding a stingray p/up and associated electronics to my F/less P bass (and maybe a fretted neck too) Perhaps it's time for a bitsa Jazz (although I do hanker for a Betsy Bass)
  5. This is a mighty fine replacement. I have this pickup in my fretless P bass. It sounds really excellent. Keep the old pickups though, maybe send them away for a rewind. I've used Aaron Armstrong (son of legend, Kent Armstrong) with great sucess
  6. I've gone with comply tips, medium size. Squash em up and insert Yesterday's gig, duo, small venue with the QSC K12s behind us. With the comply tips I couldn't hear the K12s at all. Very good isolation. I'm still getting over a really bad cold, so my head is still a bit blocked. I've had my ears 'hoovered' but my cold is still causing me grief. Tinnitus still very prominent atm. I'm still really impressed with this simple KZ10 pros and P2. My keys player tried them yesterday too and by the 2nd set was really enjoying it.
  7. I was lookig for a s/h one of theses but eneded up with the 8 ohm version for 100 quid. very happy with it tooo
  8. The cat (Tobi) left us 8 years ago. There used to be date codes on the neck but I couldn't decipher them in the early 90s. All there is, is a folded piece of paper, acting as a neck shim, with a note saying to ring Jimmy Page. He was not impressed when we phoned the number I'll get a vernier and measure the width and depth at the first fret
  9. so good people of BC I have owned my '73 P bass for just over 32 years now and I have never played another P bass with the same shape neck profile. The 70s jap reissue has a shallower profile. PB70 US My JMJ Mustang, however, has the same shape. I've not even measured it so cant be sure of nut width. But are the depths different for the different nut widths? gratuitous pictures of said '73 for your delectation
  10. rothco and frost do the logos. All you'll ever neeed
  11. for many years I have used dunlop tortex 1.14mm purple. I have loads of them. I stash them in my car just in case I forget them. I shove in the top of my pickguard at the end of the gig, so it's there for the next gig. It evens wears the paint off where I store them. I also play a lot with my thumb these days, this comes from copying Sting in my tribute. My blues rock band is about 50/50 pick vs thumb these days
  12. indeed. They really are quite compact. I'll give it a blast later. I might take the day off today. I have a stinking cold and have had very little sleep again (on top of yesterdays 400 mile round trip to collect said cab. (I had to go quite a way for a work thing, then just added collection on top))
  13. Good point Blue. My first gig was in 1981. I had just turned 13 and been playing for 4 months. The drummer was 12, his dad ran a hugely succesful local dance band, his older brothers played drums and guitar, we had so much support from his dad. His dad recently turned 90 and is still looking great. He was a rock to us, gave us great advice etc. Let us rehearse in his house. We only did the one gig but we practiced together for a few years, went a bit reggae and we had a 3 piece brass section (they were young Royal Marines. The RM school of music was very nearby in Deal. A place very close to my heart) I have been gigging ever since, The drummer, Andy, eventually played keys for Toyah for nearly 20 years
  14. we were, yes. It was awesome fun and an incredible gig
  15. I have just scored an RM410 Evo II cab on ebay Will be collecting tomorrow, it's in fantastic condition and was a bargain. I have a new band project which may need a slightly bigger cab than my pub set up
  16. A few years ago I played at the Matala beach festival in Crete, with my Police tribute. We didn't get paid but We were flown out there, met by our driver at the airport and driven to out hotel, then the festival. We were there for 3 days, played on the saturday night, flown home on the Monday. Matala has beach caves, which joni mitchell sand about Here's a few pictures It was an amazing experience. If I never did another gig, at least I did this one. It was huge. You can see the caves behind us
  17. Yep I know Phil used them. I just want nice natural thump really. I love the JMJ sound but will need a spare bass on my new band project and as I have several P basses, one of those with flats should do it. I dont think I'm looking for a scooped sound, it's weird isn't it. P bass + rounds has worked for me my whole gigging life, when I wanted the bass upfront in the mix etc. Easy to temper the rounds with a bit (ok a lot) of right hand muting at the bridge. But I am loving the feel of the JMJ with flats. My new band is an Americana project with some really amazing players, so I feel flats and a nice laid back feel should work well
  18. I dont want any more tension on the JMJ, I just want to P bass to feel nice. I have some cheap Olympia flats on it 45-105 and they're way to stiff. I used it at a gig and had to put it down after 2 numbers and went to the JMJ. How do they feel on the Classic 50s P bass
  19. I love the fender long scale flats that come as standard on the JMJ Mustang I would like to have similar on a P bass I have. How would the same strings feel on a P bass. My yard stick here is, Rotosound RS66 swing bass, on all my P basses. Tension is fine 45-105 on the rounds I'd like a similar tension to the Rotos please, without buying hundreds of sets I ask because I have joined a new band doing Americana stuff. I'll use the JMJ but would like a P bass backup with flats (I have plenty of P basses with rounds) TIA you fantastic lot
  20. I have DTB on my Hofner. They make a great thud but they do make my fingers sore. The Fender flats on my Mustang JMJ don't hurt my fingers at all. The La Bellas seem higher tension to me
