1. My take on the original poll was that 'who's your top bassist' meant 'favourite', or who influenced you most. Terms like 'best' are complete nonsense in this context.
2. 1. Bernard Edwards 2. Duff McKagen (the reason I bought my first bass at 16 was GnR) 3. Flea These are the ones who have influenced me most in the important early years. Rutger Gunnarsson (ABBA) is in 4th place, but only just.
3. Duff McKagen's use of chorus is pretty good with GnR. Slightly cheesy rock song, but I love the sound of his chorus-y bass line in You Could Be Mine: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoJOl1C_1cQ
4. Funnily enough, I've just ordered one! Will let you know how it pans out - has good reviews over at TB.
5. This is a great little tribute to Chic and Bernard: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=s4VfG0oFe3k Enjoy

Pedaltrains?
initial thoughs are good. Its a neat desing and the hard case looks like it will survive a nuclear winter! Its also got room for my shuttle footswitch and leads and cables in the case too.
Where did you order yours from, may I ask?
7. Check out Gallien Krueger; maybe the 700RB-II (480w), or 1001RB-II (700w). Powerful lightweight amps, and not too expensive.
8. Just the one! Needs to be a 3.5mm jack at either end by the looks of things, one end being positive tip for the compulator... May I place an order?!
9. Hi there, Anyone know where I can obtain a power cable to run from a Dunlop DC Brick to a Demeter Compulator, which I believe requires a positive tip jack. Cheers, Julian
10. Groove Is In The Heart - Deee Lite Bootsie? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKTCW4oxS6I
11. You're the One That I Want - Grease (John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John) What a truly great bassline! - anyone know who played it?
12. Someone will have a bargain here....i have the 1001RBI, 2nd hand...cost me £300. Great amp.
13. Well, received my £85 EBS Octabass pedal within 3 days of ordering. Pretty good really.
14. Bass centre currently has some cheap deals on EBS pedals...http://www.basscentre.com/categories.asp?cID=16 Have ordered an Octabass - will be interested to see how long it takes to arrive.
15. 10th April according to Thomann: http://www.thomann.de/gb/mxr_m182_el_grande_bass_fuzz.htm

17. er, you have a message in your inbox!
18. He's just rock solid, isn't he? What I also like is that a lot of what he does is almost obtainable - with a load of hard work and dedication, I may be able to get close. I find a lot of the the really flash stuff a major turn off (I once watched a Bill Dickens vid for example - super fast slapping, but just did nothing for me - it just seemed to be showing off how fast and difficult a line he could slap, with no real other purpose or soul - to me anyway), whereas this guy makes me want to plug in, turn on and get practicing ! Truly inspirational. Plus - no other youtube vid has made me want to play along to Dolly Parton! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGT-jtWAYBY Great fills between 1:30 and 2:00.
19. Check out his files on Youtube. I wish (1) I had his talent, and (2) his collection of classic basses! http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?p=r&...weDK&page=2
20. Check that the strings aren't whacking against the pole pieces of the pick-ups - that's if they're exposed. I find i get a nasty clicking when I dig-in playing my American deluxe jazz, as the strings hit the polepieces. Probably need to lower my pick ups a tad.
21. Here's a couple more cool videos. First one is an interview with Nile Rodgers - with the classic quote at 1:25 about Bernard and what strings he used...brilliant! I think we can all learn a bit from that - it's not so much about your gear, more about what/how you play! Really good introduction to the world of Edwards and Rodgers, Chic & Sister Sledge, and the poignant story of Bernard's premature passing in Japan. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=s4VfG0oFe3k 2nd is a very short clip of Bernard and John Taylor of Duran Duran, during the Power Station collaboration, working on the bass break for Get It On. What bass is it that Bernard is playing? G & L? Stingray without a pickguard? http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=14kXaX5D6Ng
22. Great pedal - wouldn't ever be without mine. My programmable Sansamp BDDI sits gathering dust... Have a free bump.
23. + 4 from me. 969 and counting...
