Hi people - I'm looking to sell my 5-string Ibanez, as I don't use it and I need the funds for something else. I'm probably going to sell it privately to my drum tutor, and I'd like to know a ballpark figure for it. It's had some upgrades - stock pick-ups replaced with EMG 40DC's - stock pre-amp replaced with EMG BTQ system - new bridge (much heavier duty) and nut. Comes with hard-case. Cost £775 12 years ago. I was thinking of around £300. What do you think? Pictures should appear below: -

I've got an H4 and play in a pretty loud band. We record our rehearsals with it. Never overloads or distorts at all, really good recordings. I don't really use the cubase that comes with it - I just upload the wav or mp3 files that I've recorded. Great little unit. -

I love it. But I suppose it depends on what you're after. I was after heavy fat synthy gated sound, which you can get on the more extreme settings.

If you're looking for something Muse-like, I would heartily recommend the MXR Bass BlowTorch. It seems to have a bit of a poor reputation, but I don't think you will find many pedals (for the price) that do the heavy/gated fuzz thing better - it really is the dogs b0ll0cks. It really holds the low end too. I don't think it's strength lies in the more subtle setting that are available; however, when you turn the gain up and engage the Blowtorch, it really does produce a fantastic wall of sound - almost synth-like in intensity, quite gated and compressed. It's the closest thing, in one pedal, to that Hysteria or Starlight tone that I 've come across - although obviously I've not tried as many pedals out there as some people. Combined with a Bassballs, you could probably get close to the Plug In Baby sound too. I have the MI Neo Fuzz pedal too, but it doesn't get anywhere close to the MXR in imitating Mr Wolstenholme in my opinion.

Don't hate me, but I think [b]Rutger Gunnarsson[/b], the chap who played most of the ABBA bass lines, is a superb player... Go on, force yourself to listen to stuff like Money Money Money, Dancing Queen, One of Us... Some great melodic lines.
