1. Bought Ted's Aguilar Filter Twin, and it arrived quickly, well packaged and as described i.e. in brilliant nick. Great comms, good guy. Thoroughly recommend.
2. A great band - and very influential as people have said. Flea was listening to them a lot during the recording of Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
3. You can never have enough dirt pedals. Your mission is to chain them all.
4. Have a bump on me. What a clear out! Is there anything left in the house?
5. I use Transcribe in the same way. There's also a graphic in it so you can bring out the bass in that way AND slow songs down. Brilliant!
6. Probably a stupid question... but is there any way of connecting an MP3 player to these things?
7. Looks absolutely gorgeous! Did you compare it against any Sandbergs, BTW?
8. Hi Ted, We meet again! I'll take this off you. Is a PayPal gift OK? Cheers, Neil
9. Thanks, Paul! What he said, folks! (How the hell do you change topic headings, guys? I can't seem to find a way)
10. +1 to everything above, and: The JB's - Funky Good Time Funkadelic - Let's Take It To The Stage The Reddings - The Awakening Slave - Stone Jam/ The Concept You might want to check out some Primus as well.
11. As a practice amp, my MB112 (the old one) is pretty much perfect. It was just what I was looking for: lightweight, headphones out, line in for MP3s. I've had no problems with it, but then again it hasn't been out of the spare room, and I haven't tried the DI. I figured it would be good for small gigs, like you have, but I have yet to take that step...
12.
Easy, say you bought it as a present for her and everytime you'll use it you'll be thinking about her.
I can tell you've used this argument before! How did it go?
13.
I know loads of "tech" players with theory coming out their arse that have not an ounce of feeling behind their playing, if you play bass then you are a bass player. I find that a player who feels the music and interprates the music with an honest and personal aproach will impart more to a piece of music than someone who is aware of the aceptable chromatic logic in the notes and chords in said peice.
That's pretty much how I define musicality. I think guys like Lemmy and JJ Burnel who play with passion and have carved out their own sound are way more musical than interchangeable, flashy, speed typists. You know who they are. Back to the main question. I'll consider myself a bass player after I gig for the first time. Right now I feel a bit of an impostor.
14. Innit!!! First have to persuade Mrs Prunesquallor.
15. It is a great price, but is it realistic here in the UK? Unfortunately, customs charges and VAT slapped on at the border may increase the price significantly. List prices for stock VM4's at Guitar Guitar are £1300-1500.
16. A luthier he deals with (forgot which one) said his drumming is also better than his bass playing. He's frighteningly talented.
17. Thanks, guys. Looks like I'll have to try a few - although it seems Guitar Guitar and Bass Direct only stock a limited range in the UK. Looking foward to hearing more about your experiences Ghost Bass!
18. Really? What did he modify? Did you get it directly from him? I've heard he's a nice enough guy.
