I use an EBS Multidrive for quite subtle fuzz & my T-Rex Bass Juice for when I want to go batsh*t crazy.

Ed Sheeran used to cover [i]Red[/i] at his live shows, he still mixes it in at the end [i]You Need Me[/i]. Hopefully will help Laid Blak get some more exposure.

I've had the TC RH450 & RS210 since last May, I bought them to replace my GK1001RBII & RBH410 which I loved but wasn't the most practical amp/cab combo when you drive a Pug 206 & live in a first floor flat. I'd decided on going for the Aguilar AG500SC with a couple of 1x12's, and went down to Bass Merchant in Colchester to chat to Darren about it, he'd got the TC stuff in and before I knew it I was home with it. At the end of the day, I pay for my gear and my pockets can't stretch too deep these days, I think it's about balancing what's cost effective, what you want & what is practicable and for me the TC stuff does that - It's a lot easier for me to take my RH450 in it's gig bag to a gig than to lug a rackmounted 1001RBII, rack compressor & rack tuner, and the difference in cab size means I can fit a guitarist & his gear in the pug as well as myself and my gear. In terms of volume it hasn't struggled at all, got a couple funny looks when it first showed up at practice, but the 2x10 doesn't struggle to keep up with the guitar or the drums and it's not being pushed. It's DI'ed at larger shows & I'm more comfortable with the tone it produces DI'ed than I was with my GK head, engineers love it and the gear & tone gets tons of compliments from punters after gigs. Took it to The Mill studio last month and didn't even contemplate using the Mesa head the engineer offered, the RH450 is my tone. (Recorded everything on my Bongo, but came close to using the studios Alembic Orion - Just so I could say I recorded with an Alembic). My use of pedals has gone down since I got the TC rig too, and I wasn't unhappy with the GK tone I had before it. We're playing a couple of festivals over the summer and I'd quite like to have another cab sorted by then, but I won't be too worried if I don't. In summary - It's not flavour of the month for me, the gear does everything it says on the tin & I'm very happy with it. The built in compressor & tuner is a huge bonus & now that I'm used to it I don't think I'd like the inconvenience of not having it. I guess it's like the iPhone, Pioneering and when it came out there was nothing else close, 4 years on and the competitors have caught up, it's not for everyone but it is for me.

My originals band [url="http://www.facebook.com/millionairesbymorning"]Millionaires by Morning[/url] does a few charity gigs, we've had to turn a few down though. As selfish as it is, the coverage that a charity gig can provide for us does play a factor, but we all enjoy playing & if it's local and we're all free then we'll more than likely say yes. Paid gigs are a priority though. We headlined a charity event last week for Suffolk Connexions (a council based youth organisation) with all the profits going to 4YP (Suffolk Young People's Health Project), we've had a dialogue with the council regarding the event for a while now & they paid for all our none PAT tested gear to be tested prior to the event & provided food & drink for us too, we were only out of pocket on petrol which was fairly negligible. I can't speak for the other members of the band, but the charity involved is important to me. I feel I have a duty to know about the charity & what they're about, as I think having my name attached to them is a form of advocacy on my part. I've volunteered some of my time to the projects involved in last weeks gig, as the work they are doing means allot to me. If I felt a venue was profiting from a charity event more than a charity was I think I'd be quite vocal in my objections to it and I doubt we'd be back to play again. In your position I'd be asking if it was the pub who were behind the event? If they are simply a hired venue, it can't really be expected of them to dip into their profits (even if they are up as a result of the event). Whereas if they are organising the event I'd be more worried they'd be exploiting the charity than the bands.

This reminds me of the lawsuits between Joe Satriani & Coldplay last year (If I Could Fly & Viva La Vida) & Cat Stevens & The Flaming Lips a few years ago (Father & Son & Fight Test). It's obvious and inevitable that chord progressions are gonna be reused song after song & by countless artists, however when the melody & phrasing so closely match, it's obvious that something a little less honest is occurring. If an artist covers a song & releases it commercially, the composer is entitled to royalties, I don't really see how this differs, the girl has already conceded she's "taken inspiration" from it. I doubt Anthony Keidis & Co are too bothered about the song, or in need of the extra royalties, but I do think it lacked forethought and respect from Vickers & her label not to clear it before hand. Hopefully it'll get settled out of court and forgotten. /2cents

Went down to Colchester for this. Really good gig, been itching to see Unearth for a while, enjoyed all 3 bands though. Liked the look of your Spector, though it had a couple too many strings for me and the Vigier your guitarist was playing looked stunning too. Really good night.

I bought a load of this from B&Q after using the standard stuff which didn't do the job. Everything has stayed in place since, and it took an in human effort to get my Morley Bass Wah off the pedalboard. I'm sure there are a few products that will get the job done, but would definitely recommend this stuff.

Can hear up to 22KHz (though this is allot quieter than the others), I'm 26 so pretty chuffed :-)

Hi all, My name is Lloyd and I live in Ipswich via Brixton. I've been reading the forum for about 3 years and registered for 2 years. Mostly gawking at the gear pages and trying to tame my G.A.S, thought it about time I said hi to you all. Picked up bass after 12 years of playing organ and 9 or 10 of playing guitar on and off. As much as I loved Rob Harris & John Frusciante, I thought Stu Zender and Flea to be far cooler, so I traded my HSS Strat for a Fender Jazz and off I went. Today my weapon of choice is my 2007 MM 'Ray with maple board, but I also have a Lakland JoBo5 and an Ampeg Dan Armstrong, which don't get the attention they deserve. Along the way, I've had a couple of Fender Jazz's, a Warwick $$ Corvette and a Washburn AB45. My amp is a Gallien Krueger 1001RB II, which is currently partnered to an RBH 1x15 cab, which holds it's own against my guitarists Mesa Boogie Roadster, but might have to go in exchange for a Neo cab, as I'm sick of lugging it up and down stairs (Live on a first floor flat & practice in a dingy bassment). I always visit Cookes when I''m in Norwich, played the natural one when I was trying out my T-Rex Bass Juice before buying, I bought it within about 10 minutes of seeing the add, was a no brainer at that price & I'd saved a few pennies for a rainy day. Not gonna replace my Ray, but it's found a permanent place in my stable already. Played the other one when I picked up mine too, played beautifully too and if I could cope without eating for the next 4 weeks, I'd have bought that one too. Cookes said they had quite a few people watching the auction, can't see it hanging around much longer..

I found this on the bay yesterday it had a sister in natural with a rosewood board that I bought myself, drove up to Norwich to pick it up & checked this one out too, it's new old stock, but it looked completely immaculate, from what the staff where saying, the shop is dropping Lakland & the manager just wants the stock gone. They're awesome basses, it sounded the business & blew me away, just seemed slightly out of place, but then I guess when Les Paul created the Les Paul he didn't invision Zakk Wylde playing it with EMG's through a Marshall wall of sound, so I shouldn't just limit the Fender Jazz, to Jazz & Funk, definitely looks classier than Dave Mustaine's Dean Flying V's.

Ooh Megadeth, saw them in Norwich a while back, James LoMenzo is a god, was playing a Marcus Miller, though he's usually a Warwick man..
