1. Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk B, EBS Multidrive, maybe something EHX would be nice.. as well as Boss. The Boss BF-2 flanger is an awesome sounding effect without being too expensive, as well as the Boss CE-5 chorus.
  2.
By tubes for mids do you mean a tube that has a lot of mids in the tone? Or tubes that break up in the mids? I think someone on here has done a comparison of various tubes - obviously the effect of the individual tube will differ with each preamp design though. Here's a comparison i found on the net, a lot of these are more for guitar though but the description of the tonal characteristics may help you decide on a couple to experiment with...
The former. I like lots of mids. I like the look of this: http://thetubestore.com/goldlionecc83.html
  3. The Hartke looks good. What do you suggest in terms of tubes for mids?
  4.
The current touring rig...
You have no idea how much I want this. The GAS is killing me. You should let people pay to play through it all.. (I'd pay at least 50$ myself..)
  5.
As you are in the USA how about this? http://www.ebay.com/...=item256e4aa7a4 Or maybe this? http://www.ebay.com/...=item2a1b35407f or..... http://www.ebay.com/...=item53ec0f62f6 You can get overdrive by using a pedal if you need to? You may find a full valve amp difficult to come by at $500. Good luck with your search!
Liking the look of that Bugera. Looks like I've found a use for the money I got from selling stuff..
Have you thought of a hybrid amp? Tube preamp / Solid state power amp - much cheaper than all tube and you can drive the pre to get the overdriven tube sound. Its not quite all tube but some come close enough - heck of a lot more reliable on tour too! There's loads around and plenty secondhand.
I was thinking about that. Another possibility would be seperate tube preamp/amp like stated above, although I can't seem to find many tube bass preamps. Mostly, I'm looking for a tube amp for a Phat Phuk B (booster) to drive, to give more overdrive than on a solid state.
  6. Maybe 150W was a bit hopeful. I do like the idea of a tube preamp/power amp combo. What do you suggest for preamps? I was looking at the DHA VT3 EQ: http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/page48.html
  7. No suggestions? *shameless bump*
  8. I really like a lot of Led Zeppelin, even though they maybe wrote 3 songs in their lifetimes. Don't understand the hate, although John Paul Jones can't seem to think up anything good outside Ramble On. ..what's black sabbath?
  9. That display is just confusing.. +1 for TC Electronic instead. I'm sticking with the original.

    Diago Micropower9

Once I'm officially accepted into the band, I think I'll pick up one of these and a Gigman pedalboard. Looks perfect for the small amount of effects I'll need for the band.
  11. Anyone know of any cheap tube amps for a just-beginning-to-gig bassist? the band's played quite a few festivals and such already, i'm looking for something i can afford, maybe around the 150-250W range i think. preferrably under 500$, with a lot of mids and overdrive on tap. any suggestions?
  12. You can't do all that at the same time: I suggest asking about a custom unit or looking somewhere else.
  13. THIS is why I need a time machine! This and the Bass Whammy, of course. Oh, and maybe a Deep Impact..
  14. Zoom B3 would work nicely with a Phat Phuk B for overdrive. I don't know anything about synths, ask Shep about those.

    Rack Effects

I've been looking at rack effects recently. What do you guys use for the actual rack? Effects switchers? (I assume you have a small unit on stage and a bunch of trays with the actual pedals and a switcher in the rack itself) And most importantly, is it worth it? Considering cost, complications in all the signal chain stuff, and space, I'm not sure if it would be worth it... however, lots of people use effects racks so there must be a point. I hope. So tl;dr are rack systems better or worse than actual pedalboards?
  16. http://www.youtube.c...re=inp-lt-music Best Coast is playing currently, interesting band. Not really my sort of thing..
  17.
Hi, Carvin B-4 for sale. I'm not sure what year this was made, personally got it about 4 years ago. Currently fitted with Rotosound flatwounds. Bass is passive, has one single coil pick-up and a humbucker which can be split(the little switch) so you can get quite a few different sounds. Can be tried and tested in Guildford for the moment. Looking for £230. You can contact me at [email protected] or 07876522802.
I like it a lot! You've got mail :-) One thing though: is it just me or does that neck look very badly twisted?
Oh, damn, nevermind.

    Mini Polytune
I'm pretty sure andertons website say they have some in stock as of last week anyways.
Andertons is UK. I need to move to England in about 10 years..

    Mini Polytune
TC Say they are shipping as we speak to be in stores for sale before the end of the month!
Sounds good!
  20.
Does look quite good. Whether you would want it in a sweaty smelly urine soaked pub though is a different matter. What price is an iPad these days anyway?
Less than a pedalboard, power supply/supplies, the pedals themselves, and a bunch of patch cables.

    Mini Polytune
I'll ask - I'm sure US retailers have a date now though.
I think I'll just order one from the above mentioned site, as long as "free shipping" as it says really means free shipping. ..Oh wait, it's free shipping to the UK. :damn: Erm, yes, I would appreciate you asking for me.
