1.
I actually have 2 Bass Whammies! (It's good to keep a back up ) I use the Boss PS-3 mainly for delays and sometimes the occasional bit of noise making (I originally intended to use it with an expression pedal for whammying since you can dial in any harmony combination and blend you want but I preferred the sound of the Bass Whammy). The Wah I really struggled with to get any useful sounds at first. I only really like it with the Q sweep quite low and in front of the Boss PW-2, the heavy mids from the drive give that deep belching sound. I only ever used it for recording and I've replaced it with a Mad Professor Snow White Auto Wah now.
Ah, makes sense. I always hated my bass wah. 2?!?! Good god, man.. I've heard about the Snow White from Gearmandude. Awesome box.
  2.
What it looked like before I ripped it to bits last week. Watch this space for the latest incarnation...
A bass whammy? Ya lucky bastard.. Good luck on that new board though, this one's pretty cramped.. even for what I've seen. I would like to know why you have 2 different pitchshifter/harmony pedals there.. Also, how do you run that bass wah? I could never get it to sound good for me..
  3. Ahh, I've heard of Bubble Chamber before. Crazy weird stuff. I'd love to know what he's doing with the M9 though..
  4. It's released! http://www.moogmusic...4m-analog-delay 700$ suggested retail. It'll probably be a few hundred less in stores.
  5.
Already up for sale Nah - need to twiddle all the knob still
Ah, I'm sorry I missed it. Apparently the Xotic BB does the same sound though, so..
  6. Analog with tap tempo? I'm in.
  7.
Not finished yet - but this I going to be the 'protect my jack sockets and power supply from beer' screen...
Looks good! You gonna end up selling the Bass Drive?
  8. Sansamp is more overdrive than fuzz. The Rat should work well, as well as the Grey Stache from Fuzzrocious.
  9.
John Myung? Ryan Martinie? Arif Mirabdolbaghi? Evan Brewer? Alex Webster? Metal has some insane talent! Arif and Ryan being the main two who's style stand out to me, should check them out if you haven't already, some brilliant basslines...
Myung is decent.. haven't heard of the others. Can't stand the keyboards in early Dream Theater though.. ..sorry if I'm ignorant, but from what I've heard, most mainstream/semi mainstream metal has pretty simple bass.
  10. -that guy in Korn -that guy in Avenged Sevefold -that guy in the Deftones (can't even hear him half the time) TL;DR pretty much every metal bassist besides the 2 from Tool..
  11. Les Claypool / Primus Paul D'Amour / Tool [Opiate/Undertow] Geezer Butler / Black Sabbath Chris Wolstenholme / Muse Paul McCartney / Beatles Justin Chancellor / Tool [Everything after Undertow] Flea / Red Hot Chili Peppers John Davis / Nerve George Porter Jr. / Funky Meters Shep / Our Helical Mind
  12. For triggering loops, I think any sort of Midi-pad sort of thing would work. Such as: http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-FCB1010-Controller-Expression-Pedals/dp/B000CZ0RK6 I'm not any good with synth bass, but I know of a few builders. Robot Factory: http://martoneaudio.com/ WMD: http://www.wmdevices.com/ Iron Ether: http://ironether.com/ There are a few certain pedals I know of as well such as the Akai Deep Impact and the EHX Bass Micro Synth. Other than that, you'll have to ask Shep!

    Bugcrusher Micro
The Bugcrusher isn't a bitcrusher, it's a sample rate reducer. The two do sound very different. The Frantabit does both though so hopefully it should fit the bill for you. I bought a Bugcrusher Micro on here about two years ago and it's the only one I've ever seen for sale used. To be honest it does have its issues - if there is any supersonic noise in your signal it can create noise into the audible spectrum when it gets resampled, I wish mine had a low-pass filter on the input really, but it sounds excellent enough to be forgiven.
Feeling like selling anytime soon? Nice find though, those things don't pop up anywhere..
  14. So no monster cables.. aw, my local music shop will probably have them. Thanks anyway guys. And I'll be sure to check the cable to make sure it's a speaker cable..
  15.
Don't get sold Monster cable.
Bad quality?
  16.
I hope this doesn't come as sarcastic but you should use speaker cable, not instrument cable.
Not sarcastic! I'm glad you told me, because I was gonna try instrument cable..
Basically, if you unscrew the jack and see two equal cables in different colored sleeves, thats a speaker cable, if its a middle one in a sleeve and a bunched up one that spreads to surround the one going into the cable proper, that's an instrument one.
I can't seem to get to the actual wires because of the covering under the jack, but thanks anyway.
OBBM made mine up for me, they're around 1cm thick and comes with heavy duty Neutrik Jacks. You can also get them made up with Speakons depending on your requirements.
Is it possible to just buy premade speaker cables without having to get customs? I'll do a quick search.. EDIT: What are the specifics exactly for the cables? I'm guessing it's a 1/4 inch for the amplifier side, but what about the side that goes into the cab? and would something like this work? http://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster-Cable-Performer-500-Speaker-Cable-1-4--102584653-i1128650.gc
  17. Sorry, newbie question: what kind of cable do I use to hook up an amplifier head to a speaker cabinet?
  18. Justin Chancellor's settings, if you're into Tool.
  19. Tube overdrive pedal, with an actual 12AX7 if possible!
Hmm... A distortion pedal with clean blend and a filter to target the upper and lower frequency ranges of the effected signal. Although this may be a stupid idea.
I like this idea. So then we could have distorted highs and non-muddy lows.

    Big Muff mods
Hello I have had a search, but not found an answer to question. Does anybody have the instructions on turning a big muff usa into a big muff for bass? Or, what mod can I make to stop my sound getting lost in the mix at gig volume? Cheers
Add mids, they help a lot with muddiness. Big Muffs are notoriously mid-scooped.
  21.
Line 6 X2 XDS95 Digital Wireless Instrument System.
Coulda sworn it was a very simple comp or something.. but thanks!
  22.
latest move around
I think this is my new favorite board on here! What's the box on the top right?
  23. The distortion on the Boss pedal sounds pretty good, actually. I haven't played with it in awhile though because the knobs don't do anything for some reason..
  24. For those interested, I emailed IE about the custom Xerograph: He said it would take 8 weeks to build and it would cost $495.
  25. I swear at my bass! On a more serious note (no pun intended) my favorite basses have been Squiers. Not too expensive, but once in awhile you find a really sharp sounding one, and if it's set up and stays set up you know it's a good one.
