1. Thanks for that advice re keywords.
If it was mine (note this is something I don't advise anyone else to do - for my own protection ) it would start at 99p, no reserve. It would find its level.
mmm ... I think I'll pass on that ... if there are no willing collector type buyers out there when I list, somebody will get it for £20 or something silly. Would work for things that are being sold all the time (pedals, strings, 3-10 yr old fenders etc). Andy

If I was uncharitable I might conclude that the whole thing has been set up by the competitor to try and defame paypal.
LINK TO MORE INFO Nothing is ever black and white, is it ?

I know the charges are a pain. Seems most of the issues that site raises, though, are about what happens when you're a seller who accepts payment by paypal ... and then there's an ebay dispute. Have you ever experienced these problems ? Slightly worrying is the link at the bottom of each forum entry "CLICK HERE FOR OUR PAYPAL ALTERNATIVE" which links to a paypal competitor. If I was uncharitable I might conclude that the whole thing has been set up by the competitor to try and defame paypal. Will look into it some more. Andy
If you haven't already been, go to http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/forum/index.php
Thanks, I'll check it out.
One point, it looks like the strap buttons aren't original - they should be "V" shaped - the sort of thing that a collector would certainly be looking for.
The strap pegs are 100% definite original. I bought it from new and modified nothing (except for getting a setup/fret-stoning done soon after I bought it). Have catalog gifs (and probably an original catalog somewhere) too ... there's nothing changed.
The last PF100 I saw went for £260 - August 08.
That's a higher price than I remember seeing ... thank you, my attention must have slipped.
 7.
What are looking to sell?
Ibanez Performer PF100 Guitar. '78. Very good nick, because it's hardly been played. 1 owner from new. I had been told it's collectable, with a potential value of 350-450. But based on the very few listings I've seen (UK and US), and the money I've wasted in eBay fees listing it with reserve set accordingly ... I doubt that's true.
 8. I've got an instrument to sell on eBay (guitar as it happens, not bass) ... is this a good time of year to sell ? Have a feeling it might not be because everyone has spent loads at Xmas ... not to mention the recession / credit crunch. Instincts tell me not to sell right now, but this this has been taking up space in my flat for too long (and it doesn't get used) so I'm in a dilemma. Andy
 9.
Yes it's the same bass.
Tch .... that ... plus your updated sig ... means I know I can't afford it. Too bad. :/ Andy
 10. Happy New Year to you Chris Is this the same DB you had at home when I came round to try out your NS EUB (I think that was 18 months ago) ? I know I should remember with the Lion scroll, but have to confess at that time I didn't ever think I'd go for a full size (ok, 3/4) upright, so I obviously wasn't paying enough attention. Andy
Volume, pickup selector and tone pot with another nob on top which if you pull it up give a fantastic slap sound with its own control. The pre-amp and pickups are standard from overwater, I'm unsure of the brand mabye fellow basschatters can help me out there!
Not an overwater owner myself, but the overwater site says "with a choice of active electronics from Audere Audio or E Pro ‘J Retro' ." You need an overwater guru (or preamp guru) to tell you more ... Both of those preamps have stacked controls. And neither company offers just one option. 15. Awesome looking bass in awesome condition. But not something I need. Want, yes, need, no. Best of luck with the sale.
 16.
Hi there, do you have any photos of the bass? No doubt at this crazy price it'l be gone in a matter of minutes.. but nevertheless, if Im in time, I may be very interested in taking this. Will be in touch. Cheers! Matt
I think you'll find photos here and here.
 17. Thanks all, I think I'm getting the picture now. Any clues as to where in london I might be able to try out a few squier precisions, probably standard or VM, side-by-side ?
 18.
Noticed an earlier discussion on strings, and you said you'd be using standard strings I think. Does that mean you're going for a standard short-scale bass speaking length of 30 inches ? I ask because I have experienced string breakage from winding 34 inch scale strings onto the tuners of a 30.5 scale bass. The fat bit does not like going round the tuner, certainly on flatwounds. One solution to this of course, if you're going shorter than 30 inches, is to accommodate the extra string length somehow at the other end, e.g. through-body stringing.
Oops ... just noticed your very first post does in fact say 28.5 inches ... I guess you will be winding away that extra string length somewhere ... and somebody (you or the purchaser) will need to consider custom cases for flying. ... You can't guarantee to carry-on an instrument these days.
 19. Can anyone give me a rough guide to getting the best deal, in terms of quality, out of a Squier bass ? I've seen postings saying that VM and Classic Vibe ranges are better than older Squiers (Affinity's ? Standards ?) which kind of suggests they're coming from a different factory ... but to be honest I have no idea ... these ranges may be pure marketing terms for all I know. If I want a decent quality cheap precision, which Squier range should I be looking at ? Or if the range is not key to quality, then can anyone give me any clues as to which basses might be worth a look. Also, any clues as to where to find Squiers in London would be useful ... on a visit to Denmark street yesterday I didn't spot that many ... certainly not the classic vibe precision (split pickup one) which seems worth a look. Cheers, Andy
 20. I'm very interested in this. My travel requirements come from two directions. (1) I regularly (twice a year, sometimes for 2 weeks) find myself abroad in the same place without a bass. Not good. (2) About every a couple of years a friend organises a small festival abroad. Since I'm not always in a formal band, just jamming, I have to weigh up a whole bunch of stuff (like how much use I will get from it / value of the bass / risk of damage in transit / travel by rail or by air) to decide which bass to take. I've also done the odd gig abroad with my current band. So far I've come up with a solution to (2) (cheap squier 5 string / SKB bass safe / total investment 125 quid) but not (1). The solution to (1) at the moment seems to be purchase of a very cheap fender (4-string) clone to permanently leave abroad as a practice (not gigging) bass. So if you want to entrust a bass to me for a couple of weeks, I can promise to tell you how well it 'flies' . Have you considered a hard case for flying in your plans ? (One of the reasons I've gone for fenderish basses is the ready availability of 'lite-flite' cases and the like). If you're producing a short scale bass presumably you'll need a custom case ? Noticed an earlier discussion on strings, and you said you'd be using standard strings I think. Does that mean you're going for a standard short-scale bass speaking length of 30 inches ? I ask because I have experienced string breakage from winding 34 inch scale strings onto the tuners of a 30.5 scale bass. The fat bit does not like going round the tuner, certainly on flatwounds. One solution to this of course, if you're going shorter than 30 inches, is to accommodate the extra string length somehow at the other end, e.g. through-body stringing. Very interested to see what you come up with. Andy

 22. 240 euros (240 pounds at current exchange rate)
 23. This is almost identical to the bass I´ve been offered (the only real difference is condition). Is that what you meant by a p-bass clone ? I think it´s probably from the 70´s.
