One of them Optional Illusions I guess. If you select 'black' in Photoshop's pallette, what you actually get is C=91, M=79, Y=62, K=97 which is often called 'Rich Black' or sometimes 'Printers Black'. Illustrator just gives you K=100 as black which can cause appearance issues if there are large areas of it. The same thing happens with paint, but people look at you funny when you tell them that there are shades of black. Another issue I've had to deal with is 'Black Ink Coverage'. That's something that seems to be an issue with 4-colour printing & your print company ought to tell you their maximum BIC % upfront so's you can adjust it out of your artwork. P.

Check the label of the thinners & steer clear of it if it contains xylene. It'll work, but is heinous stuff & can make the O rings in your gun swell up. 'Proper' cellulose thinners are usually based around acetone & toluene.

Have a hunt in your local car spares shop for 'Knifing Stopper'. A few thin coats of that followed up by some wet sanding ought to level everything out. Another good filler is 'Miliput' - either a model/hobby shop or Ebay. I've yet to find something it won't stick to, & it flats out beautifully. It can also be worked & smoothed with a wet spatula/putty knife before it starts curing which saves a bit of sanding. Sets rock hard in about 4 hours. Pete.

Did you have any trouble hearing yourself? I've had my left hand lock up once on a sit-in due to that. For some inexplicable reason instinct told me that pressing the strings [i]really[/i] hard would make them louder... had a forearm like an iron bar for half an hour afterwards.

All of a sudden it was OK to write your own stuff & sing in a regional accent; the Stones did the same a little later. Hendix did the same for guitar. Before him there wasn't much going on besides Bery Weedon's 'Play In A Day' and Hank Marvin:— Clapton, Townshend & Green were getting there, but Hendrix blew the bloody door off. P.

Also, you didn't indicate [i]where[/i] in London... big place, some bits easier for me to get to than others. Got a link to anything recorded - even a rehearsal rough? That's a better way of judging. As to the weight, a lot of it rests in the hardware; If you take off the pickups & that mahoosive die-cast bridge it knocks a significant amount off. Another factor is that gorgeous cut of Ash that makes up the body; my SB-900 has a boring grain but the growth rings are almost ruler straight and only a couple of mm apart - slow grown timber usually has a higher density - same goes for the maple in the neck. Quality with a capital Q.

Front page is still bit borked for me - no titles so I can't get access to any sub-forums, have a screengrab: Firefox 16.0.2. Cleared the cache, flushed DNS, updated Quicktime & ran CCleaner... nada. Same result viewed in IE8. View new posts works fine though. P.
