Checking out their configurator earlier and I noticed they now offer 'fumed oak' as a fingerboard material. Has anybody ever seen one of these in the flesh?

Only had the B3 and B1on but struggled for enough volume with both on maximum!

'The right pair of headphones' is the sticking point. Mine are harder to drive than some (Beyer DT770 Pro 80ohm version) but I love the way they sound and the Bighead drives them much better than any other headphone out I've found on an amp head or preamp pedal.

I rate the Spectracomp very highly, and as long as I could find a light drive to my tastes, the cab sim sounds decent (not overly dark or coloured) and the headphone amp is as loud and clear as my Bighead, I could see myself acquiring one of these down the line too.

Couldn't be more different to mine! Can't believe you boost the treble, I cut mine quite a bit and my strings are dead and I have no tweeters! One tip is turn chunk off whilst you set your compressor level so you can better hear what it's doing. Also remember the gain boost hits the compressor harder too. I find the mid band to have a very wide Q, so much so that if you cut the mids below 9 o'clock, you've got hardly any sound left at all!

12 bar being the lowest common denominator? These two seem to get some good mileage out of playing just one chord! My local jam does this from time to time, it’s a great way to strip everything back to basics, stop worrying about changes and just concentrate on phrasing and responding to what others are playing.

So I found a setting that works for me with my BB1025X. Reduce the treble, bump up the mids (shift switch out) and bass, compression just below noon, gain around 3 o’clock with the gain switch off (clean/bass channel clips otherwise). Sounds great in the mix in a heavy rock setting. Play lightly and all you can hear is clean bass, dig in and it can get very grindy indeed. One thing that felt odd was playing high up on the D & G strings with a decent amount of compression and hearing a low end thump as if an octaver was switched on! With this setting, turn off the mix to get a clean tone and it sounds terrible as the EQ settings were tweaked for the other channel. So I would’ve preferred this switch did something else or wasn’t there to make the pedal smaller!

You could switch between them, but you wouldn't be able to mix them!

Mine's here, cheers Tony the Tiger. It's grrreat! Just gave it a quick blast through headphones. Main out is noticeable brighter than the XLR, thankfully a XLR to jack cable in conjunction with the ground lift button means I can use the XLR into my headphone amp. Yes it has a headphone amp on board, but this is the same brighter sound as the main jack plus there's no aux in and I don't knoiw where my mini-to-big jack adaptor is! I will reserve judgement until I've put it through its paces! Oh and if anyone wants to sell me a BDDI v2 give me a shout as I'd love to compare them!

I don't know, I just twiddle the knobs until it sounds the bestest. I tried all the Toneprints and preferred the stock setting. I think they dialed they one in just right!

Try a compressor. Can't recommend the TC Spectracomp highly enough, a bargain of a pedal. With a suitably long attack time, the compressor lets the note attack through untouched, then clamps down on the volume. The overall volume is then boosted to compensate for this. End result is the attack of each note really pops, yet your overall dynamic range is smooth and controlled.

Sounds good to me! @Cuzzie would say otherwise and that it sounds like a Bontempi organ though!

Got an Octamizer a little while ago... I really like the tilt EQ control on the clean channel, I wasn't expecting it to be as useful as it is. If you have your octaver early in the chain, adding the extra subs can end up feeding too much signal into dirt pedals, driving them pretty hard. By rolling off a bit of low end from your dry signal, you ease up on the amount of bass going into the rest of the chain which makes things sound much clearer and tighter as a result.

Hopefully he is too busy licking stamps to affix to DP3X boxes to read this!

And you will need it for now as the pitch shift is not as good as the Tender! However there was heavy hinting on a TB thread that Line6 have hired people that worked on the POG algorithms so a decent polyphonic octaver should be in the pipeline!

The Teemah is comparable to the Rumble. I couldn't get a muff sound that responded well with my bass from the new selection but the legacy one worked much better for me. Don't be afraid to dig into the older effects thinking that all the new ones must be better - you need to dig into the legacy selection to get a decent octaver for one!

Depends what kind of drive you're after, but the B7K sim is pretty much bang on and the Teemah (Timmy) has decent low end and sounds very nice also, either for a woolly vintage Motown type tone or something more aggressive.

You might be pleasantly surprised by the drives in the HX and not necessarily need an outboard one. Most of them are guitar oriented, but since you have the ability to clean blend or even split the signal with crossover, you can work around those issues.
