1. I saw these posted at Talkbass ages ago but IKEA didn't stock them in the UK. Now they do, and they are only £3: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50058512 http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50058507 Paint it and stick velcro on it and you have yourself a dirt cheap Pedalrtain alternative! The one from the original TB thread had been modified to look like this:
2. Sorry guys, but as I don't have a box to post it and it doesn't come with a hard case I'm only offering collection at the moment. If it doesn't shift in a couple of weeks time I may look into postage then! I also have a tort scratchplate that might fit this (haven't checked yet!) that would go with it nicely. I'll be listing that up separately when I get time...

4. Although they are waterproof, there is a hole in the top (or should be) for the handle, so a bit of water could still get in if it's a toerrential downpour. I have a black one with red piping which came with my 121P when I bought it second hand... I'm thinking of replacing it with a nicer looking black & yellow one though!
5. Not too sure on the differences between PUPs... The Wizard Thumper is supposedly loud, 'earthy' and 'dark', the Seymour Duncan 1/4lb is loud, more bass and treble and good for hard rock, the Fender will probably be a replica of the classic designs. I think Fender use 250k pots but you can use 500k for a brighter sound and some pickup manufacturers recommend one or the other. Oh and the 'Cosmos Black' is more of a dark smoky chrome than black if it makes any difference!
6. The Tascam and Pandora are both good, you can save mp3s on the Tascam, slow them down and filter out the bass, and it also has some basic fx. The Pandora has a line in for an iPod (set the iPod EQ To 'bass reducer' if playing along with it!) you can also record 30sec loops and slow down / transpose etc, plus it's a full fledged multi fx unit with great sounds in it. And you can thread your bass strap through the clip! For a cheaper no frills unit checkout the EA Earwig from the US. Personally, I use a DI Box and iPod into a Behringer Micromon with great results, I've also just got a Pandora PX4D for dirt cheap for use outside of the bedroom, but haven't gotten around to learning how to use it properly yet!
7. The pocket on my MIA Fender has a noticeable gap, yet my Squier VM is tighter than a very tight thing!
8. I've got a Gotoh 201 in Cosmo Black I was about to list if you want it (although chrome or gold might be a better bet for that bass) also a tort scratchplate (although not sure if it'll for the SX, it's off a Fender). Replacing the nut is easy enough to do, and may give you better tone on the open strings and make tuning smoother and easier. If the pots are cheap you may find that they go scratchy pretty quickly, so you will probably want to upgrade those down the line. While you're under there you could also solder in a new pickup like a Wizard Thumper or something!
9. Pedaltrain Jr / Mini etc is worth the cost I reckon. I got a Pedaltrain Jr with carry bag for £70 brand new (although they've gone up now), which is cheaper than most of my pedals. It's really light aluminium, and the design makes it really easy to route power and patch cables around. The Spider Engineering ones are great value - they are built like a tank, but they are just a flightcase with a plain old piece of plywood knocking about inside for your board. Worth getting if you don't mind the weight and need the extra protection they offer. +1 on the Johnnyshreadfreak power supplies though, best bang for buck going. No noise from my setup, and plenty of power to run most people's boards.

11. Big ears. Like these ones: Search for half width rack ears and some should turn up. If your gear isn't exactly half width then you may have to get custom ones, or you may be able to get them from the amp manufacturer. Best to send them an email and see what they recommend!
12. Do it. Red basses look rubbish with anything other than a black scratchplate IMHO!

Pedal Buzz

What are the pedals? Some have a positive ground instead of negative, and they can't share the same power supply. You can get around this by using a power supply with isolated outputs (e.g. Voodoo Lab Pedal Power, BBE Supa charger, T-Rex Fuel Tank) or an isolation adaptor (e.g. Diago Isolation Adaptor, Gigrig Virtual Battery) on the daisy chain for the pedal that has the positive ground.

SOLD

I would have had this off you if it weren't for the fact I'm buying Alan's butterscotch blonde MIA this afternoon! Good luck with the sale, looks like a good 'un, with tasty upgrades.
18.
okay definately the last bump for this then its going on ebay on saturday. i've also got a jack casady for sale and an 80's trace elliot head for sale but cant be bothered to set up threads lol nevermind!
There's a couple of people looking for Jack Casadys in the wanted section if you still have it for sale!
19. If you're lugging gear around on public transport, it can be done with the right gear. I've done it with a bass in a gig bag over one shoulder, Pedaltrain Jr/Mini in a soft case over the other, and a Markbass CMD121P amp on a little folding trolley. But a car is certainly the way to go if you're gigging / practicing a lot! Which part of London have you landed in?
20. Also, update your profile so that it shows your location. Aria make jazz and precision style STB's, they are decent cheap basses, but don't usually have as good a resale value as a Squier for example. There's usually a few on eBay so you can guage a price, then try asking on here or the gumtree and sell on eBay as a last resort because they fleece you! Oh, and nice bass Clarky!
21. Quite unusual, anyone seen one before? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gibson-Epiphone-Bass...id=p3286.c0.m14
22. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-1963-Precison...id=p3286.c0.m14 'No shrinkage' but it's so warped you could fit your hand down the side!
23. I've just got myself a nice Fender MIA Precision now, so am moving this on. I think the MIA plays nicer but this VM still sounds better - maybe due to the Duncan designed pickup which has a nice throaty roar. It's in very good condition, no dings anywhere apart from a couple of light scratches on the back which I can take pics of later. She is strung up with DR Black Beauties and is nicely set up. I will also chuck in a Fender gig bag. Pickup only, or can meet within reasonable distances (I live in Streatham, SW London). No pics just yet but it's the white Sid Vicious style one like this: http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0326800505 Like the Classic Vibe series, the Vintage Modifieds are a cut above the regular Squiers and some say on a par with MIM Fenders. [s]£170 £160 £150[/s] SOLD!
24. Yup, Virtual Dub can split the files without re-encoding the mwhich reduces quality, Windows Movie Maker can only do it by re-encoding them which is a bit pants.
