1.
Hardwire Supernatural
I've always wanted to try one of these effects and not heard of this one so will check it out! But here's what I gathered: Mooer - cheap but not that great Line6 Verbzilla - the original? Octo mode is where it's at Behringer RV600 - Verbzilla clone; from a Youtube demo it seemed that most of the sounds were inferior to the Line6 except the Octo/shimmer which sounded better! Strymon Bluesky - the king but expensive Also the Line6 M5/M9/M13 has the same effect. The M5 only costs a bit more than a Verbzilla plus does so much more so might be the best bet.
2. If you don't get a suitable offer you could always try taking a Kala U-Bass on the plane as hand luggage!
3. Spotted this Super P5 on the Bass Gallery website: http://www.thebassga...e=Bass%20Guitar Don't like the look of it much myself, weird orange tort on the plate, the black knobs don't go, and the body looks out of proportion?
4. How about a Sandberg California VS (single pickup), VM (P + MM) or VT (P + J)? They do 5-string Ps in both 34" and 35", you can configure one here: http://www.configura...erg-guitars.de/ Here's one I made earlier:
5. Yet again lending weight to the phrase "there's no money past the 7th fret"!
6. Gobsmacked it went for that much. It doesn't seem to have the truss rod adjustment at the headstock like most Squiers I've seen though, but maybe the older ones had it down by the body (I know the JV's did).
7. The problem is most definitely noticeable in a mono rig, moreso than stereo! If left and right channels are out of phase with each other and coming out of separate speakers at least it will sound ok in some parts of the room, but if you only have one channel, and you mix two out of phase signals together they cancel each other out before they even get to the speaker. I think the EHX LPB-1 should do the trick and is pretty cheap. A guitarist friend of mine suffered the same issue running this pedal through the FX loop of his amp which was blended in parallel, so it must be a phase flipper.
8. If you're heading to Bass Direct, check out the new G&L M series:
9. Swaping the wires around won't work. Only easy way to fix it is to put another pedal in the loop that also flips the phase - most simple single-transistor boost/buffer circuits do so, so if you happen to have one of those lying around, stick it before or after the Mesa.
10. Get a Zoom H1 or used Zoom H2! http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h1/ http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h2/ £70 for the H1. The H2 is older and can do surround recording - you could pick one up cheap used but the H1 is the best deal around at the moment I think! http://www.studiospares.com/zoom-h1-silver-portable-recorder/invt/361325
11. The cheap Digitech multi-fx have the whammy effects in them but not sure if they have that specific mode. Anyone tried them?
12. Ozzy Osbourne's is hilarious too if you haven't read it!
13. A power soak is used when you want to drive an amp with power tubes (i.e. not your amp) into distortion but at sensible volumes. Use the gain and master volumes and if it's still too loud turn down the volume of your bass!
14. Gareth just bought a Precision from me, very good with communication and paid up promptly! Cheers, hope you get on with it!
15. Ortega D-Walker, 24.4" scale! http://ortegaguitars.com/en/products/acoustic-basses/acoustic-bass/show/Product/d-walker-bk/d-walker-bk/
16. Road worns have RW stamped into the body under the scratchplate, and have very similar wear patterns to each other. The serial begins with MZ also (at least it did on mine).
17. I don't know if it will work on your knackered cables, but if you twist the cable as you loop it you can get it to stay in a neat circle.
18. Yup, always been MIM as far as I'm aware. There is an American Vintage line that is very similar in specs, colours, with the same nitro finish but without the relicing (unless it's been done afterwards like this one).
19. I was about to get rid of my Small Stone until I tried it in my Xotic X-Blender, now it's a keeper! Just on the lookout for a smaller blend pedal now.
20. You're not just in, you're the new chairman.
21. Is the blend pedal a homemade job? Can you post a picture of the insides?
22. All working fine for me now, popups included. Check your junk mail folders, especially if you use Gmail!
