2. I'd say the Squier punches well above it's weight and you probably won't notice too much difference between it and the Fender. Biggest difference will be the maple board.
3. I am considering it! I've no idea how to tell what they are though - I guess I could desolder them and measure their resistance but there are no identifying marks apart from N and B on the neck and bridge pickups respectively.
4. I say do it! When you have the right bridge pickup it can sound great, I play my BB with both pickups on most of the time. I think you need a fairly hot Jazz pickup to match the output of the P though.
5.
Thanks for this! Waded through this for breakfast. Not sure what was lumpier, the porridge or the conversation. To conclude, MIM Jazz, 70s style Seymours, Badass, dead 45-105 rotos. Basslines bass? Flats Squier Classic vibe, flats Cheap, cheerful. No hint on amplification or recording techniques, although I'm pretty certain in recent live vids it looks like he's using a certain 2 112 rig of an alphabetically premium New York manufacturing location.
Also - TI flats on the cheapo bass with the Music Man pickup, and suspension bridge cable Jamerson La Bella flats on the P. A fact I was most pleased to learn as I have a cheapo bass with a Music Man pickup arriving tomorrow and already have a spare set of unopened TI's!
6. Always wanted to try one, sounds like it had the best ethereal sounding modulated reverb and shimmer effect going. Tip - get the stereo version and you can download a different preset into left and right channels then get two pedals in one by just plugging into a different set of input/output jacks. Only thing that comes close (well, when I was seriously looking at these about a year ago at least) is the Strymon Bluesky.
7.
You may want to listen to THIS . Interview with the bassist, focussing on gear.
Thanks, listening now - painful to listen to though, both of them are speaking really slowly and pausing every couple of words. I'll have what they're smoking!
8. Price drop to £120, or £135 posted!
9. Cracking bass, go for it. You might want to try an example of their Classic Vibe range beforehand though - they cost a little bit more but there are plenty of used examples around the £220 mark. The VM has a more aggressive sound, whilst the CV sounds slightly warmer, has arguably higher build quality, and a rosewood board with smaller vintage style frets (which I prefer the feel of personally but you may feel different).
10. Strung em through the body on my P Bass, survived the last 3 years just fine! They're a bit more flexible than most flats so less prone to breaking with the sharp angle.
11. The best bridge design I've seen is that of the new Yamaha BB - string through but angled to reduce the sharp break angle of the string, plus the string sits on a sharp fulcrum point to give it a more precise anchor point. But hey, this is a pickup thread!
12. I'd pop into Northampton (they have a PMT I think, not sure about any other shops) and try out as many as you can!
13. As has the Delano Xtender: http://goo.gl/LA9tiZ
14. Is that a rosewood board? Looks dark enough to be ebony!
15. The cheap pedaltrain option! (although perhaps a bit too big for 3 pedals) http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10213713/
16. The RH750 solves the problem with the top end btw for anyone that didn't know!
17. Ssh, those are banned! Sorry, not interested in one of those. The intention was to have a clear out and I've ended up acquiring a bass after buying Hamfist's Westone last night! I've had some overseas interest and this may very well be sold - just waiting for a response to a shipping quote.
18. I don't know anything about copyright issues, but Soundcloud sounds perfect for that. When you have something properly recorded, give Bandcamp a whirl - I've bought loads of music from small bands on there!
19.
Keep playing it.

Sadly real life is getting in the way
Send it on a basschat tour, we'll all gig the hell out if it for you and return it once we've knackered it!
20.
Nope its more about ohms and driver efficiency. Putting in a higher wattage speaker may in fact make it quieter as your amp could be (and probably is) too weedy to drive it fully. If your existing speaker is 8ohms then replacing it with a similarish 4ohm one should get you a bit more oomph. But at the end of the day a 30w amp is pretty much a 30w amp.
Hmm, I think you may risk frying something if you switch the speaker to 4ohms when it designed to run only with 8ohms?
21. ... and if it's gone I have a brand new never fitted one that's going to be listed on here soon! I want a bit more than £40 though! ;-)
22. Now being parted out here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227740-parting-out-a-squier-jazz-neck-body-tuners-controls-bridge
23. My trusty old BB415, up for sale as I've upgraded to the more fancy BB1025X. I've gigged this quite a bit, but it's still in good condition with a couple of light scratches here and there. Great P like tone, and massive growling rock tone with both pickups engaged. Only 42mm at the nut like a 4-string P - great if like me you find Fender 5'ers too much of a handful. Lovely black sparkle paint job, much nicer than the plain gloss black on the new range IMHO. It has a pair of chrome domed knobs on it right now, but the original black plastic speed knobs will be supplied also. Local pickup preferred though (St Neots area), although I can deliver anywhere in the UK for an extra £15.
24. Peavey T40 in natural, born in 1979, wearing a set of toaster pickups! All original except for replacement pickguard - original one is warped but will be supplied also. Good condition for age, a few small dings here and there and a larger one on the top of the neck by the first fret which you should hopefully be able to see in the pictures. Now sold!
