A simple single coil pickup, that attaches to the end of the fingerboard with strong velcro (two extra bits included). Not as strong or dark a sound as a Kent Armstrong, but very clear and faithful sound. There is a jack socket built into the assembly, as well as a phono socket to accept another input (intended for a clicker under the fingerboard). The various thumb screws allow you to get a good string/pickup coil alignment and string balance. Also included is a brass bracket made to attach the pickup to the end of the fingerboard more permanently using small screws. I found the velcro works fine, but it can be fiddly to get it to lock into place. Works well with any strings with a significant metal core or windings (Spirocores, Helicores or Innovation Honey) but won't work if there is no or little metal content in the strings. **NOW TRADED**[attachment=190237:IMG_1219.jpg][attachment=190239:IMG_1223.jpg Fantastic bass - very light, with a wonderful acoustic character to the sound. Has a walnut back and sides, solid centre block and cedar (or maybe spruce?) top. DTAR undersaddle pickup and 18v preamp with passive tone roll off and volume. Rosewood fingerboard with inlaid fret markers and currently strung with Thomastik flats. The maple bolt on neck is carved very slim, much like a Jazz bass. Has a definite neck dive from the hollow body but this is made a lot easier by the strap holder extension, combined with the overall weight and the relatively wide body size. I'm quite fussy about balance and it has never bothered me. Has one issue, otherwise I would be asking a bit more. About a year after getting the bass I noticed a small hump/crack towards the top of the fingerboard - this went down when I took some tension off the truss rod and has remained the same for the last two years or so. There is a crack in one dot position marker and you can just see where the wood cracked (this bass has a very thin laminate type fingerboard). I was going to get it looked at and tidied up by a luthier, but never got around to it. I may still get it looked at and set up with some different strings, but that will increase the price. I have two blank bridge saddles (carbon fibre) from Rick Turner so that different strings can be set up. Comes in the Levy's bag shown - its a bit bigger than most so fits the bass well. Collection only from Bristol/Bath area...any questions..ask away..

Real shame - I would buy a TC, but I've read too many breakdown stories about them. Amps need to be reliable.

EMG's (any flavour except passive) or DiMarzio Model J.

SOLD******Had this listed in "other musical" for a while, so thought it would also be worth listing here, as it is really a studio quality preamp. Seems to rank as the industry standard active DI for (posh) stage or studio. Could also be used as the front end of a high end amp system, as most of the passive eq presets are useful for bass instruments. As new condition with all original packaging - could be posted, but I much prefer cash/collection from the Bristol /Bath area - please PM any questions [attachment=189177:IMG_1135.jpg]

It wouldn't bother me...string height is dependant on many things, particularly the type /make/tension of the strings. Its a good idea to have a new bridge fitted with adjusters anyway, as this makes string experiments a lot easier, and its good to know the bridge has been properly matched to the top. I'm in the process of upgrading from my hybrid Zeller and to be honest, they sound very very good for what they cost. And they travel well.

Taking all strings off and keeping sound post in place
BassBod replied to ikay's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Keep the bass on its back and put some weight over the soundpost area, usually works but it all depends how tight a fit it is..and the weather.. -

Eden WT300B Traveller amp - volume fade and crackling
BassBod replied to Paul S's topic in Amps and Cabs
No idea - but try changing the valve as a first step, or at least check it isn't loose after transit. -
