1. Hellzero - really not keen on shipping, had plenty of hassle with couriers breaking things. I'll wait a few more days and see if there is any local interest. The last small amp I sent to Europe was something like £35, but that was a few years ago, it's probably a bit more now.
2. With mine I've found the clip led comes on very early, with no real input clipping that I can hear. So I think you can run the input pretty hot without problems...which makes it plenty powerful enough. If I ever get around to sending mine in for a new fan, I'll also get it checked out and see if it can be set to have a higher input threshold.
3. New photo to give a better impression of size - for SWR this really was portable! Bump for a wet Monday..
4. I take great pleasure in sounding like a Dad. Buy the bass that you like the most, as long as it doesn't ruin your finances. If you are a collector/investor then the older and most original wins, but probably not if you are a working musician. One of life's nicer dilemmas 😜
5. I still use SWR stuff a lot, but cash is tight and I've also got this amp in combo form, so makes sense to move it on. This is the original early 90's version of SWR's studio amp, the Baby Blue combo, but in amp head only format and sold as the Electric Blue. The amp is built into its own small wooden /carpet case, with a detachable lid on the front. Output is rated as 150w into 4ohms (min) or something like 120w into 8ohms. No noisy fan, XLR DI output with pre/post and ground lift. You could also use it as a high quality valve preamp/ DI box (one 12AX7/ECC83) as the speakers don't have to be connected. Three band EQ with variable cut/boost and frequency selection and the SWR Aural Enhancer circuit, should you choose to use it. Also has a nifty EQ defeat switch on the Enhance pot, so you can compare your EQ settings quickly. The amp is in excellent condition, although the case looks a bit worn. Everything working as it should - think I've got the original user manual somewhere as well. Collection from Bristol /Bath area strongly preferred..its a lovely little amp, would be a shame to risk a courier chucking it about. Happy to answer any questions
6.
I think it might be the one I've got now. It's got a repair to one edge. It sounds superb with an Acoustic Image amp, folks are amazed at the sound and volume coming from such a tiny package. I've also got a ply version which sounds a little brighter.
Yes, that sounds like the same cab - quick repair with epoxy resin glue, but didn't try to disguise it as it would have taken longer to build up a layer and blend it in. Would buy the blue one if I had the cash, but too lazy to sell other things on 😳
7. I had a composite version - seemed a bit fragile, but was fantastically light. Always sounded great, with real depth.
8. Brave people....that must be an expensive space to rent. Best of luck!
9. Lovely job....tempted but poor...
10. Great stuff, just hang on until something "tidy" comes up for sale. If it looks knackered then it probably hasn't had an easy life. My favourites are the Mk IV GP11 but a lot have been trashed over the years. An AH150 with modern lighter cabs is a great all rounder.
11. I'm sure there are pedals too...I think he still uses a small Alembic preamp (very clean) to eq and split pickups, and the Ampegs are used as power amps. There was a mic on the JC combo, so I think a lot of that goes to the PA, certainly sounded that way.
12. Brizzle was great....always surprised how "driven" his bass guitar sound is, he clearly loves the guitar amp part of his live set up (Roland JC this time).
13. Compare his price to UK retail on any Fender Custom Shop model. Relic might not be for everyone, but two of my regular basses are part Bravewoods, and they are the best parts!
14. Just needs a bit more paint to flake off in wear spots. It will, once it starts gigging.
15. Vegan leather, of course...
16. Yes, also interested to know if posting is an option (Bristol)....
17. Yes, the passive output is down a bit, so a gain increase at the preamp (assuming your amp has one) compensates perfectly well...I just notice it compared to my other passive basses. Most of the time I use a Sansamp or Sadowsky preamp anyway. I put the Barts in mainly because they don't hum, and were used, so a lot cheaper than any of the modern hum cancelling designs. I also rate the DiMarzio Model J humbuckers...not as refined as the Barts, but a great low mid honk - if I played in a loud setting often, they would be my first choice.
18. I've got some old (1980's) Barts in a Jazz bitser -they are humbuckers, and I'm guessing they are classic 9J's in the current line up. They do the J bass thing very nicely, but are a touch more refined than single coils with exposed poles. They are also pretty low output, without any internal preamp, so that is something to consider.

SWR

All good stuff, although the Mr Tone Control eq is a bit overkill ( only line level and fussy to use). Things to watch out for include - excessive mains hum, blown tweeters, damaged speakers (most often on RedHeads and Triad cabs). I avoid ones that look knackered, and have been pretty lucky. Still my overall favourite amps.
20. Depends on the case, but just some big stick on rubber feet at the back can give enough support to stop the front getting stressed, or just a piece of wood screwed or stuck into the back on the case. Its not to really take weight, but just limit the amount of stress the front plate gets when (not if) it gets dropped.
21. Got a photo? Really should try one properly one day..
22. I've never pushed the master over 40% of it's travel...there is plenty of power there. Like most micro amps, I suspect it does just keep getting louder as you keep turning it. I've been told the fans are quieter now, but I do wonder if it's necessary...mine has never even got warm when pushing two cabs into a 4ohm load. Best to think of it as a 400w power amp, with eq for "room correction". Give them a call - at current PMT price (£379?) it's a bargain.

SWR

Got loads...love it, although heavy by modern standards. Heat and noisy fans can be a pain, but great amps, in my humble opinion. One observation - I think think SWR or Eden cabs suit them best.
