1. Just to repeat what Phil Parker has said. I was lucky enough to buy my dream bass from Ben Packham, I can honestly say that it was a pleasure for me to part with my hard earned. He always seems to have some great basses In the "shop" and he will let you play them all. If your lucky, one of them will speak to you ..............http://thedoublebassroom.com
2. For the price the J-Tone cant be beaten, its a great sounding P'UP and very reliable. You cant get any Piezo to sound like an expensive microphone, thats just physics, but these things come close enough to get you in the ballpark.
3. Hi, may I direct you to ....https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=greenboy%20enclosures%20for%20the%20wicked http://greenboy.us http://trickyaudio.wixsite.com/trickyaudio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-YUbQyK5Ls I use an F212 and an F112 they are the loudest lightest speakers currently available, not cheap but well built and with an astounding ability to make an upright sound good. I'm using a GK RB 1001 head at the minute but i am looking to get a micro head in the future.
4. The JTone is as good as any wing pickup you will get. I use them myself. An EQ pedal (graphic) or a decent preamp (FDeck, Fishman Platinum pro, KnK,) will make all wing pickups sound better through any amp and will also help to fight feedback.
5. What the Rev said^^^ Keep your eyes peeled for a second hand F-Deck, a two knob pre that gets you there pretty quick. https://sites.google.com/site/hpftechllc/home/hpf-pre
6. Yes to the J-Tone, cheap and every bit as good as the KnK Bassmax. (Better made IMO)

I used 250 pots, it was all I had lying around. The plate was made by Howard Slatterly (Bass Doc)

No, mines an active, I've swapped out the Ovation circuit for a MEC (Warwick) Circuit. Its an easy mod. You could just buy some Pots and make yours passive, if your handy with a soldering iron. I've tried this and it works well but looses some punch IMO. They are mighty fine basses, extremely well built and comfortable to wear. the range of sounds you get with this bass is massive, (Don't stop believing by Journey) It also does a good Andy Fraser, Free sound as well as Reggae and It has a great funk slap sound. Mines a Keeper!

Hi Ash, I Have the same bass as this, I've never heard a more bassey bass, if that makes sense. I've played a few passive Magnums but they don't have the punch of the active. Anyone getting their mitts on this wont be disappointed.
10. Dave Mann. The Violin shop Hexham http://www.hexham-violins.co.uk
11. A guy I know in Gateshed makes these pickups, they sound as good as a KnK, but for about the third of the price. I have one on one of my uprights but you will need a pre amp. (A Boss Graphic EQ would do the trick) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/J-tone-Big-double-Bass-Pick-up-/201498506263?hash=item2eea3f3417:m:mMv8R28HOczqgXmXPBsADZw
12. What TheRev said. I started on bass guitar, played fretless for bla!bla! years then bought an EUB. It was fine, I played it and loved it and TheRevs right not many punters would be able to tell the difference but I could and I knew I had to have a DB. A sort of compromise occurred when I got my first DB, a half size Boosey Hawkes Excelsior. Easier to transport than a 3/4 or 4/4 but a great improvement on the EUB and it had the look and sound. Thats the one that got me hooked and I never looked back. I'm a few more DBs down the road now, bought and sold, broken, fixed up, new fingerboard's, bridges, split's cracks and repairs, all done by myself in the shed......Hours of fun, Ha! Oh and don't forget the Strings and Pickups and Amps and Speakers. It might have been cheaper to develop a full blown crack habit. I'm still in love with the damned thing though. Acoustic every time, GO FOR IT!
13. A Pre amp would help, A second hand Fishman platinum pro, if moneys no problem a Radial PZ pre, Or even a KK pre or an FDec. These would tailor the signal prior to hitting the front of the amp. Nothing wrong with Silver slaps btw a great string for Pizz and Slap. If you want to go that bit further, a Greenboy Cab would seal the deal.
14. Hi, I will take these please. Pm'd you.
15. Ooooh! Yer giving that away. Looks great and I know the build quality from Howard the Doc. Was this the one that was at the NEBB bash?
16. Steve, I have a set of Tomastik Dominant, (Purple ends in good nick) very light use, came from luthiers to shop, then off the bass, not my thing. If you want to trade
17. Ben will have a website up and running soon thebassroom.co.uk Well worth the drive.

19. Hi Paddy109 I will take these thanks PM'd
20. Joey Glynn the bass player from Pokey Lafarge uses a Chadwick on tour. I had a bit craic with him when they played Newcastle's Clunny gig and he demo'ed the breaking down of the bass. I couldn't believe how small it all looked when packed away. He had a killer tone with his Chadwick. Wish I had the dosh, not many of these basses in Europe. Good luck with the sale Rabbie.
21. My Boosey Hawkes Ply, Greenboy cab, GK amp and my Restored Regin flatback
22. I was watching this on E-Bay and might have gone for it had it been a summer sale (why am I always skint around this time of year?) I'm glad its gone to someone who's gonna appreciate it and It did look like it had mojo in abundance. The Chord Lamberts and Underwood would be the perfect combination for this type of bass, lots of the US Rockabilly/Bluegrass players use this combination. Good luck, she's a beauty!
