1. This bass looks beautiful. Any pictures of inside the control cavity? How heavy is the bass?
2. good to see some pictures. how heavy is this?
3. Agree entirely on player, experience, skill and musicality - amazing what a great player can get out of a budget bass. I've played some lovely budget basses too - great playability and tone (Danelectro, Squier, Aria, cheap Yammies). The proportion of duds is much higher in this bracket though IME - you have to be selective. To be honest though, good as some cheap basses are, for me they don't come close to most very high-end instruments (through contacts I've managed to play some jaw dropping top end basses). I'm sure good amps and effects make a difference with a cheap bass, but I'd say investing £70 in decent strings and a good set up is an excellent first step
4. One of the best amps I've ever used - incredibly reliable and classic Trace tone. Bargain!
5. Extremely lovely and a great price - bump and good luck
6. Played this for 5 minutes yesterday in Loz's office (headphones only from a U5) - almost speechless - best bass I've ever played or seen by miles. As usual, no money and a house to pay for. I should qualify by saying Loz is a mate. Seriously tho, what a bass.
7. Every time this comes up I want it and dont have the cash - a thing of great and functional beauty
8. For info, there's a db359 on here thats worth a look as an alternative to a db750
9. Fantastic head - original tubes?
10. For sale or possible trade (for a pre CBS Fender with cash from me), a '75 USA reissue Special Edition Fender Jazz in candy apple red. Almost as new with just the faintest trace of player wear (to be honest, the bass could probably pass for brand new). Includes G&G vintage case in almost new condition and all unopened case candy apart from the grey lead that was originally supplied (not a clue where that's gone) - also includes all original hang tags. There's some information on these SE basses on here and on talkbass. They're often seen as some of the best Js Fender have made and the same build quality and woods as custom shop. I think this CAR is one of the earlier basses (about 2002) from a run of about 250 (around 900 SEs were built in total). See thread here - http://basschat.co.u...ecial%20edition This bass is almost unplayed - action is very low (probably too low for some) and again, in fantastic condition. The neck is flamed maple with a mid-dark rosewood board and pearloid blocks with white binding. Tone is very mid '70s - very growly and aggressive - I've had a '76 J and this is seriously close. Weight isn't mid '70s and the bass weighs about 9.5lbs I think (sorry no scales). Details Body - alder I thnk Finish - CAR with MHS Head - serif logo and bullet truss rod Neck - flame maple Fingerboard - mid-dark rosewood (blocks and binding) Case - vintage G&G in excellent condition Strings - rotosound swing bass medium (from what I can remember) These don't come up often and are very rare. Price is usually around £1100-1300 and I've seen some for €1600 in Europe (especially for super rare sonic blue versions). I'm selling for £975 collected or £995 with UK shipping. I'm in Cheshire and can get to Stockport no problem (even Manchester if that makes things easier). Any further info or more pictures just let me know
11. Yep - I'd try bending the contacts back too - a good first step. A really easy job to replace if you need to - just 2 minutes with a soldering iron (I'd buy a decent socket - available very readily)
12. Nice to see this back at the top - gorgeous facing - wish I could play sixers
13. +1 absolutely fantastic - love the blue leds against the white. Bernie is doing some fantastic work
