My first was a sunburst short scale Fender Mustang style thing by a company named Lynx. (tried to find a pic online, but no luck) it had a single classic chrome coated pickup and an action you could drive a bus under, any way I dropped it one day and two of the machine heads broke. It was then replaced by a Hondo II Precision (Fender head stock) from me mam's Grattan Catalogue. which had some extensive work done on it by then semi legendary luthier (creator of the flintlock Guitar) Jim Cairnes.

You beat me to it with the Thunderbird. But the G&L is a non-starter for my tastes.

Those machine heads will fit........

It wouldn't surprise me if he gets family members to buy them, then gives them their money back! I'm loving the "By PCsGC" is starting to appear on his listings.😂 -
When Captain Sensible decided it would be great fun to urinate on the audience at the Rock Garden In Middlesbrough, in 1979. Luckily, I was far enough away to avoid the Golden stream.

So, just how many basses do you own ????

On another note. Phil bringing his solo career singing style to Afterglow doesn't do it for me.

I've never underrated Mr Rutherford. I used to have a bootleg from around 1977/78 and his playing on Los Endos was utterly brilliant, he was all over that neck. He was definitely no slouch that lad!

No it isn't and no it doesn't!

You'd think so! But there's obviously 8 people at least who don't seem to know. -

I'm guessing it sold and has been returned once the buyer got it. As he's trying again. I'd like to report it, but ebay's reporting format is so restrictive.

New embassy (and also thunderbird) bass, Classic style!

I still have my Ebony Vintage Pro, done no mods to it, as it doesn't need it IMHO. -
Who influenced you to pick up and start playing Bass.

Cheers for the link Fleabag, Never heard of these lads before. This is fantastic stuff! It'll be getting a lot of play at work next week. -
First concert - Queen - Edinburgh Playhouse, 1976. Last concert - UFO - Exeter Phoenix, 2015. Best concert - UFO - Newcastle Mayfair, 1978. Worst concert - Iron Maiden - Middlesbrough Town Hall, 1981. Loudest concert - Motörhead - Newcastle Mayfair, 1980. Seen the most - The Michael Schenker Group. (80, 81, 82, 83, 2010, 2013, 2014) Most surprising - Marillion - Reading, 1983. (never thought much of them until then) Next concert - Nothing definite, but Tool are on my list. Wish I would have seen - Genesis, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Gong.

London 86 CD has always been a daft price, as it's so rare. London 86 DVD AFAIK was never released officially, the concert was filmed and shown on TV around 1988. There are actually two 86 CD's, the one above being recorded 8th May, the other a soundboard recording from the 7th May. All (plus other concert footage) are on Ilton White's channel on You Tube.

Spirit of Eden is a grower believe me.

I highly recommend Spirit of Eden, Laughing Stock, and their double compilation CD Asides Besides.

I thought this was gonna be another one of Mayfield's Master Luthiers beauties.

Here's my 2018 MIM Player Series Precision. The White PG had to go, as will the pup in the not to distant. The (to some) vastly inferior Squier above is far better all round.

Well Mr Meddle, Please forgive me mate! I've just gone and ordered a Harley Benton JB-75 MN from Thomann for the measly sum of £127.44 inc P&P. If it's as good as the one in the video below, prepare yourself for some upward punching! -

I started playing back in 1981, about a year and a bit later I bought a 1978 Fender Precision. I not long after joined a band and started playing quite regular gigs. I bought a 1982 Squier Precision in 1983 as a back up. It walked all over the Fender, I sold the Fender in '84 and sadly the JV had to go in 1992, when my 1st daughter was born. These days I have a 2014 CV 70's Precision and a 2018 Mex Fender Player Series Precision, and yet again IMHO the Squier is superior. -

I'm sure you've paid a lot for a bass that someone else will think isn't worth it/sounds shyte/ugly/not their cuppa etc! At the end of the day, you didn't fork out the cash, you've made your point, you don't like Squier's, now just get over it FFS!
