Having your own 8 Ohm cab isn’t a bad idea however I’ve read many times that mixing different speakers, even the same size, is a bit of a gamble .. I had a similar dilemma as I (my amp) also likes a 4 Ohm load so I built my own. Not sure where you are but you’re welcome to trial my 8 Ohm 112 cab I have to see if it gives you the added heft ... If I had the cash I’d probably just get a Barefaced TWO10 (4 Ohm) or something similar & hope the sound guy doesn’t mind you using your own cab lol

Tried some of the above (Wizard nice, dimarzio less so) plus a few others incl fender cs 60’s nice & fender stacked not so, sd quarter pounders loud but less character than wizards I had a time .. read up loads on talkbass & was gonna get aero 1’s as they get best recommendations for ‘growl’ that I’m after however I opted for some bare knuckle 60’s pe as I really like their guitar pups & got a good deal off eBay on some used ones .. so glad I did coz they are fab ! Even my luthier commented on them when he put them in my bass & he sees tons of basses just my 2c

I’m still wanting to try a GED2112 so maybe first dibs on it should you decide to sell lol ..

I also thought the same about my 212 .. wire each driver to separate speakon, can’t see a problem with that really even tho they both occupy the same enclosure, maybe wire one speaker in parallel with a separate speakon to link should you only have one speaker out on your amp ?

I’ve looked at the dug but not sure how well it can drive a poweramp & rather not have pedals .. guess I need to try the GED2112 really. Also, last few gigs I used other band’s 115 Combo & couldn’t hear myself very well on stage hence the 3x12 stack idea, pity my GK400RB doesn’t do 2 Ohm lol

I get what you’re wanting to try & I’m kinda after a similar thing. If I could start from scratch I’d be tempted with 2 x BF Two10’s, bottom one for ‘deep’ & top for ‘drive’, switch to 4 Ohm each to maximize poweramp or switch to 12 Ohm & run parallel to any backup amp ... however, I’m gonna use the two cabs I already have & love (except the weight) which are Bagend 212 & 112 (drive on top of deep), except I don’t have the GED2112 lol (yet), I do have two power amps waiting tho ... I believe you used to run a RBI ? How does it compare to the GED2112 ?

Moog MF Delay can kinda do sound on sound to some degree plus pseudo reverb / droning with exp pedal or ramp button & degrades just beautifully grainy here’s a link to a (withdrawn) fs thread I posted a while back for a bit more info ...
