1.
I know a couple of good builders, a fair bit of their work is fixing DIY jobs that someone has hashed, or that a bloke down the pub did for a couple of pints - or free.
I recognise that from my own line of work, where I always get asked to iron out the mistakes in the work of others. It annoys me no end, so I'm usually quite vocal about this, like: "You can ask bloody Bach (or Mozart or Schönberg or Xenakis) to make his bloody mistakes for free! I don't iron them out for free! I'm a professional!!!" Seriously though, even though I do dislike this expectation that creative workers do stuff for free, as if it was something that could be reasonably demanded instad of politely enquired about without much expectation, there is a rationale to it as well: - as creative workers, my advertising agent need a £100K revenue before getting a reasonable income - as basically a seller, I need a £200K revenue for the same - my house building buddy needs a £300K revenue for it. I appreciate the numbers will differ in another country, but my guess is the structure is there.
 2.
Loving the sound of JJ bass, virtually any track, nice and sleazy,
Ain't that so! For me personally, his parts and sound tower above everything else.
Bert, enjoy the rudimentary peni, let us you know what you think, great artwork too.
Thanks! Will try to.
Hardcore prawn is more fleshy than punk and pinker in colour.
Bugger. I'll not search for this style then. Ah well, upwards and forwards then, eh? If there's no music to find, I could always check out the nekkid women having sex. Kinda cool too!
It's strange when people say punk was only one date to another [...] it's a state of mind.
Aye! Just think of MC5, Frijid Pink, Stooges, Peter Hammill (kinda), and I'm sure thousands of others.
 3.
I think I have actually listened to fragile by yes every week for about the last ten years
Any first impressions? Think it might be a keeper? Me, I play songs from Fragile in my head on what might be a weekly basis, so with you there. Also with you on the Chilis, Primus and Faith No More. Keepers! Makes me realise I forgot Mr. Bungle. Keeper!
 4.
Rudimentary Peni, YouTube them, mind blowing. Like nothing I had ever heard before.
Ah! That name rings a bell. I'm sure I must have heard them in my quest for anarcho and hardcore. I'll check them out. Thanks!
I found my Norge album: Ingenting for Norge featuring, Allahrm, terror, Norrrske Budeier and Fader War.
Aw, man! Tusen takk! (Thousand thanks!) I'll immerse myself in the interwebs and try and check these out - which again may also give links to other bands.
the man said it was easier to get hardcore porn than hardcore punk. This was in the 1980s.
That explains it. I've been stupid and have looked for the wrong stuff. Rats! But it's a music style I'd never heard of. Similar to punk I gather? Thanks very much! best, bert
 5.
The mystery drink is in fact A&W Root Beer
Resolved! Another BC thread rescued and another job well done!
 6. Innersting! I had a hard time finding Norwegian punk other than Wannskrækk (now renamed Dumdum Boys and a lot poppier) as well as a local band I like, even though I know the city of Bergen had an active, reportedly good, punk circle, and I gather so had Oslo. Any name you could share?
 7.
Or is this just a list of bands I like?
Idunno, but lotsa kudos for mentioning Flux of Pink Indians! They deserve more attention IMHO.
 8. Great bass and great story! Congrats, and i hope your SR gives you the same surprise as mine gave me when I knew it could never compete with my Bongos... BTW, all this boring talk about basses. What tipple was it?!?!?!
 9.
Another one I keep going back to is Jon Anderson's 'Animation' LP.
Ain't that right? ...and exactly Animation was unavailable on CD for like decades! Edit: beaten to it by KevB. Me I shamefully forgot: Kate Bush: Hounds of Love King Crimson: Discipline Van der Graaf Generator: The Box. OK then, if you must know: "Still Life" and "The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome"
 10. Hey Lebowsky, and welcome! best, bert
 11.
And the EBMM forum is full of psychos.
A StingRay then, for that very reason. Less time spent on Internet fora, so it must be good.
 12. Hey Ricardo, and welcome! Yup! The BassChat 500/2 tuning machines are much improved over the TalkBass ones. Enjoy! bert
 13. Normally, for this I'd propose you test a BH 500 and some TC BC or Ashdown cabs... So my question would be what, if anything, is wrong with what you've already got? Also, have you judged the different sounds you get when connecting one of your cabs only? It might just be you love the sound of one of those, and would just need another one of that same model. Whilst Ashdown's combination of a 115 and 410 has a certain reputation of working well, there is no general rule of any combi of 15s and 10s sounding good, and there are some technical issues that make it at the very least a case of testing before buying. Getting another one of the cab you like, however, by large is risk free. That said, if you do wish for a new set, the first thing we need to know is a budget. I also wonder where you get the 400W number from. You aren't by any chance under the wrong impression that that is twice as loud as 200W? I have to ask, see, as we need to establish what we're talking about here.
 14. Wow! That is soo much better than my cupboard with bass cases and guitar cases inside. This way they're also asking to be played.
 15.
Music is just the BEST thing
There's a slight possibility I'm somewhat slanted in my view, seeing as that I'm a musician, but: - I LOVE the theatre. In competition with music, it stands no chance. - I LOVE novels. In competition with music, they stand no chance. - I LOVE poetry. In competition with music, it stands no chance. - I LOVE paintings. In competition with music, they stand no chance. - I LOVE sculptures. In competition with music, they stand no chance. - I LOVE film art. In competition with music, it stands no chance. Music is just the BEST thing. BTW; I could write a long winded serious post about this, but you wouldn't wanna read it and I don't wanna write it. The gist stays the same: music is un-effing-believably effective in its strength as to moving people... and then to think how abstract it normally is... (or exactly because of that). I'd say music is just the BEST thing.
 16. My rule: one album per artist, but cheating is good, m'kay? AMM: AMMMusic Colin Blunstone: Ennismore André Boucourechliev: Archipel 3 John Coltrane: Ascension Miles Davis: Bitches Brew Egg: The Civil Surface Gentle Giant: The Power and the Glory Hatfield and the North: The Rotters' Club Karin Krog: some old (titleless?) album with John Surman Motorpsycho: Angels and Daemons at Play National Health: Complete Krzysztof Penderecki: Threnos Propaganda: A Secret Wish Scritti Politti: Cupid & Psyche '85 John Surman: The Amazing Adventures of Simon Simon (not really but it's a way cooler title than those boring reflections and withholding patterns) David Sylvian: Secrets of the Beehive Iannis Xenakis: Persephassa Yes: Close to the Edge Zappa: The Mothers of Prevention I could go on for years...
 17. Especially when you're already two to three minutes late as said bloody drummer took his time ( ) doing his bloody ( ) girlfriend in the first place.
 18. Must dig deep for that one: simply the t-shirts with only the classic Yes logo in blueish and whiteish with a red line around, as they were sold in the early seventies, during the Tales and Relayer tours. Edit: something like this: Oh, and also something like this, but without the text, making it a lot more beautiful. They sold them during a European tour at the time Draconian Times was released. '96 or so? Had great quality, so I wore it for years and years Funnily even my old mother-in-law thought it was beautiful. I never explained her the picture though. 19. Hey BijouDrains, and welcome! Ah, the Jerry Jones! Adviced by another BC'er I almost got to buy one last year, and now my GAS knob is turned fully to the right again. Anyway, enjoy BC! bert
 20. C'mon guys! Take it inside!
 21. How decent must the cutaway be? Totally free 24th fret? Or is it enough if it resembles the TRB 6's?
 22. Doesn't add up, and quite annoyingly so, and that's even when taking into consideration an ad has to be short. "Cocky young 'uns with lack of experience, overselling themselves" is what I read from this. They probably perform at all the major festivals like the Milwaukee Conservative Christian Up Tempo Festival, and most probably also the Milwaukee Reformed/Baptist Union Complex C&W (Christian & W*nker, that is) Festival. Boy, I do not like current white middle class culture in the US much, do I?
 23. Hey Fisheth, and welcome! Enjoy this place then. It ain't too bad. best, bert
 24. Hey Pixiechick, and welcome! By large, BC is filled to the rim with bass players, returning bass players after long hiati (don't give a demn if that is correct - it's just so cool), and very old, very bald and very fat noobs. (Sadly I'm of the last type, but I do have a cool story: when studying classical music (composition and pipe organ in my case) many, many decades ago, my teacher asked whether I also had any albums with non-organ music, as he meant this was very important for the blah blah and the blah blah. I had to admit I had no organ music albums at all, but did have a lot of bass guitar albums. ) Anyway, enjoy the site and its banter. It looks as if you're nestling snuggly already. best, bert
 25. Hi Steve, That's correct. I can see you from my living room window, and am waving right now. Welcome, and enjoy! bert
