1. Although being perfectly happy with the amp I have I've pre-ordered one of these! http://www.quilterla.../bass-block-800 Not an Ice power amp module. Their own class D design. Mr Quilter is the Q from QSC.
2. I received another replacement power supply for my Le Bass a few days ago and it works silently. I would imagine this is the power supply that is being supplied now. I'm still absolutely loving the Le Bass - so versatile and full of character. I use it all the time even though my Markbass TTE801 sounds great anyway.
3. £100 collected from Northampton or £108 shipped insured to Uk. Pedal is in as new condition. *NOW SOLD* Selling my Sonic Spark as my needs have changed since I bought a new rig. This is a high quality tube sound/enhancer/preamp pedal that operates on any style of voltage between 9 and 15v (dc/ac or either polarity). Numerous sounds available from this pedal including a killer SVT tone. I don't use distortion but I've noticed that other people say that it adds to other overdrive pedals for a great sound. The only trade that would interest me would be a swap for a Basswitch Classic Boost Here's a link to review by Ed Friedland
4. £100 inc uk shipping (insured) *NOW SOLD* I managed to source these (4 string) pickups from the US a while ago but have since sold the bass they were in (with the original pickups). I'd had some original EMG jazz pickups back in the 80's and loved them (sound engineers loved them too) but I wanted a more vintage sound so after much research I bought these alnico versions and they sound great. They come with solderless pots and EMG's active tone control (sounds like a really good passive tone control). They have a very even sound across the strings. Very good condition if you discount the box! I've shown the pots attached to a control plate but this was just for demonstration purposes and is not included. All instructions are in the box. Battery required of course. Here's EMG's blurb about them. The JAX Set is based off EMG's original J, but uses radiused Alnico V magnets instead of ceramic and our X Series preamp. This creates a tone that is warm and open for a more vintage sound with a broad frequency range and added dynamic response and feel. The JAX provides bass players with natural presence, powerful lows, and expansive midrange. With our X Series preamp on-board, this pickups set truly bridges the gap between passive and active tone - giving players the best of both worlds. Whether you play fretted or fretless you'll get an incredibly full sound with these bass pickups. There are some great reviews out there for these and a video by Bobby Vega. 5. For Sale, my Sandberg Tobacco Sunburst TT4 (No trades I'm afraid as I have way too many basses !) Alder body, rosewood fingerboard, high gloss finish. £720 *Now Sold* I bought this new in 2011 but it's not getting the attention it deserves since I bought my Umbos. Great condition but for one small ding on the rear/side of the upper horn that hasn't gone through the finish and a bit of belt swirl on the back (both hard to photograph). Delano pickups and Sandberg branded 2 band Glockenklang preamp. Treble control acts as treble cut in passive mode Width at nut/zero fret 39mm Weight 9lbs 6 oz. Sandberg gigbag included Collection from Northampton preferred. Can meet within reasonable distance. 6. My Markbass TTE801 isn't heavy but it is fairly big. The sound is really good though. I've not tried a ICE module based head that I liked yet so I'm really interested in the Quilter 800 that should be out soon. Their own power amp design (like Markbass) with an interesting preamp layout. Might make a nice backup.
7. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
8. The Le Bass sounds really good straight into the LM11 input though. Way better than my DHA VT1 DI (or anything else I tried) did.
9.
There are some jumpers internally though to switch the loop between parallel and series mode - but suprised that it wouldn't be after the preamp though in either case.
I've just checked the schematic again and the return bypasses the gain input but enters before the eq section. There has been much discussion and verification of this on the "other " forum. Oh, and I tried it too.....
10.
Depending on the band situation, I now use it in the FX return of my Markbass so it acts as a pre-amp. In other situations I just wire it to the input of my amp.
I don't know about other Markbass models but going into the FX return on an LM2/3 doesn't bypass the preamp section so will not make much difference sadly.
11. I remember trying a Nash Jazz and a Precision couple of years back. Nowhere near as good as a Roadworn Fender IMO. In fact I recall thinking that my 81 Tokai J and my 78 Aria P were far better in every way.
12. Sorry for posting this again ! http://youtu.be/s736Ryj4J3A
13. I have a Zoom B3 and a MB60 and they're great as an all round effects unit. I've been trying to replicate the clean sound I use from the Two Notes unit on the B3 without success. It sounds good but not that good ! Obviously there is more to the B3 than just amps and preamps, it depends whether you want more than this.
14. Two Notes Le Bass. Ridiculously easy to sculpt your tone. Four different switching options. I have a DHA VT1 DI and the LeBass is in a different class IMO.
15.
I do like the sound of this. That demo is cool, but 10 minutes if talking before the pedal is even turned in is a bit much! Something of a tale of woe this thread, though. All these issues with power, interference and popping. Are these all confirmed to be defects? Large investment for a floor unit that is anything other than perfect!
I do believe that there was an issue with the first batch of power supplies. I believe that TwoNotes are sourcing a new power supply. Personally, I bought a One spot CS7 and the pedal now runs super quiet. On another note I rolled the tube for a Harma DR250 ECC83 and now channel A has more mids and channel B sounds less brittle IMO. Not that it sounded bad before, I just had a spare valve and thought I'd try it.
16. The TTE501 and also the 801 (which I have) both have a class D power amp which I think has been updated. The preamp section looks the same on the new models. I had a TTE500 and I'm not able to compare with a 501 but the 801 appears to be even warmer with a bigger low end.I've not tried a TTE800 either though..... I've seen some people complain that the TTE500 lacked a little when it came to the bottom end with some cabs. As for changing the tubes, yes there are six allen key screws on the top - much easier than the method for the TTE500!
17. I'd decided that I'd rather have the bass response there and cut to the required amount. With the HPF on my Fishman Platinum it's possible to find the sweet spot of trouser flappy-ness without swamping the mids so you can't hear the notes.
18. Having tried the S112, I've found that I can get a very similar sound out of the 1126 by using a variable high pass filter. The main advantage of the 1126 is (like the Fearless F112) you can pump lots of power into it and it just gets louder without sounding boxy. I could probably have done all my historical gigs with just one cab and a 800w amp. My Markbass TTE801 has a lot more bottom end than my old TTE500 which I wasn't expecting and given the 1126's are flat and full response I can achieve the "character" I'm after with the head. I do have to curb the bottom end though.
19.
I purchased one from andertons a few days ago, sounds amazing! After one rehearsal and one gig, loads of positive feedback from people. But I'm also experiencing some power problems With its own power supply it's fine (apart from the headphone out, always noisey, but not a feature I'm fussed about) I have the TRex Chameleon (no current doubler yet to feed its 500ma) so I swapped with our singer for his TRex Classic and plugged into the 12v 500ma output, there's a low constant hum, almost a low feedback tone, never experienced this before (gets louder on channel B and louder still in Hot Fusion) Gutted! I'm off to the USA playing a few gigs next week, and wanted to use the TRex 110volt switch (to also power my tuner) rather than having to buy a step up voltage increaser. Top marks for the tone and cab sim (works amazin to keep the distortion under control when di'ed straight to pa) but read a lot of people having power issues. Lastly, im not athletic on stage, but by no means a shoe gazer. I have had some difficulty with the switching, especially while singing and playing. Something I'm getting used too, but I cut the pedal off rather than going from hot fusion mode to channel B a few times. I wasn't 100% on buying the pedal off the limited videos online and lack of local music shops stocking them, but sound wise, what an amazing pedal! Oh, and I think it's a better idea not having the cab sim (mixture of 8x10 and hartke 4x10 with horn so Two Notes told me) on the Jack output. It won't give you a true sound out your amp to the DI.
I'm awaiting a replacement unit as I had interference problems with mine as well as the hum and the tested power supplies from the distributor were still noisy compared to another PSU that I had. I'm going to stick with the Le Bass though as it sounds so good (and it's impractical and expensive to import a Noble !)
20. Further price reduction. Now £325 If it doesn't go at this price I may keep it to use with my EUB.
21.
If I were to pick one of these up in the US, would I be okay to use it with my UK 12V power supply?
If it's at least 500ma, the correct polarity and well regulated/isolated then yes
How does the headphone out sound on these? I think the cab simulation only effects the DI and headphone out. I'm after something with a really great sounding headphone out.
It sounds great, much better than my DHA and Zoom B3. However there is a buzz when not touching the strings (like the DHA). I'll wait until my replacement power supply arrives but there's no buzz from the DI or 1/4 " out with the power supply I've been using so I'm not confident.
22. Received my Le Bass today and I'm absolutely amazed .I wasn't wanting it for distortion just clean-ish tubey warmth and for a bit extra EQ and boost in front of my already tubey Markbass TTE801 head. The Noble preamp was what I really wanted but the expense and hassle getting one shipped was . However, if the Noble sounds better than this I would be surprised ( I don't need the DI as I already have a Basswitch IQ). The sheer tonal versatility of this unit is stunning and it's hard to get a bad sound out of it....... Except that the power supply that came with it made the unit really noisy. Things improved when I plugged in my Markbass Compressore power supply but there was still a background hum which increased when I rolled off the bass volume ! I dug around and managed to find another 12v supply and after using a polarity reversing adapter the Le Bass is now super quiet. Andertons were very helpful when I rang to inform them and a replacement 12v supply is being sent from the distributors. I have a pub gig near Witney this Saturday and can't wait to try it with the band.
23. I used Markbass for years while not being keen on the look (yellow cones and ugly large plastic-y logo) but the build quality/components were excellent. I now use the fairly divisive V-framed TKS cabs but I personally love the look. What I'm not keen on are the cabs that have cheap off the peg grills held in place by a plethora of cheap visible screws in front of more visible screws in the speakers. If there is a choice of two similar cabs with similar quality components and one looks aesthetically better to me then that's the one I will go for. I probably would have gone for Fearless F112's if the grill options were the same as some of their US made cabs but I'm really happy with the similar concept TKS 1126's.
