1.
I'd like to do the same but with another combo acting as a cab. I've a 4 Ohm speaker in the combo and would like to use this without any invasive electricians work. For example speaker cable from cab jack on combo A into (say Effects Recv by passing the amp of) combo B. Could it work? OP sounds like you're best off getting a combo with a line out to a cab.
You can't take a speaker out and connect it to an effects return The speaker voltage would damage the other combos head. You also couldn't connect the speaker out to another speaker connection in the other combo without disconnecting the 2nd combo's head from its speaker, You would, again, run the risk of damaging the head otherwise. Running tuner out to a second combo's input might be the best option but there may be phase implications.
 2. Well it sounds like the pots are linear instead of audio taper for a start if yours is the same. It sounds like the pickups could be the issue if there's not much output. You could wire the pickups directly to the output jack to see if the output is still low but if it is then changing the pickups is probably the only course of action. I'm not sure if the pickups are a similar size to any readily available replacements though.....
 3. Are you sure that you don't have a fault with the electrics? I noticed that Andertons blurb for the Kingfisher describe the tone as "fat". Do both pickups sound thin? Are your pickup heights set correctly? Humbuckers don't usually sound thin if everything's ok. Did you purchase from new? All the preamps you mentioned are active btw.
 4.
Does this have a fan?
It does have a automatic 2 speed fan. Mine had a whine when the fan was on its highest setting originally but that soon stopped after being run for a while.
 5. It's loud. You'd probably need a pedal for metal though. I don't find the break -up when the gain is turned up very "musical". It's really in the realm of "clean tubey". Also the useful volume range is spread throughout the whole control as opposed to all crammed into the first half of the dial like some amps.
 6. It should sound great with the SC
 7. Did you buy it from the new dealer in Wembley?
 8.
Just bought one. Seems to tick all my boxes - lightweight, tiny footprint, loud, great tone - for a back up to my main amp head and for rehearsals. Everything else in the class D amps I have tried so far has disappointed one way or another. Look forward to it arriving this week!
Congratulations . I don't feel so lonely on here now. I bought mine as a backup too........ I've done two more gigs with mine, both with my two Barefaced One cabs. The amp performed very well but I felt the cabs, while perfectly loud enough, lacked the oomph of just one of my TKS 1126 cabs. I will use the One 10's for rehearsals and for gigs where I use my EUB from now on. The Bass Block suits the TKS cabs perfectly.
 9. Okay, I've been playing this again and I'm dithering due to it's excellentness . If it doesn't sell from this bump I will take it as a sign and withdraw it.
 10.
I had a single 1126 for a little while, and was able to A/B it with the S112. The 1126 definitely sounded bigger, with more headroom, but it was much wider-sounding - not a particularly good match for the big-booty'd MESA Walkabout I was using at the time. The S112 'speaks' more, and was (and still is) more suited to my tastes.
I have read the threads on TB about Baer speakers and they are not designed with the same concept as the 1126 or Fearless at all. The 1126 is a full range flat response cab like the Fearless and requires EQ (HPF and possibly LPF is best) or cab modelling to get a similar result to the S112 (entirely possible using an HPF). Neo speakers generally have been labelled with having an unpleasant upper midrange (depends on the speaker in my opinion) but as the 1126 is 2 or 3 way the 3012LF doesn't get up that high. I'm not sure what the 6" speaker Tommy uses and whether that is neo or ceramic but as it doesn't have to cover anything but mids I would have thought that would have been enough to make the cab atypical in that respect. The 3012LF does sound better with lots of watts through it though.
 11.
Just had an intensive listening session at the sound samples on the tks website. Whereas over here on basschat the s112 and seems to be the winner, I like the samples of the 1126 best.... although I was looking for a 115 cab:) Has anyone played a single 1126? My amp is a Mesa Walkabout (300watts @ 4 ohms, only 185watts at 8 ohms)
I have 2x1126's. I have only used both on one gig and I would easily have managed with one. I can't imagine a gig where one 1126 wouldn't be enough with the right wattage. Unfortunately I don't think that 185 watts would be enough to drive one of these. I think 300 would be an absolute minimum. I use either a Markbass TTE801 or Quilter BB800 and one 1126 is enough for any gig I can imagine (with PA support at larger venues) at 450w +. The TKS1126 is a similar concept to the Fearless F112 if you need extra input (same Eminence 3012LF driver).
 12. Unfortunately my band's drummer is busy doing shows all October so no gigs until Bonfire night. I did get a second Barefaced One10 and have been trying this setup at home. The BB800 sounds fantastic whatever bass or cabs I use. I have a couple of basses that I had put to one side and ignored. The Bass Block has breathed new life into them. The EQ is really powerful and ridiculously easy to use. The learning curve for this amp is about 1 minute. I like the gain set between 5 and 7.5 (clicks on the dial). It doesn't really do dirt but sounds really good with a dirty setting on my Two Notes Le Bass. The HPF dial on the amp works really well with my cabs but I kind of wish, in a way, that I could turn the deep control up as it sounds so sweet. This amp is all about the tone though.
 13. *Now may be open for specific trades (light-ish passive Sandbergs or Sandberg Basic) *Withdrawn due to coming to my senses i have decided to sell my beautiful Sandberg "California" VM4 made around 2004-6 (I think). I have 3 other Sandbergs and have decided that as much as I love this bass I only want to play passive basses now. It doesn't say California on the headstock instead it says "Custom Shop Instrument". From enquiries I made to Sandberg I believe this was a special bass built before Sandberg officially started making the California series. I bought this on here in 2010 and have used it regularly since. It has a very reasonable weight of 9lbs 2oz and has terrific balance. I upgraded the old active circuit with a brand new Sandberg preamp as the old one did not have a passive treble control and I also added a new style aged nickle Sandberg string tree instead of the old Fender style one. The finish is a really nice soft-aged white/cream. I don't think I added any further dings! This bass has Delano pickups in a P and MM style rather than Sandberg's own versions (which most of the VM's have) and the preamp is Sandberg's own 2-band with active/passive push/pull volume knob (made by Glockenklang for Sandberg) The neck is 40mm at the zero fret,so a little wider than a Jazz but narrower than a typical Precision and has a fairly slim feel and plays very well. I believe that the body wood is Alder. The bass comes with a Sandberg gig bag. I am based in Northampton and I would prefer collection only (or meet within reasonable distance). See new trade options at the top. 14. I found one Barefaced One10 surprisingly loud when I last gigged mine in a pub (Rock/Funk band with guitar and keys). I'm awaiting a second and I think this will be plenty loud enough for most if not all gigs with my Quilter BB800. The One10 produces a low end that belies it's size. I'd rather have the bass available and be able to dial it out if needs be. If I need more ( ) volume and more high end I have 2 x TKS1126. I chose the 1126 because I felt that the TKS S112 did not have enough low end for the sound I want and the Aguilar SL112, I feel, lacks punch.
 15.
Previous Class D amps I've had seemed light on 'heft'. They just didn't seem as full and round as A/B amps I'd owned. Can you comment on the Bass Block in this sense?
I'm old enough to have owned and tried a lot of different amps (including Class A/B heads that lacked heft too). I've been none too impressed with any of the ICE module Class D heads that I've tried. I have a Markbass TTE801 which uses Markbass's own power module and doesn't lack in "heft". The Bass Block, also, is full and round while still retaining a good transparency. No problems in that department IMO .
To the owner of the bass block - how would you think the unusual eq arrangement on it would work with a fretless bass, in order to push the mids more than you normally would on a fretted bass? D.
The Bass Block's eq section has a Deep control which, when turned to the left engages a HPF at 100hz. The contour knob, when turned to the right activates a LPF. Cutting bass and treble and boosting gain or volume effectively boosts middle. I have had no trouble achieving a Jaco-ish back pickup sound even with the amp set flat.
 16.
Wondering whether the thickness at higher gain settings has something to do with the built in limiter.
I did my first proper gig with it on Saturday and ran it through my Barefaced One10. It was a gig I knew wouldn't need my TKS volume-wise. Even so, when I first plugged in I noticed a lot of overblown bass from the One10 direct on a wooden floor. 30 seconds of adjusting the 2 tone controls and I'd found a sound that I didn't need to change all night. I'd dialled in a little of the HPF setting on the Deep control and left the contour flat. I set the gain around at 7.5 (all controls are notched) and the tone was full and rich but still detailed. One more notch on the gain and I would have been in break-up territory but, as it was, I had a harmonic rich vintage tone. Our keyboard player kept looking round to express his appreciation and disbelief that the sound was coming from such a small package. As far as the limiters (there are 2) there doesn't appear to be any restraint of the signal. The low end, in particular, sounds free and effortless and the "thickness" seems to come from added harmonics similar to how the Basswitch Sonic Spark works. Here's a technical explanation from Pat Quilter, http://www.quilterlabs.com/index.php/products/bassblock-amplifiers/bass-block-in-depth
 17. My report after 2 nights of testing. 1st night. Blues Jam where I provided the backline with the BB800 going into my Barefaced One10. This was as much a test of the One10 for me and both amp and cab came through with honours. I used the Bass Block mostly with the EQ set flat and this was perfect for the One10 on the night. A warm, full but detailed sound that sat with the band well (I sat out front while others used it at first). It was competing with 2 guitarists using Blues/ProJuniors flat out and fairly loud drummers and coped well volume-wise set with the gain halfway and the master set around 600watts (I was using just the 8 ohm cab so 300-ish) Alex at Barefaced says that the cab can take up to 500 watts if set clean and there was plenty left on the gain. 2nd night. Band rehearsal with one TKS1126. I had more of a frame of reference for this, the room being notorious but familiar. Guitarist using home made valve amp and 4x12 cab and keyboard using a QSC K12. I started with the EQ flat and the sound wasn't too bloomy in the lows as I have had before with this cab in this room and the bass sounded full, present and clear but not too forward in this mid hungry room. Moving the Deep control to the left activates the HPF and this is where the amp is perfect for this particular cab. Still full but the mids now shone through. In summary, not as "old school vintage" as my Markbass TTE801 but anything but sterile and mild mannered. The sound does seem to get thicker on the higher gain settings with a little break up in the 8-10 range but I kept it around 5-6 mostly which was full enough with plenty of oomph and headroom to spare. A very classy piece of kit with Pat Quilter's very strong reputation for reliability.
 18.
if this had come in around £250 less than it is, i would have considered it as a backup to my SVT2 as i just love that Darkglass tone. At that price and knowing what wimpy power unit that is still being flogged to us i think i will keep passing on the class D thing until we start seeing some of the pro ones that get used in higher class PA amps (crown etc) coming over to us to use.
The Quilter uses an uprated (for bass) power module based on QSC's K series power amp. Also ok for 2.5ohm use (2ohm if not pushed to extremes).
 19. TM's and TT's are generally Delano. VM's are Sandbergs own (or have been for a while) I have an early VM4 with Delano's. I think Sandberg described the difference as that the Sandbergs were more aggressive. I have a newer VS4 with a Sandberg P and the Delano seems to have more mids.
 20.
Only adds 3.4 % to the price... Which I'm happy to pay to stop US HMO's taking over the NHS...
And the cost of CE conformity for electrical goods. TTIP would appear to be dead in the water anyway. But we digress...
