1. I'm awaiting a 1126 (possibly before Christmas apparently !) and I tried Bassgear's tweeterless one with my Markbass TTE500 and I thought that the response sounded very flat across all frequencies. The TTE has less bottom end, I believe, than the Streamliner so this may bear this out. Hopefully they will be a good match (even though I've uprated to a TTE801 in preparation). I think, perhaps, that what you are hearing is the sound of the Streamliner through a flat response cab.
2. It does look well constructed. It appears to share the same preamp board as the TTE 500 but the power amp circuitry is now in the same compartment hence the bigger (now fully enclosed) case. I've yet to work out how to access the preamp tubes. There is a small grill on one side but I can only imagine being able to change the first tube through that. I'm sure that there must be a better way though.
3. Having ordered a new TKS 1126 I decided to upgrade from my existing and much loved Markbass TTE 500 to a new TTE 801 so that I can take advantage of the 500w into the single 8ohm cab. If my research is correct the 1126 is less efficient than my existing Markbass cabs and although 300w would be perfectly adequate I'd rather run it at 500w. The first thing I noticed was that it was quite a bit bigger (in height, width and depth) than my TTE 500 and barely fits on my NY604 (there is overhang). Luckily the 1126 is the same size as the head when in vertical mode so this won't be a problem. The Gator double kickdrum padded bag I've been using still fits although it's quite tight. I've only compared the sound between the two heads at bedroom volume and they appear to be in the same "family" so I'm relieved that the move from analogue power section to digital and Italian to Indonesian construction won't matter. The yellow illuminated Markbass logo looks surprisingly cool too IMO. It's going to be a while before the TKS cab arrives and with no gigs or rehearsals until the new year I won't be able to make any more judgements for a while . I just thought I'd share as there is nothing out there about these heads.
4. I tried the S112's and although I liked them there were a few reasons that I went for the 1126. As a single cab, I thought that the S112 might not have enough bottom end for my needs. Likewise, when used as a pair, they had a (albeit nice) bark which might not suit my playing style for all genres. I've seen people have paired the H115 with the 1126 but just wondered if an S112 with a 1126 might tame the bark for my bigger gigs.
5. I've today ordered a 1126 from Bassgear with the aim of using it as a single cab solution for the majority of gigs. Anyone have any thoughts on whether my Markbass TTE 500 will have enough power at 8ohms for me to achieve this with a band with keyboards? I'm wondering if upgrading to a TTE 801 would be advisable. Also I'm thinking that another 1126 would be overkill for what I need so would pairing it with a S112 be feasible? Any thoughts from owners?
6. I understand that the OP has been sorted now but for future reference I use 2 of these http://www.diy.com/d...n/319289_BQ.prd and they work really well.
7. The stickiness disappears in time. I gave my second set a helping hand with string cleaner and a non-stick safe scourer before I put them on.
8. I'm a big fan of the new Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky Flats. Very bright (and kind of roundwound-y) for flats but if you roll off the tone they have loads of character. Alternatively, I find that Status flats really have that old school sound when worn in and are exceptional value. I prefer the sound to LaBellas or TI's
9. As a TTE owner I would suggest that a cab with good lows would match well. My suggestion would be the Randy Jackson, Traveler 121H (preferably 2), or one of the 4x10's or Standard 2x10. I wouldn't recommend the Traveler 102 by itself though as it's a little too shy in the lows for that head.
10. Having used the Cobalt flats live at a jam night a few times I can report that I really like them and also, having heard people play my bass, they really sit in the mix perfectly. The initial stickiness wears off ( I gave my second set a helping hand with a non stick scourer and methylated spirit before stringing) and the tone has all the character of a good flat with some roundwound punch and brightness without string noise. Having tried most of the strings that aim to operate between flats and rounds these are by far my favourites and will be my go-to string in future.
11. The 4 string 2 band active Sandbergs have a tone control that works even with the battery removed in passive mode. My vote would be the all passive Sandberg Umbo though. Not the best recording but.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-RjmUFec40
12. Very much so. Almost round wound in the way they sound with tone fully open.
13. I bought 2 sets of these while visiting the USA. I had a D string break (a replacement is on it's way) but robbed one from the other set and put them on my Sandberg Umbo which seems like a good match. They are quite bright, a little more so than Status half-rounds for instance, and by use of a passive tone control, can obtain sounds from roundwound-ish to flatwound-ish. What it seems to do best however is it's own sound which combines the qualities of both. It has the percussive sound of a roundwound with the thump of a flat. As an all round string this may be what I have been looking for. I will report back when I've done my first gig with them.
14. I'm interested in how you find the MFD's with no bass cut. My L1000 sounds a little full on with both of the passive controls on full.
15. Both cabs still available. At this point I'd rather sell as a matching pair.
16.
still available?
Yes. I've had a fair bit of interest but location appears to be an issue with everyone that has enquired. Kev
17. Some interest. May be willing to meet halfway if distance an issue.
18. Having bought yet another Markbass cab (NY604) on the spur of the moment I have decided to sell the following cabs to make room in the house. [s]Markbass Club 121 (x2) with Roqsolid covers . 400watts RMS Now £260 each[/s] *NOW SOLD* Markbass brought in these speaker cabs with new generation B&C drivers, proper horn and smart tolex covering with piping. Super lightweight at less than 28lbs with a massive but more open sound than previous Markbass cabs. http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=146 I've been using these cabs as my main rig with a Markbass TTE500 and they sound great with electric bass. I also play Electric upright and although it sounds good with these cabs finding a sound quickly when swapping instruments led me to wanting a separate rig for my EUB. Can also be used in kickback mode. Horn attenuator on the side. Cost me £550 each new. [s]Markbass Traveller 121H with Roqsolid cover. 400watts RMS *Price drop* now £260 [/s] Now sold. [s]I bought this to use with my EUB but ended up using it alone for smaller electric gigs and bought a NY121 instead for EUB. This cab is just over a year old but is Italian made. Like the Clubs this cab is full range and has the classic Markbass 12" sound. Really punchy especially with my LM2. Has a proper 1" horn with attenuator.[/s] All in very good condition Club cabs pics Would only consider trade involving a Basswitch IQ.
19. All of my Sandbergs are around or just over 9lbs.
