1.
Wasn't Toby something to do with Andy Frazer? I think it was.
Think your right.....definite FREE connection tho'....cheers.
 2. Toby......i'm sure this was Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Co) Band when Free split in early 70s???? Or was it Peace??? But sure there's a connection to the Band FREE.
 3. Hi Folks, Just started playing Bass again.....Not ready to take the plunge just yet gigging wise.....although I did play about 10 years ago.....Ideally i'd like to play Blues, Rock/Blues, RnB, Soul ect.......So looking for a decent Combo for future.....currently playing thro' a Marshall Bass State 65w.....which I bought for Home use and possibly Rehearsals? Any help would be greatfull and much appreciated......I don't really fancy a half stack as i'm limited to space ect.....hope to hear from you, Thanks Bob.
 4.
Hi thebigyin - yeah, light it isn't but has a nice sustain, at least.
You'll find a lot of those old 'Jap' copies on the heavy side....but still good as most stuff that comes out of Japan. I'm playing a mid 80s (I think) Jap Fender Jazz but it's quite light and has a lovely tone.....a tad high on the action but nothing that hinders it's playability it's a tad battered but it's my pride and joy at mo'.....as I've just got back into playing again after a break....I bought a nice Squier cv Bass a couple of years ago but sold it after a few months.....but missed the Bass and hopefully make a big effort this time to get gigging again maybe next year....Cheers Bob.
 5.
Great album that mate
Sure is......although I must admit I love Roger Glovers Bass Tone on 'Machinehead' .....but that whole 70s vibe does it for me.
 6. Welcome.....I had a nice old 70s Colombus Jap 'p' Bass gigged it regular weighed a bloody ton lol....enjoy.
Me too.....but I still enjoy, must admit tho' i'm a massive 'Blues' fan and like yourself find myself jamming round a twelve bar with different styles....be it Shuffle, Funky....lol.

 12.
Saw this posted on Facebook originally, great bit of footage of Paul Turner and his band Shuffler tearing it up on a couple of groovy covers:
Amazing.....prefer it to original.

 14.
yes Willie Weeks on this live album. my opinions are subjective of course. there a great band on this album. "Little Ghetto Boy" is some of the best bass playing ive ever heard, not just from Willie but from any bassist ever. oh f*** it, here it is. his playing is just wonderfully musical.
I couldn't agree more the Bass Playing blew me away....great album.
 15.
For as long as i can remember Donny Hathaway's voice has been in my memory. i personally think as subjective as this subject is, he has the best voice ever to be recorded. he has power, control, subtlety, he never EVER, misses a note, or goes off key. pure perfection.. and this recording is live. to think this man threw himself out of a building and killed himself from depression.?
Willie Weeks on Bass i believe.....correct me if i'm wrong.....never the less Beautifull.
 16. Paul Rodgers.....greatest Rock Vocalist.
 17. Thanks Guyz probably this is an individuals issue.....Jamerson was great but his lines were to me tastefull and melodic not just a blear of notes, bends and trickery.....each to there own on this one........but thanks for the comments.....I agree that sometimes 'Boundaries need to be pushed' but not playing it like a Lead Guitar......just a no, no for me....Cheers.
 18. Hello, Forgive my Rant just a personal view......but what's your opinion on the roll of the Bass Player.....to me it was always and still is to keep it all together??? So why is it the need with so many Bassists today to 'Be so Flash' Just an example watched a clip of Rhonda Smith don't get me wrong she's amazing....but the clip shows her with the band.....another Bass Player doing the Roll of Bass Player....while she's out front playing Bass like a 'Lead Guitarist' loads of effects and so on.....not just her but so many out there....why this need to 'Push the Boundaries' eh Rant over.......Just 'Keep the Groove'.....Cheers.
