1. Welcome aboard Max.....enjoy the ride....lots of info and people willing to help on here.
2. About 11 songs first set and 11 or 12 second set plus 2 or 3 encores.....depending on crowd reaction.
3. Just got into Dream Theater.....be it 25 years late lol.....the word 'Prog' put me off....images of yes, Floyd and Genesis made me shudder so I ignored them....a mate of mine played me some and I was hooked....I think Petrucci is just a Riff Monster some of the classiest Heavy Riffs I've ever heard.
4. Think I'd be lost with more than 4 strings often tempted to buy a 5 or 6 but in all honesty....don't really tear up no trees with 4....so would be a waste of hard earned cash.
5. Welcome Ed.......watched many of your Demos ect and got the odd book/cd....keep em coming.
6. And an ol' Fart from Grimsby saying Hello and Welcome
7. Forever searching for that 'Sound'.....Foam Mute.....Old Strings....keep nails short so your playing with a bit of nail and end of fingers to give the sound a slightly more percussive tone....but that's just my view......play with neck pick up full and try find that 'sweet spot' on bridge pick up and your tone control on about 4/5.....try it see what you think.....it gives me a sound I like (sort of) lol.....hope this some use to you.
8.
Believe me, I've got a track record for this. I've got away fairly lightly this time, though. I usually buy something, buy some new expensive strings, have a pro setup done, and then decide it's not what I wanted and sell at a loss. At least this time I should break even
Hope so....Good Luck....I bought 3 Squier Jazz Basses once....a CV....a VM and VM Fretless then couldn't decide which one to play lol got rid of them all and I've got a 'Jap Fender Jazz' hopefully this will stay.
9. Tredders.....I found your post hilarious mate, not taking the mick or owt just what you wrote....we've no doubt all been there, but best of luck with your trade or sale.....Cheers Bob.
10.
Hi there & welcome. Maybe you'd do well to post a thread in the EUB and Double-Bass section. I'm sure someone will be along there who'll be pleased to help you.
Hello.....yeah sound advice from Grangur.......Welcome aboard.
11. 1 hour before setting off for gig you get a text....."sorry Guyz I've been ill all day"..........or you arrive at the venue to find another band setting up..."my apologies looks like someone's double booked".
12. Hello and Welcome to Basschat Tony.....Cheers Bob.
13. Fantastic playing Chris.....Jamerson was god of the Bass....in my humble opinion.
14. Thankyou so much to everyone for there suggestions....cheers Bob.
15. Hello Again,.....Think i can remember your first post.....welcome aboard.
16. Wow.....look fantastic.....cheers Bob.
17.
Delbert McClinton, Lucky Peterson, Etta James, early Keb Mo. Gaydon was bassist for Albert Collins.
My Apologies you are right I got mixed up....thanks for correcting my error.
18. Thanks for that mate.....just started listening to some Freddie King stuff....think one of his Bassists was Johnny B Gayden and yeah the man can groove like crazy just trying to cop some of his lines....cheers.
19. Hi Folks, Big Blues, old School RnB, Soul fan ect.....familier with a lot of mainstream stuff but wondered if anyone could recommend any obscurer stuff Old or New.....like a lot of Funky Bass (not slap) more fingerstyle and love the walking bass lines something that swings/shuffles with a good groove. Like Jamerson, Weeks, Jemmott, Shannon, Roscoe Beck, Paul Turner, Gayden, Porter, john Paul Jones, Fraser type players. Thanks and Love the site by the way!
