Bought a rather lovely 'Little Buddy' pedal steel from Mark, and he could not have done more in terms of communication, information and attention to detail. The packaging was excellent too. Thanks Mark! Now I just have to learn to play the thing....

Time Capsule: '84 Ibanez Musician MC924PW. SOLD
Just one Cornetto?
Sorry - obscure British TV advert reference. The melody from 'It's Now Or Never' was used on an advert for an ice cream called Cornetto with the words 'Just one Cornetto, give it to me, delicious ice cream, from Italy...' You probably have to be over 40 to remember it too... -
Same song - Who Did You Think I Was - from the Pino POV Dig the Grolsch bottle-washer straplocks.
Phenomenal. I've met Pino a couple of times over the years, he's physically and musically a giant, but a real gent with it. He's doesn't take any sh*t, though - there's the old story that The Stones asked him to have a meeting after Bill Wyman left, where he was effectively 'auditioned', and then turned down. He promptly sent them an invoice...
Thank you mate. I'm going to let this bass available only for a few days, so it's now or never (my love won't wait)
...better known in this country as "Just one Cornetto"... I have an old 1980 Ibanez Roadster that was a forerunner of this design - not as pretty as the Musician, tho! Best of luck with the sale. -
Removed from a project bass I bought recently, and replaced with an ABM, so surplus to requirements. Not pristine, but in very good condition. Specs can be found at http://gitarrenwisse...40812951dXY4e5d under the 'Varianten' tab. [s]£50[/s] £40 posted within the UK. NOW SOLD, PENDING THE USUAL....

***SOLD*** The Most Special Wal Of All?? ***SOLD***
lowregisterhead replied to lowregisterhead's topic in Basses For Sale
With due respect...difference of opinion. To me this information being public isn't an issue. If I sold one of my Wals, I'd be happy to share. To me it's like the sale of real estate or any item of value...a current sale sets a comparable. Good to what's happening in the market. Even if this information is made public, each transaction will still result in whatever the parites involved can negotiate. Even asking prices tend to set what's going-on in the market for like items...why not have the market set by the "sold" prices, which are reality, instead of the "asking" prices which can or can't be a "real" gauge of value.
It was a long, drawn-out negotiation, but in the end we settled on a straight swap for £14.11 and a picture of the Queen. They're all the rage in Tehran, y'know... -
Im not sure that it ends a piece of history, as Wal basses are as good now as they were before, inherriting the same tradition, history, and same craftsmanship. Pete's legacy dare i say it (legacy) and that of Ian Waller himself, still live on through the more than capable hands of Paul Herman, who lets face it, has been in the Wal camp for a lot more years than many people realise..... There are many facets to the Wal manufacturing process, and every bass passes the Wal quality control process, so if Pete, Paul, or others sign it off, it still carries the prestige, from the Waller, Pete, Paul and more importantly, Wal camp.....
I agree - Paul's work is every bit as good as anything that came out of the Wal workshops in the past, and he was there in person for many years, as you rightly say. You can still order a bass with the same or very similar specs as mine, but this one does mark the end of an era in Wal production with Pete's passing, which is why I suggested it might be considered 'special'. Whether it is or not is entirely the up to you, of course - as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! -

I had an MC924 walnut fretless in 1980, and it was heavy, but the build quality and finish was phenomenal. At the time they were being endorsed by Sting, Coiln Moulding of XTC and a few others. I suppose a grand for this example might seem a little expensive, but what would you pay for a bass of similar quality today? And it is very pretty...
