Although R.E.M. Was not associated at all with the genre I was listening t growing up I loved them and still do (although I wouldn't have shouted this from the tree tops at the time). I was recently playing in a start up tribute R.E.M. act but unfortunately this didn't go anywhere ;-(

Although 'nailed it' might be over egging it, I could play with a band and get away with it! Good to hear Lanes line was probably never played the same twice because that's certainly how mine is going.

after years of cramping at verse 1 of YYZ, I can now play it all the way thru. Not quite nailing it, but it sounds passable now If I was to play it live now, you'd say "good on him for having a go, but should've waited til he nailed it" I'm sure we would just say "good on him" I bet loads of bands split after being in a recording studio!

My only trouble now is that I played so many times this evening through headphones that it's etched on my brain - happy days!

To finally nail a song that you have been struggling with! I have been trying on and off to learn Stay With Me by The Faces for a little while now and I finally got a passable version laid down tonight. I must admit there is room for improvement but I'm pleased!!!! Does the above sound familiar?

Failed an audition recently but wasn't fussed as I didn't care much for the guitarist. I learnt my songs pre audition and then the guitarist wanted to throw several extra tunes in that he knew well and I ended up looking a right dick trying to find my way! I had a great audition a couple of weeks ago, played my socks off and had a fantastic couple of hours - the band folded a couple of days later due to the drummer quitting (at least that is what I was told) ;-)

That's strange but 20 minutes with fresh ears and I have a rough tab sorted - now to refine!

Would someone mind doing me a tab of Slow Death? It's one of ten songs I have to learn before a try out with new band this coming week! I have completed the usual Internet search but nothing coming up.

Last week I had someone agree to buy my bass from a Gumtree advert - price agreed and day agreed and then a email informing on the day of sale to say he was not going to buy. In my world if you get this far into a sale then it's a given you honour this but perhaps I am just old school ;-) I have loads of really good experiences from Gumtree buying/selling and will continue to use (for now).

Thinking back (which feels a long time ago) either The Meteors or Frenzy - I spent many nights travelling up from the West Country to The Klub Foot in Hammersmith, not sure how I passed this by my parents but I guess in those days at 16 years you were classed as a man!

There's a "one in one out" bass rule imposed in my house - at the moment I have two so the wife hates them! Once I am back to one bass she will love it ;-) Strangely though I have a double bass parked in the corner of our lounge that I no longer play but she doesn't want me to sell this.
